I read that G9 bends better but have yet seen evidence and explanation to why. Can someone shed some lights?

"Improved for posing and animation" was one of the six main selling points @I53570k but nothing has been explained or even mentioned about it by Daz or on their forums.
At a very long stretch they might claim the new expressions is "posing" rather than improved body posing (joint bending). As for explaining improved animation.... nada too. I suppose the new bone hierarchy for the spine might be another basis for the claim but it ain't the spine that's the problem, it's elbow, shoulder, hip and knee bending, and the ongoing inability to produce a realistic hand grasp. As I see it, all the enhancements are aimed at those who do hi-rez head & shoulder portrait renders and nothing in it for people like me who don't. In the absence of any proof or even mention of these two new so-called "enhancements" one might justifiably conclude it was just sales hype...

Yeah, not a lot of content. They should've at least got 2-3 creators on new characters when relasing it.

I'm astonished by the control of facial expressions, feels a lot more realistic.

Body morphs confuse me a little bit now, because all base female morph isn't as "feminine" as G3/G8 if that makes sense. Breasts are really bad and I hope there are some morphs very soon, the V9 Model isn't attractive.

I'm all for the androgyny morph thing and I guess DAZ tests this field out. Most artists and/or creators don't care about sexuality that much so... We'll see what content goes to G9 and what's new. I really hope, G9 gets better with time because G8 has a lot of limitations which G9 may could overcome with that androgyny morph.

"Midgets" are also now a thing. They do look incredible realistic.

Diversity is the baseline for G9.

I hate the 'one mesh fits all' approach.

    It is lazy.

An attitude confirmed by the lack of content at release.

Sure the improvements, add a significant amount for those that like close up work.
There is very little for anyone else.

    Very disappointed.

I wish they would put out some characters and assets that would show what G9 is capable of.

@Lanared3d "Most artists and/or creators donโ€™t care about sexuality..."... really? The Daz shop might show that otherwise... an endless parade of slut-wear and sexualised clothing and characters. Vicky 9's debut outfit being a leather fetish S&M outfit LOL. Note, at the same time promoting some vitiligo skinmap in an attempt to appeal to the popular mantra of "inclusiveness", Jesus wept.
G9 may well overcome it's inherent limitations but we already have a wealth of G8 stuff to do that, but of course minus the sales revenue of introducing a new character that forces you to buy a whole load of their new shit.

My first Genesis 9 character test render.I don't like that they decreased the amount of surfaces. Also the lack of a specific nipple grid

So it's got worse @Snaketto? Nothing like going backwards in the name of progress.

The general release plan is atrocious. The bare minimum head and body morphs are nowhere to be seen, yet Zev0's release today (Growing Up for G9) seems to require at least the body morphs. Talk about 'ass about face'.

A big issue with Daz Studio has always been speed of loading in a character - this is just going to be compounded now with both male and female morphs all loading on the same base.

Its designed for pa's only, better, for daz pa's only, who dont have the hd tool cant do nothing good.

8K textures of v9? you can do the same for g8 or even for v4

The mesh is awful, its basically a grid, lines dont follow the figure curves, its like a dynamesh in zb, but, if you dont have the HD tool you can do nothing
and the base figure its ugly

geografts dont recive a good weight mapping near joints

whats the goal of this figure if not making money for addons?

its me or they dont have added the basic morphs like the oldest gen? i mean like basic breast morphs fitness etc? No basic expressions?

No, the big issue is Daz and DS pretending to be high-class 3D program when it's nothing but a hobbyist one that promotes new features that most modest hobbyist don't want or need. It's an instamatic camera pretending to be a $2000 DSLR when 90% of its users just want point and shoot.
Perhaps a bad marketing decision when most users just want sausage, mash and a bit of cake.....

TBH I have yet to see anything that encourages me to even bother installing G9. ๐Ÿ™

You've misinterpreted my opinion to a certain point, although you've got valid points. Thanks for that.

Let's go back a few years. What was the baseline?
Forcing two separate ways (male/female, G3, G8, V4 etc.), which somewhat made it worse for creators to create stuff for neutral chocies. In perspective: I've bought a transgender morph set to display and mirror modern lifestyle choices. It is - at least for me - still a mystery why we need to chose a gender or haircut depending on the previously chosen gender if it doesn't matter in art. G8.1 completely missed the chance to somewhat mix those bags. G9 does it as far as I can tell but we need to see how it works out. And I don't want to talk about the money-grabbing tactic(s) behind it because if no one would buy it, they'd know they've made crap (winking at G8.1).

With G9 you can create for example a shirt and it could be masculine but also feminine. You decide how to use it, all the creators set their own baseline but we as users can decide how to use it. I'm really excited for all the new creations and a lot of free space for creativity without reinventing the wheel which I did way too often with Blender and certain cross-gender stuff.

If it works like they've anticipated we could set with the G9 model a new standard even though it's way too small in general use and needs a lot of time before G8 isn't good enough for the 90% of users.

yeah, it's the same for me. i just don't care and i'm pretty sure the hype is over soon, at latest if people notice that 99% of the coming G9 characters don't look better than G8/G8.1 ... V9 is like a tech demo ... they've put many work in creating very detailed textures for one model, but you'll see pretty soon that this isn't something you can expect on every new G9 character. because there aren't much quality photo resources out there for this level of detail, so that the vast majority of G9 characters will end up looking no different than the current G8/G8.1 characters ...
