I think it was a terminal illness of some sort.

    She past far too young.

    @Mystic

Yes, I can appreciate that awkwardness.

    🙁

I think the strangest thing is that I got Lantios Night Time pack for free about three weeks ago and today they are saying its "New"

I noticed this a few weeks ago but I thought it was just some kind of a website glitch because the ID hasn't changed so you can clearly see it's older product. It maybe a side-effect of renegotiating a license for a product and updating the product on their page. Or of course it could be an intended side-effect to bump interest on older product.

I have to say that Daz's website is actually pretty crap to navigate unless you know what you're looking for, which is bad for a site trying to sell products. But then again, Rendo and the rest are pretty bad as well.

@evilmonkey Apparently Daz's store runs on Magento, which I've heard is pretty reviled by most web developers.

Rendo's site is woefully behind the times. Good luck trying to filter things, much less search for shit. It's a huge mess, and the supposed security issues if you don't buy things with PayPal don't help their case, either. Plus, they dragged their heels for years on separating the Poser and Daz items, and only segregated the two after some Poser-only PAs belched out complaints constantly.

HW3D is fairly adequate compared to those two, but it moves like total molasses, especially when you try to mess with your shopping cart. The only thing they have going for them are their animals (Dawn barely gets support and Dusk & Luna flopped, let's be real), but that's it.

CGBytes/R'otica are laughable when it comes to their interfaces, which are pretty much stuck in late 2000's web design.

In an ideal world, a lot of the bigger PA's would leave sites like Daz/Rendo/CGB/R'otica open their own websites, set their own pricing, and sell stuff via Gumroad. If I'm going to pay for this shit, I want the artists to get the whole cost and not some paltry part of a commission each month. Hell, I'd imagine some of them would be able to fly solo, especially the more prolific ones.

Okay, I was perusing the Daz new additions today and I've figured it out. The old stuff that says "NEW!" seems like it is being bumped to the list because of it being added to the Platinum Club offers as noted by the PC+ in the bottom right corner. Some new stuff is also being flagged as PC+ as well and it threw me but all the older listings have that tag.

If I remember, SAV passed away due to a brain tumor, that is what caused her fall and the near loss of her eye, her Docs did a brain scan & found the cancer, but by then it was too late, Chemo failed & it was too big to cut out.

Man, I hate to hear that about SAV. She's been one of my favorites for years.

    RIP

After her family announced her passing, they posted a pic of her from 3 weeks prior. Lost all of her hair, drawn in eyebrows, head wrapped in a pattern scarf, she still had the fire in her eyes though. She fought it to her last breath.

RIP, SAV. You are missed. =(

In an ideal world, a lot of the bigger PA’s would leave sites like Daz/Rendo/CGB/R’otica open their own websites, set their own pricing, and sell stuff via Gumroad. If I’m going to pay for this shit, I want the artists to get the whole cost and not some paltry part of a commission each month. Hell, I’d imagine some of them would be able to fly solo, especially the more prolific ones.

Then greed stepped in after seeing a money making gap in the market.
A decent rival would be good. I can't see one at present...

There are actually still a few independent sites, some of which are quite decent, but by & large I don't think they make a lot or even cover costs because they have a limited amount of content.

10+ years ago you had many sites offering low price and free items. You could spend weeks going through them. 98% of them have vanished 🙁

    You are quite right.
Most either got bought out or just plain faded away.

I just noticed recently that PhilC shut down his site. His slave Leia outfit is still one of the best and was available as a freebie on his site for years. It's still up at SCG, though, for anyone that wants it.

@norbertz Years ago I spent $25 at 9mBi during one of their sales and wound up with something like 75 outfits for V4. Ah, the good old days.
