Happy to help if anyone needs some guidance on SD installs and tips. Mostly hang around the discord channel so pop me a wave and i will try and get back to you
May 4, 2023 at 4:00 am #1965813Thanks again @Mathmathou. I installed 1.4 (I think) and it runs without problems.
@Corbeau - the prog stores all your images but I just delete them to save space. Just playing at the moment. Some of the "models" I DL were several GB though. Be aware SD can suck you in and you can spend hours upon hours playing with it and not attending to the things you should be doing.May 5, 2023 at 1:33 am #1966136I think that before scientists develop AI we should try working on common sense.
I would like to point out that not only does AI have issues with hands... You have got to see the stuff it does with penises. I mean.. dang... wasn't that his leg? Nose? No wait... this one is a loop! Where will it go next? Conjoined penises?
There is most certainly a Rule 34 section for XXX AI images, and its safe to look at as long as you have enough eye bleach on stand by.
(I've played with Stable Diffusion more than Genesis 9. That tells you what I think of Genesis 9.)
May 5, 2023 at 1:56 am #1966142Too true CaptainRon. You can try to fix those things through negative prompts but the results are very random. In fact the images produced by SD define the very meaning of random LOL, even with specific seeds, checkpoints or loras.

You can get consistent AI characters (at least to a degree) by using the exact same description for that character each time. Adding a first name and surname is a big help regarding that, even if it's a completely made up name. Describing the hair exactly also helps and then you just change the rest to get the same character but in a different situation. There are other ways but that's the simplest way I know.May 8, 2023 at 7:21 am #1967753@wideload
Thank you for all these precisions. I hoped it could work as a sort of character variable... I will have to test all that with my future NASA computer and its scandalously expensive GPU... Stupid brag, I know... and by the way I will probably never use G9, my rig will only deserve G10 and DS5 around 2040.May 8, 2023 at 9:30 am #1967851I'm on the fence with SD. I played around with it when V1.4 was released and got some semi-adequate images out of it, but could never get consistent results. I've toyed around with it off and on since but the lack of consistency is still there and I seem to spend a lot of time messing with sliders and tweaking prompts and still not getting a result that I couldn't replicate in DS or Blender in half the time. One thing I am interested in trying to train my own models based on some of my DS characters as well as trying some of the pre-trained checkpoints and style LoRas to see if I can use a combination of Daz characters and SD to create a visual novel, but that involves doing some research and tying my PC up with the training and time is not something I have a lot of at the moment.
As far as G9 goes, I installed it/him/her, loaded it once and decided G8 gives me everything I need right now. I see no value in trying to convert my characters to G9 manually and none of the assets I've seen for G9 give me any reason to move to it, especially with the G9->G8 autofit clones.
May 8, 2023 at 9:57 am #1967878You can thank Richard Yan for the G9-G8 fitting clones. 🙂
June 6, 2023 at 12:32 pm #1981185After toying around with G9, I am sticking with G8.1. I have tons of morphs for 8/8.1, tons of skins that fit as intended along with G3 and some G2 skins. With the pose converter that converts G9 poses to G8/G8.1 and the clothing autofitter that also converts G9 clothes to all previous generations, I see no need to build up a G9 morph and skin library. Also, converting my existing stable of G8.1 custom dial spins to G9, while possible, would take more time than I am willing to spend. The only thing I would like to see is a converter that converts G9 skins to G8/8.1.
June 6, 2023 at 1:16 pm #1981204I have tried & tried really hard to like G9. Apart from loading and rendering faster I just can't see any other benefits from using it over G8.

You aren't missing anything believe me.
June 6, 2023 at 1:32 pm #1981212I collect skins like numismatics collect coins. I don't even download characters for the morphs anymore, just for the skins.

Ditto. Sometimes I'll save the more unique morphs, but there's only one of those for every 100+ fat-lipped-almond-eyed-hourglass-waisted-big-tittied-long-legged bimbos on sale.
Saving only the unique skins keeps the load times down, and as a bonus, it means I can avoid being tempted to pay 4 times for the same skin because the vendor recycled that same skin four times with just a subtle color shift or some popped-in moles.
June 7, 2023 at 9:41 am #1981484Porting skins from G9 to G8-8.1 & G3 can be done in Blender. It's a tedious task of hit & miss and would take days if not weeks to convert a large library.
So, G9 again. I tried again yesterday with a simple sitting pose. The arms bent like drain pipes and the rigging was off making the hands distorted, although It was an easy fix must we have to go through all these little fixes here and there to make G9 work correctly, really. I get the exictment of using the next gen figure but DAZ should really take feedback on board & fix things in a timely manner.
July 19, 2023 at 7:55 pm #2001405To me, the completely lack of high quality kin variations is the biggest problem with Gen 9. I go to some of the artist pages who make some of the best Gen 8 skins I have, and they have nothing. It's a wasteland.
July 21, 2023 at 1:03 pm #2002274Whatever floats your boat but if there's one thing G9 has in abundance it's high quality skin textures. At least the core characters beat everything G8 has to offer straight out of the water.
