The problem with having content in two (or more) stores is the royalty rates that Daz pays for non-exclusive agreements are much lower. They don't say how much lower but possibly 50% lover than the standard 50/50.This not only pressures PAs to go exclusive but also allows Daz to price-gouge exclusive content.
April 13, 2024 at 9:01 AM #2070068Something odd is definitely going on.
I can't honestly see this many known name vendors setting up at Daz at the same time otherwise.
Despite all the usual glitzy narcisistic tub thumping for each 'new' vendor, I don't see anything from them on the new releases?
Or is it just the arcane way Daz displays items for sale?

April 13, 2024 at 9:27 AM #2070080A point we seem to be forgetting is that the profit from sales goes to pay programmers to write Studio.
I wonder where it's been going the last two years since there's been no real programming done in that time.I see that this morning it's Sveva.

Perhaps Rendo is going to close?April 13, 2024 at 10:48 AM #2070093I wonder if they are trying to push them all to make Poser stuff and most don't want to.
April 13, 2024 at 10:50 AM #2070094Well, I sincerely hope that isn't the case.
It would save me a shitload of money, but I would sorely miss it.:0/
April 13, 2024 at 10:52 AM #2070097This is starting to feel a lot like it did when rDNA was bought.
April 13, 2024 at 10:53 AM #2070098Now that is an interesting thought.
Certainly plausible, & it would upset all the vendors all at once.
🙂
April 13, 2024 at 10:57 AM #2070100That is the most concerning thing.
If you remember RDNA made a big splash bragging that they were the biggest fiercely independent Daz/Poser store to inflate their perceived value, only before selling out to Daz a month or so later.
We will have to watch out for something similar from 'Rosity.
I really hope that doesn't happen, even if it will save me money!

April 13, 2024 at 11:10 AM #2070102Some at 'Rosity think it may be the fact the only Daz PAs have access to the G9 HD morphs.
I don't think so myself, because why would they all move across in a wave like we are getting? There are still quite a few vendors around who really do not like G9.
Gotta say, I am entirely on board with that!April 13, 2024 at 11:27 AM #2070107I don't think that's the reason. A lot of migrated vendors focus on clothing and such which you don't really need the g9 hd morphs for.
A rosity mod stated in a recent thread that they won't go anywhere and celebrate their anniversary next year...but who knows what it all means. I don't want any stores to close cause it just means more batches of great items lost forever. Also, the products don't show via the new items because they were migrated with original release dates it seems. Confused me too in the beginning because there's this whole promo of new artists but none of their stuff is on the default frontpage.
April 13, 2024 at 11:30 AM #2070108sounds like a bs, but got this thought right now, maybe an extra benefits offer from daz?
why there is no public complaining from vendors for any bad decision from rendo that makes this happen?
a possible rendo shutdown is the most plausible option, a communication was given to top rendo vendors which are moving to daz before the official announce that will obviously led to a massive flood of requests to daz.April 13, 2024 at 2:29 PM #2070127@russiansniper, THAT makes a lot of sense.
Daz/Tafi isn't working on Studio 5 so a good way to keep interest (and sales) up is to make offers to Rendo vendors to come across to the dark side. Once Rendo's sales drop enough they'll have to close up or sell since there can't be enough sales of Poser stuff to keep them going. I've been told by several Poser users that most folks are still on Poser 11 or 12 because 13 sucked.April 13, 2024 at 2:34 PM #2070128@Ethiopia INB4 DAZ/Tafi acquires Rendo
April 13, 2024 at 3:05 PM #2070133A large number of artists are still to come. They have their page ready (but still empty) at daz3D, and some of them have their rendo items already removed.
Here are the artists that I checked whose potential daz pages does not lead to a 404 (probably only a partial list):
luna3d https://www.daz3d.com/luna3d
truform https://www.daz3d.com/truform
jamare https://www.daz3d.com/jamare
lully https://www.daz3d.com/lully
devianttuna13 https://www.daz3d.com/devianttuna13
krashwerks https://www.daz3d.com/krashwerks
vicey3d https://www.daz3d.com/vicey3dSome rendo artists are already publishing at daz from time to time and already have a page, so this test cannot identify them. But it would be very surprising if none are concerned (Nelmi, Antje, Valery3D, 3d-arena, 3DSublimeProductions, atenais, Belladzines, lyone, prae, etc).
And sveva already has been unmasked by an ooops mail from daz.So maybe not the end of rendo, but with probably more than half of their artists (in terms of sells) disappearing, things will change dramatically for them. They will no longer be #2 for the daz stuff and will probably face major financial problems.
One interesting question is what impact will it have for daz.
-
Will the artist be forced to follow daz policy (like 100% G9)?
-
What about risqué clothing and NSFW stuff (daz seems to have softened their position with several nudes in Valkyrie promos)?
