Had to try this
@norbertz, is this what you're trying to do? I feel like this turned out okay. I basically sat in a chair and looked behind me. Any part of my body that twisted, I twisted on the model. Although I did have to turn some limits off.
January 18, 2018 at 5:09 PM #464333As regards realism, whilst a lot can be done with texturing / shading, lighting is the key component.
I agree that whilst there may be relatively few renders that really look like a photograph, I have seen a lot of poor photographs that actually look like renders.
🙂
January 18, 2018 at 7:56 PM #464464@eelgoo: I agree with you. A well-lit picture is far more interesting. I'm really bad at texturing, I dabble but I never obtained great results. Also when I render, I don't try to achieve realism and, quite frankly, I don't feel my computer and/or my skills are good enough for that kind of results.
I'm still using G3F mainly because I have a lot of clothing options with her and I'm also really bad at rigging/conforming/using complicated outfits from older generations. I did try recently G8F for the Calendar Girl Contest (even if I didn't post the render) and I was really pleased with her expressions. I also used the Skin Doctor - Wet Skin and I was very happy with the results (you guys should try it imo).

I want to try dForce but when I'm using it with non-dForce pieces of clothing, I don't know why, my graphic card is sending my an error message so I can't fully exploit it yet.
So sorry again for the long post. 😀

January 18, 2018 at 8:22 PM #464488Out of the box, Genesis 8 works the best for realistic movement, posing and expression. There are tools for all that improve the "realism" of the figures to varying degrees but none seem to make the figures totally plug and play (at least for me). I use Musculature HD and Vascularity HD on Genesis 3 to dial in muscle flexing that I want, so for particular poses I can make them look like I want. For that reason and the amount of morphs, clothes and tools available I prefer Genesis 3. I don't see a whole lot of improvement over Genesis 3 with Genesis 8 and in fact I think V8 has a rather masculine appearance to me with a stronger jawline and bone structure than I'd want. Genesis and G2 have some fun characters but less realistic figures and more mucking about with skin and textures to get a good result. I haven't messed around with M4/V4 at all as I haven't really liked the results I've seen from others and have generally been happy with G3 for the most part.
January 18, 2018 at 9:08 PM #464525@not-hunter, it's trickier when the user name doesn't match what is displayed, like yours. @Ethiopia won't link to anything.
January 18, 2018 at 9:16 PM #464531Yes that did work. 🙂
January 18, 2018 at 10:53 PM #464631@rob - yeah not being able to continue a simulation is annoying.... having been learning substance painter recently has made me realise how much better DAZs renderer could be as well, they both use Iray, but in substance you can can continue a render if you feel it needs a little more time and it has basic post processing (glow, DOF, colour correction) which you can adjust at any time.
January 18, 2018 at 10:58 PM #464640@silverboax The most frustrating thing about a failed simulation is that it slows your system down so much that it takes about 60 seconds of hover time with the mouse pointer before it will let you click cancel, then another 10 to 15 minutes before it actually does cancel. (I'm dealing with this right at this moment).
I need to try Substance Painter. I don't even know what it's about.
January 18, 2018 at 11:03 PM #464649@silverboaX you can add time to a render even when it is done in DAZ. On the popup render window, on the left middle edge of the border is a little tab. Click it and render settings open up. Tome mapping, progressive render... you can change them on the fly. If you need to add time, Just add time and hit continue.

@Ethiopia LMFAO every time I read a post of yours. You're killing me. Love it. I know we'd be friends IRL. I like twisted minds like mine. LOLJanuary 18, 2018 at 11:07 PM #464652January 18, 2018 at 11:11 PM #464655@Rob DAYM.. she must have gone to neck stretching school. LOL
January 18, 2018 at 11:17 PM #464657@dragonmtzr I also did my best to give her a smile that didn't look "creepy". But any out of the box expression pose that I've ever seen does in fact look creepy as hell.
January 18, 2018 at 11:46 PM #464710@picaya - orly ? pro tip. I didn't know you could do that once a render was complete.
