Ack! Never enough time to get these done. Anyway, here's my contribution, such as it is.

@silverboax I'm not sure how you get condescension from that. It was meant to be more informative. Tempted as I am to dissect your response, I don't come here to quibble with benighted souls. You are indeed entitled to your opinion, but the fact that you aren't even an entrant has blunted my interest in it. I would urge you to be more constructive in your criticism in the future. As the adage goes, if you can't say something nice...

@silverboax Yes. Those are shadows cast from light filtering in through the blinds. That is a trope of Film Noir, as is the use of symbolism in setting up a shot. Rather than just make a pretty render, I wanted to keep true to the spirit of the genre and tell a story visually. I tried to layer the image with lots of symbolism to reinforce the action in the scene.

    Noir Explained

The shadows from the blinds run perpendicular to the pattern on the walls to elicit the sense that someone has been "crossed." Further, the distance of the primary figures creates larger bands of shadows which are meant to evoke the prisoner uniforms of that era, symbolizing that they are captives to their destiny. The light from the right of the image diminishes those shadows and speaks to the possibility of them breaking free. You'll note also that the hands of the clock point directly to the shadowy figure behind the door and to the skull, representing the menace of death. This is again illustrated in the fact that the shape of the shadowy figure mirrors that of the bottle on the desk. Its position relative to the gun and the primary figures solidifies the danger. This element is accentuated by the fact that the camera beside the skull is pointing at the couple implying that they have been "seen."

As regards the central figures, the woman's vantage point would allow her to see the figure behind the door. The fact that she's smiling creates ambiguity as to whether she smiles at her lover, or at what is about to happen when the door opens. The tilt of the man's head and the brim of his hat obscure his eyes from the viewer, indicating that he is unaware of the events at hand. Lastly, dividing the image along the rule of thirds creates one line that runs from the figure behind the door to the gun, and another that separates the lovers.

Super excited about this contest! This takes me back to my days as a lowly film student.
Took the day off work on account of feeling a bit under the weather and worked on this between bowls of soup and naps.

I just noticed recently that PhilC shut down his site. His slave Leia outfit is still one of the best and was available as a freebie on his site for years. It's still up at SCG, though, for anyone that wants it.

@norbertz Years ago I spent $25 at 9mBi during one of their sales and wound up with something like 75 outfits for V4. Ah, the good old days.

I have an old runtime like this archived. As eelgoo mentions, it is probably easier to organize and re-install the products, especially if you're doing custom installs.

For items that are no longer available as install files, I reconstitute the package from the item lists provided in the read me files. You can find the read me file pretty easily on Renderosity, but you'll need to search "doc daz + product name" for Daz products. It's pretty tedious, but you'll have the installer ready to go for whenever you need it again.

For what it's worth, I've had this issue with some folks here as well, and it really is irritating to be sure. But I've found that it bothers me as much as I allow it to.

Some people will always focus on their own unhappiness and what they don't have, while others will focus on what they do, and be grateful. I do believe a lot of this attitude comes naturally with age, but it is sometimes hard to ignore/tolerate the lack of character in a percentage of the younger generation. (I'm looking at you, millennials.)

Still, I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, (as Colle does in his reply above)
Having been into this hobby for a good long time, it's nice to see such an explosion of content and community in recent years. However, with popularity comes the hoi polloi. All one can do is live with it, or choose not to.

I've found that the majority of the people on this site with whom I interact, (the same ones who do most of the heavy lifting), are genuinely fine folks with whom I'm happy to have connected. I try to remember that when someone gets on my tits. Though rant posts, are a nice outlet, as well. 🙂

@eelgoo So, I managed to get past the out of range errors. I got those too initially, but used the OBJ export settings in the base_files folder, and successfully exported the OBJ.

However, when I tried to load the new morph, I keep getting the same "geometry doesn't match" error. At the moment I haven't managed to figure out how to resolve this, but may give it another go later.

@MysticFortune - It's VERY well made. Lots of subtlety and camera work add to the overall tension, but as Rokkstar says, it's definitely more disturbing and atmospheric than cheap effect. There are a few jump scares, though. And Pennywise is fantastic. I was pleased with it, for sure.

As Kooroe mentions, it's just the first part, and at 130+ minutes, it's a long sit. But it's much funnier than one would expect, and the pacing is dynamic enough that it doesn't drag.

Congratulations, everyone! I've been swamped with the ornery details of my real life and wasn't able to participate as much as I'd have liked lately, but I'm glad this has been so well received. well done, @eeeooo.

    @eelgoo

I haven't got the chance to take it for a spin yet. I'd accumulated a bit a backlog and have been occupied with that.

I'll give it a whirl later tonight, or during the day tomorrow, and report back to you with my findings!

    🙂
