I haven't spent any money at Daz since their last holdout vendors stopped producing for Poser (think David Brinnen was the last to stop, shortly after Merlin)
I really miss good ol' RuntimeDNA, was the best brokerage around back then IMO. But then the owner, Syyd, decided to sell to Daz because running the store took too much energy (understandable), and she went to work for Daz instead.. and they fired her again not long after.. but the grass is always greener, right?
April 11, 2024 at 8:58 PM #2069838I miss RuntimeDNA too. So much so I still have it bookmarked to pay homage 😊.
April 11, 2024 at 9:01 PM #2069839Really wondering what happened to have 7-8 renderosity artists, including some stalwarts, leaving the shop together.
Either rendo made something that really pissed them off
Or daz made a proposal that they "could not refuse".I would bet for a rendo screwup. They can take very unwise decisions that irritate their artists (or their customers). See for instance this post by SickleYield https://www.deviantart.com/sickleyield/journal/Why-I-No-Longer-Sell-At-Renderosity-859745606
April 11, 2024 at 9:02 PM #2069840Nice! I often look them up on waybackmachine, to hunt for promos 🙂
April 12, 2024 at 8:03 AM #2069882You can add Valkyrie to that list it seems. They're the welcome artist of today. I really wonder what happened, damn.
April 12, 2024 at 9:54 AM #2069907It's funny/odd/weird/coincidental that so many vendors are leaving Rendo at once. Could this (finally) be the end of Rendo and Poser? Maybe someone with half a brain will buy it and make Poser the program it should always have been.
April 12, 2024 at 2:03 PM #2069947I saw the Valkyrie email this morning. It definitely looks like our friend Tim Choate wanted to make a change on his website, so he pulled out his revolver, loaded it with the hottest rounds he could find, took careful aim at one of his feet, and...

April 12, 2024 at 2:33 PM #2069952all DAZ needs now is Rhiannon and the final nail in the coffin for Bondware/Renderosity is in
April 12, 2024 at 2:46 PM #2069957yup I think u nailed it , it don't look good for them.
April 12, 2024 at 2:55 PM #2069959you would think a bunch of the artists would get together and open a new store with out all the bull**** the other stores have.
April 12, 2024 at 6:54 PM #2069993I wish they would do that. It pains me to know that anytime i buy something at LEAST 40% goes straight to daz/renderosity/renderhub/... and not to the artist. I get servers cost money to run but not as much as they leech from the people who keep their software alive.
Not to forget their stupid rules that seem to be getting more and more weird.
April 12, 2024 at 6:56 PM #2069994Well, hopefully they will wake up & stop the rot.
If 'Rosity goes under, I won't be buying anywhere near as much!
April 12, 2024 at 11:27 PM #2070016The current situation does make me think if I'll renew my prime membership there, I'll decide when it's time.
April 13, 2024 at 1:06 AM #2070020Maybe they are willing to lose a little $ and make it up in volume? They have a pretty consistent stream of people and making a new site would take a bit to get rolling. Then again news travels fast online so not sure.
If you go to Daz to you get inside info on upcoming releases. If so they'd have content ready before releases.
