The input I am seeing across forums makes me think the only people who are happy with the G9 situation are the people wishing to portray gender neutral characters.
I don't see either male or female character fans waxing lyrical about its realism levels other than for close up portaiture.
Like Genesis 1, it falls way short for both of those camps.:0/
October 21, 2022 at 11:06 AM #1879799@duval99 Growing Up for Genesis 9 doesn't have any paid product requirement 🙂
@eelgoo Victoria 9 seems to be very good, far superior in looks to V8.1 The lack of content is the real problem thoughSadly, Daz is messing up big time their launch by not releasing useful content for G9. I thought it was an atrocious decision to release Bruce Lee for 8.1 AFTER the launch of G9. I facepalmed so hard, I think the decision makers at Daz should have a permanent tattoo of the facepalm as a reminder of their poor choices.
Other than that, pre-sale bonus items are still not available (they are still fixing it), the one good release "Genesis 9 Character Essentials" came without gens materials (they are still fixing it), Vykthoria released a character that looks good enough for G3-G8, but not even G8.1 (she has been falling behind, unfortunately) and "FF's Content Creation Poses for Genesis 9" seem to be as useful as drinking acid to cure dandruff.
October 21, 2022 at 11:10 AM #1879802Somehow I got that feeling too. But it's hard to tell right now if the feminine/masculine fan doesn't get what they want right now and I wish G9 will be good for all of it. What we see and/or know right now, your reply contains most likely the truth.
Personally I'm happy with every new advancement because only if you go a (renewed) way, you can gain something better.
October 21, 2022 at 11:15 AM #1879809one fits all will always end up with not fitting anyone properly ...
October 21, 2022 at 11:26 AM #1879814@Legolas18 That has transpired to be the case but there is a bug in the new version of Studio that activates CBS (the G9 nomenclature for JCMs) morphs even if the required morph is not present:
As Zev0 states here:
Ye I see the problem. I added support for some Daz morphs, but since they are not there for users, it is auto dialing them up. Well that's retarded, they should remain inactive instead of auto dialing...
At the end of the day the G9 launch is a shitshow.
October 21, 2022 at 11:46 AM #1879823@duval99 Thank you for pointing that out. So, it's just worse that what I though 🙁
October 21, 2022 at 12:05 PM #1879832Are they going to address the issues with G9.1F & G9.1M, I hope?
October 21, 2022 at 12:29 PM #1879837Probably just gonna be G9.1 if they even make a 'point one' this cycle. Since they don't have G9F or G9M they probably wouldn't split the models.
October 21, 2022 at 12:32 PM #1879844Well, IMO that is what they will need to do to correct the errors for Male & Female versions.
:0/October 21, 2022 at 12:38 PM #1879846What would you say is the single most offending error caused by the unified models?
Like the one that if they only fixed one thing it would have to be this issue.October 21, 2022 at 12:43 PM #1879847Well, just an example, whilst the mesh density they have might be OK for a male character, there is insufficient mesh density to allow sufficient smooth morphing around the breast area for any variety in a female character.
October 21, 2022 at 12:49 PM #1879849Oh, you're right, I didn't even notice that.
Do you have a character or morph example in mind that is on Genesis 8/8.1 that you think the breasts wouldn't work on Genesis 9, at least until they modify their base figure?I'm trying to expand my morph library on Genesis 9. Conversion is kind of my expertise. Could help to fully understand what Genesis 9 can and can't do.
October 21, 2022 at 1:39 PM #1879865Well, I don't know if it helps much, but virtually any that deviate significantly from the default G8F, really.
Obviously it is going to be more noticeable on a natural large breasted female character.
Shape, particularly around the areolae area is diverse in real life, much less so in a 3D model.:0/
October 21, 2022 at 5:01 PM #1879951@eelgoo There is a nipple morph, but it's only HD, so it requires SubD 3 to be properly be visible. The default is SubD 1.
October 21, 2022 at 5:13 PM #1879962Yes, but it needs more polys for variety of shapes you have in previous generations.
