Just gave 4.20 a spin... meh, can't benchmark much on a potato.
Except for closing, I found out that Studio now takes a stupid insane long time to dump the scene assets when closing. All other previous versions did a rather quick job of it. This version uses 25% CPU and takes its sweet time to drop each node from memory for some reason.
Otherwise, it seems to behave just the same.
I haven't come across the red skin thing some people are reporting, and IDC about ghost lights, never was a fan. I feel like if you're relying on ghost lighting, you're doing it wrong. The closest I come is a parabolic mesh light in front of the camera and use a section plane to exclude it from Iray. You get all the light and none of the geometry.March 2, 2022 at 3:17 am #1781115Ever try turning off quality and kicking up render time/samples and just stopping it when you feel like it?
March 2, 2022 at 8:22 am #1781139Yes I did this in the old times, waiting and waiting and waiting and.......
Since SSIM is integrated (4.15 4.16 4.20), I have been using SSIM and I find this prediction system great. Gives me the "feel" renders faster and not to wait houres till the last pixel is rendered.
"SSIM does not result in faster renders. It just reaches 100% sooner (usually) based on an predictive assessment that some noise is acceptable and that the image is probably good enough."
A good and concise explanation LivingPixels. Thank you
March 2, 2022 at 11:47 am #1781166AnonymousInactiveRank:An issue with DS 4.20.0.02 has started since I did a fresh install over the weekend. Now it won't save the GUI I chose and reverts back to default every time I open the app.
I did a fresh install again an hour ago but the problem remains.
Does anyone else here have a similar issue?March 2, 2022 at 12:21 pm #17811704.20 not saving the GUI is a well known bug in this release. Hopefully, it should be fixed in the next release.

March 5, 2022 at 5:02 pm #1782144AnonymousInactiveRank:4.20.0.3 Beta is suffering a similar GUI problem. It doesn't open the usual City limits Lite we once knew, it opens some kind of minimal GUI. Setting it to City Limits works but it can't be saved. It always revert back to default :/
March 6, 2022 at 7:03 am #1782307I have read in DS-forum that they solved again your problem. There is a new update available . version 4.20.0.4! Think about it!!
