Ooooof. Yeah, good for 3DU.
I wonder how many big name vendors have left Daz3D already? I know Aeon Soul has all but left the storefront to become independent and now 3DU.
Tick tock, Daz/Tafi. Tick, tock.
August 8, 2026 at 4:27 PM #2183890Oh nooooo!!! This is heartbreaking. Rest in peace, Anja! <3
July 24, 2026 at 4:08 AM #2181510I feel like those of who you are complaining about wokeness were not around when Genesis 1 was a thing, because this is the EXACT same thing and had the EXACT same issues.
July 19, 2026 at 4:09 PM #2180884The one thing I will give Renderotica credit for is that they did not allow anything remotely CSAM or child-related in their storefront. I think that’s a big reason why they were able to limp along for as long as they did, quite frankly.
The fact is, if a payment processor sees a SFW child model/character right next to “Getting fucked in the pussy with belly bulge and creampies” poses and material, or if a child model is sold with “anatomical materials” they’re sure as shit ain’t gonna delineate between the two regardless of how they’re categorized in the store.
If a dedicated 18+ Daz content site pops up after this, they better take a hard stance against CSAM and/or using said assets to create that kind of content. (Not that you can control what sickos do once something is purchased, so in the words of KingCobraJFS, fuck sickos. TWU.)
So to that end, it does not surprise me that this happened when you look at the broader picture.
And if you use Daz to make this shit, there’s a cold room in Hell waiting for you.July 19, 2026 at 1:33 PM #2180872Some of y'all are sounding dangerously close to defending CSAM/CP with some of your arguments, just saying.
July 19, 2026 at 1:09 PM #2180870I'm going to play devil's advocate and say that RenderHub selling all kinds of extreme adult material alongside 3D models of specifically-mentioned-as children models probably didn't help, either.
Either way, can't say I'm surprised this happened. It wasn't a matter of "if", but a matter of "when".
Now it's only a matter of time before a major video game company hits them with the hammer hard and we see ripped, ported-to-DAZ assets yeeted from the store for good.
October 11, 2024 at 2:31 PM #2095072Saw this and 2 things:
1) This is just preparing people for the inevitable: moving Daz Studio with the still-vaporware DS5 from a fully free model (with paid add ons) to a subscription only model... with paid add-ons.
2) Their attempt to do NFTs backfired so spectacularly on them to the point where this is a last-ditch effort to recoup lost revenue: notice how they pretty much memory holed the NFT debacle (especially after the disastrous Game of Thrones drop that even the chuddiest of cryptobros laughed at and said they didn't want). And the AI backlash has likely also hurt their revenue, too.
I'll admit, it's tempting. If only for the converter.
Side note: I got banned from the forums for speaking my mind against the AI abortion they launched, but after taking a glance at this new program I gave it a shot... only for it to say I needed to contact support to upgrade. Guess they don't want my money after all.
June 27, 2024 at 12:57 AM #2080624The cosplay stuff is what really gets me. I mean sure, it's nice to not have to pay people who rip game assets wholecloth and sell them for outrageous prices (still waiting for the day the hammer falls down hard on RenderHub after they piss off the wrong gaming publishing company) but OTOH it's becoming a major crutch for G9. And like, the Bootleg Mario thing is the nadir of this trend. Mario doesn't work well in realism, didn't anyone learn that from the 1993 movie?
And the idea of making it back into a unimesh, agender blob that you can shape into either sex (or both) like Genesis 1 sounds good, but then you remember the issues that came with Genesis 1 that necessitated them splitting them back into separate Male and Female figures for Genesis 2. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Genesis 10 ends up going back down that route in a year's time.
I miss quality morphing. DForce is just terrible, especially when you've got cloth sims like Marvelous Designer and Blender that don't threaten to crash your entire computer when running a simulation. I used to wish for a better cloth sim after making dreamy sighs at Poser, but DForce is a monkey's paw wish and it's irritating that PAs are using it as a cop-out to avoid doing any sort of modeling. It's pretty sad when Items that are 15-20 years old look far better than items made today with the likes of MD, ZBrush, and Substance.
Also the coward PAs need to start showing Masculine figures wearing the skimpwear that's come back into favor with G9 smdh.
June 26, 2024 at 8:53 PM #2080604No, you're not wrong. I stopped buying Daz products ages ago (and getting banned from the forums only helped hasten that decision lmao) because the quality was going down the tubes, with people relying on DForce as a crutch for badly made clothes, and Genesis 9 being the ultimate letdown in a lot of ways.
April 17, 2024 at 1:17 AM #2070646Poser used to be able to ride off of the RWBY train, given the late Monty Oum used that exclusively for his animations, but after he suddenly died and (the now defunct) Rooster Teeth team that took over the show moved to industry standard animation programs like Maya, Smith-Micro couldn't even use that anymore as a selling point.
It's a shame. I know I've thrown shade at Poser in the past but competition does breed healthy markets and good products for the consumers. If Renderosity could've gotten their shit together, Poser could've had a remarkable rebirth and given Daz much-needed competition. Hell, if Poser had a bridge or plug-in that could import its stuff into Blender or Unreal that was on par with Diffeomorphic (which isn't perfect but it's the best out there rn), I'd seriously consider buying, no joke.
Years ago, when Rendo took over Poser, I had a hunch that they would eventually find a way to drive the Daz content off of their site, despite it being a big seller. With a lot of big vendors having made the move to Daz's storefront and potentially even more by the end of the week, I do wonder if that's closer to reality than we think. Hmmm.
April 11, 2024 at 5:41 PM #2069808Alright, so updating the list:
from Rendo to Daz (not fully, but a good chunk of stuff)
Anagord
Fabiana
Lilflame
Pamawo
Wolfie
Deeceyfrom Rendo to Renderhub (also not fully but most if not all new items are posted there)
Hameleon/SagittariusA
STZ/ATX
MuwawyaAgain, not everything has been pulled from Rendo from these vendors but it's starting to get pretty sussy.
Frankly, I wish more vendors would embrace selling their items on their own storefronts (or through stuff like Payhip, Ko-Fi, etc) and skip the middleman of these guys. A lot of them have enough rep and clout to be self-sustaining at this point, they'd be crazy not to, unless they like sacrificing a huge chunk of money for the luxury of passing the buck of technical support and promo images off to someone else.
April 9, 2024 at 2:42 PM #2069369They both seem to propogate delusional self important marketing policies.
Well, you're not wrong. Daz's is scummier but at least theirs is a semi-transparent scumminess.
Rendo must've done something really unappealing behind the scenes if longtime stalwarts like Liliflame and Fabiana moved most of their back catalog to Daz or Daz offered them a significant amount of cash. Or both.
Also checked Fabiana's store and wow, she moved all the newer content and left the G3-and-older up on Rendo. If any of you have her older stuff, I'd strongly suggest archiving that shit now before she suddenly vaults her entire storefront there. Same with Lilflame, too.
April 9, 2024 at 11:56 AM #2069350Others worth noting (or you might have missed):
Fabiana also moved a good chunk of her catalog from Rendo over, though a lot of the older items pre-Genesis 8 aren't there.
Pamawo also closed up shop at Rendo months ago and is now re-releasing some older items (Scherezade set) with G9 support added.
Deecey (one of the LaFemme 1 creators) left as well and now has some stuff up at Daz, but I don't think she's posted anything new in a long time.
Hameleon/SaggitariusA seemingly bounced from Renderosity to RenderHub, too. Same with STZ/ATX, Muwawya, and probably a few others but idc to look.
Makes you wonder who else is going to be leaving or posting new stuff. I suspect Dzheng might be another one to jump ship by the end of the year either to Daz or RenderHub, but you'll know something's not right if Rhiannon leaves Renderosity.
Which then begs the question: What the hell is going on over at Renderosity?
As for vendors leaving Daz, idk if it would count but LadyLittlefox has pretty much stopped doing 3D model/Daz stuff (she hasn't uploaded anything new in ages) and has moved on to making cross-stitch plushies IRL.
April 5, 2024 at 4:40 PM #2068701Not gonna lie, if this AI thing blows up in their face as badly as the NFT venture did and Tafi decides to sell Daz, the best possible option at this point is for Daz the company to be absorbed by Epic. Epic/Unreal isn't without its own major issues and they're no saint of a company, but better the devil you know I guess.
April 5, 2024 at 2:20 PM #2068685Honestly disappointed because they're simply jumping into AI bandwagon blindly just like what they did on their NFTs. instead of using AI to supplement Daz Studio to accelerate workflows such as AI IK/FK solvers, quick AI retouching on rendered images, and perhaps even speed up their shitty OpenCL dForce with AI (which unfortunately for them, it requires innovation), they went for the simplest approach of all from the current AI boom: generative prompt-to-image. Probably simply grabbed some boilerplate LLMs offsite, did a bit of customizations, trained with images of their G9 shit, then plug it into their server. There you go, $4/mo.
Such a great solution (I'm not so against AI that I refuse to see practical applications like the ones mentioned above) but Daz being Daz, they refuse to go that route and instead go for the cheapest, laziest "solution".
This is the same company that deep throated NFTs until the disastrous Game of Thrones drop and after the public pillorying from even the most brainwashed of cryptobros calling them out for how lazy and busted it was (followed by the NFT market absolutely cratering), they quietly swept NFT involvement under the rug until they dumped the AI "art" generator on everyone as a potential trojan horse to get people prepared for a subscription-based model for Daz Studio 5. Which I predict will be just as broken if not worse than DS is now.
