I saw a post for the reverse, but does anyone know the best way to convert G8 textures / morphs to g9? Especially geo-shells. I'm aware of rssy character converter but it's not very good imo
October 16, 2026 at 9:35 PM #2191942There are methods for transferring morphs from G8 to G9. But I don't have anything specific to suggest. A search online will offer you a variety.
Textures though? To my knowledge, the simplest method is using:
Legacy UVs for Genesis 9 Genesis 3, 8, and 8.1 Female
Legacy UVs for Genesis 9 Genesis 3, 8, and 8.1 MaleThey allow you to use G8 textures on a modified G9.
My recent experience with Legacy UVs was using them to apply M4 textures to a G3M figure, which it modified with geoshells to supply the M4 material zones (IIRC). It worked fine.
October 17, 2026 at 8:43 AM #2192011I use Ultimate Unwrap 3D Pro for all texture transfers. It will handle anything from M3/V3 through G9. You just need to utilize clone morphs to make sure the meshes occupy the same 3d space. The conversion process is very fast. The closer the initial match the faster the process. Each converted map is around 30 seconds to completion for a G8 to G9 conversion.
There are several ways to transfer textures...blender, blacksmith3d and wrap3d. I just prefer Ultimate Unwrap 3D Pro for speed of setup and execution. For morphs, I make wearable suits of the meshes I want to transfer the morphs to. To transfer morphs from G9 to G8, I make a suit out of G8 In the shape of G9. Align the limbs and export at base resolution. Then import the new "body"suit and conform it to G9. From there you can apply whatever morph you'd like and the G8 suit will take the shape. Export the suit and you have a new shape morph for G8.
That being said, it is only the beginning. There are several tweaks you will want/need to do. Eyes and mouths tend to get mangled (severity depending on the extremity of the morph). Splitting into head/body morphs...etc. These morph tweaks can all be done within Daz Studio, but are a bit of a p.i.t.a.
