I wanted to break this out so it would get more eyes....

The amount of DCMA Takedown Request to hosts sites is escalating, one weapon we could use to fight back is torrenting
but that truly depends on community to be successful.

If you have files to share or have files you want, AND a VPN, then you are already halfway there.

We could all just take our own assets and create torrents with them.
If you got 25 GF8s Sitting in a folder, go ahead and make a torrent. There are bound to be repeats but maybe have a torrent thread where we can list all the assets in the 4GB Torrent we post.
That way, Torrents and the normal system could co-exist.

I am thinking that if the torrents were rather large... 10-500gb... it would be mostly older stuff anyway, and trade in the current single item things would still be robust.

It would be great to get ALL of the GF3/GM3 content in a couple of clicks. Same with V4/M4 G2 etc.

Along these lines... there is a 117 GB Genesis 8 Female Torrent that was put together very well...

I don't think that Torrenting would necessarily "compete" with ZoneGfx, that could really work hand in hand. If it is a single asset, or newer asset, naturally there are several places to look (the Zone being one of em'). But if you wanted a "collection" of DS 4.15 compatible housing, you might be able to get an 20 of them in one go. Torrents are out of reach of an individual Brazilian copy-write infringer.... and there isn't anyone to complain to for a take down.

If the mods added a separate Sup Forum for Torrents, it might grow legs...

One thing I left out, is that you need a Torrent Client on your computer... I currently use Tixati... some of you more seasoned Torrenteers, what are you using/why?

I'm fully behind all of you. I will be adding a DISCORD Channel Section for Torrent Info (no linking), so we don't break DISCORD's TOS and lose the Server.

But we can TALK ABOUT IT and have private discussions via PMs that won't break the TOS in the SERVER space.

I'm going to take the invite code down so the space isn't open to the public anymore.

And I will prune non-users out.

I'd like to get the VENDORS out of there too if we discover who they are.

I also use qbittorrent, and I agree that torrents are really only needed for vendors like 3UK and ROM. maybe we could make a list of vendors whose products require their uploads to be torrents to better guide people so there isn't an overflow of unnecessary torrents for things that could just be posted to the blog with no issue

I use qBitrorrent.. open source.. 🙂

.. and if we are sharing torrents, it would be nice to share a bunch of individual files in a torrent instead of putting them all in an archive and sharing a single archive..
Whoever downloads can select the files they want if they are individual files.. instead of having to download a whole archive to get a single file..

    Like so..

Just to check< did someone already download the torrent. I have not made it "public" and share the torrentfile only on the zone.
Just seeing if things work the way they should

I agree wuth Etheiopia. WE are not all from the same timezone. I do no how it is with you guys, but prices of electric went through the roof. As a result of that I turn my PC of when not in use. So when people wake up in the states, I go to bed, shut down the machine, and some poor Joe somewhere is waiting for ever to get the last 2 MB in 🙂

an other option is "tor by request" I got a lot of stuff, working on a "logical"list of all the assets. We could share lists and request items in a tor if files can not be found on the zone.
