    I've had zero issues with mega, but not really interested in using torrents for my shares. I am gonna try and look for alternative hosts, so that in the future I can post multiple hosts (if needed).

    With regards to uploads - there are many assets that I've brought (such as touchable hair add-ons) - but haven't uploaded them. Sometimes I just wait a month or two. Other times just lazy with them.

    Moving to torrents should seem like Plan E or F. Plan A is to stick with what we're doing. Plan B is using more downloading sites (MediaFile, Google Drive, ect). Plan C could be also including crappier download sites like turbobit, keep2share, or 1fincher which make takedowns hard to pursue. These crappier sites aren't that bad if you buy a membership but free users can still download (it just takes a while).

    It's been suggested several times (e.g. Zemlon stickie above) that a tiered system might be a good idea. Sharers in good standing get access to new items for the first week, then longtime members who don't share new stuff, but participate in contests, offer help in forums, etc get access the second week. From there, you have tiers going down to new member, which gets access to new stuff after a month. Hunter doesn't want to do it and this is his site, so that's that.

    I'm not really big on torrents either. Back in the early 2000's to 2010's I used it often, and my ISP sent me angry "WTF Cut that out" notices. If it comes to that, I will simply just stop using Daz altogether, as it's already a bit irksome as more of a "collectors" hobby and less of a creative one now a days. Not to sound drastic or dramatic.

    I did briefly discuss with Monk limiting the view of the blog posts to registered users only, but as he explained (and as I initially feared) those reporting for takedowns are often "one of us" aka already registered users... the murderer is already inside the house. At this point, I don't know of a great solution, but I really do not want to jump back into torrents.

    And for the life of me, I don't know how to use or what Discord is (ie: this is a person who still doesn't use or understand tiktok and just recently only now began using reddit)

    I'm not sure its been said that we need to "replace" the current system with torrents.

    I'd advocate it as a tool to use "in addition to/along with" the current system.

    That could be facilitated by having either a separate blog for Torrents, or, a spot on the current asset/blog page for torrent magnets.

    Those that are skeptical... well, maintain your skepticism, no guns are going to heads.

    So Goblyn, I dunno how useful this advice would be to you, but getting a basic VPN would save you from getting yelled at by your ISP over torrenting. The good ones can be set up in such a way as to be very easy to turn on and off - or lightweight enough to leave on all the time - so they're not necessarily a big hassle. The hardest part is finding one that both does what you want and isn't pricey.

    Personally, I sprung for one that's bundled with my anti-malware service, but there are also lots of "free" VPNs - meaning they make their money either indirectly or by luring non-paying users into paying for extra features. But some of them are pretty usable even so. Maybe read over this?

    I went and randomly checked some of my posts from the last few weeks that have 5 or 6 file hosts. Most of them have 4 to 6 file hosts still working.

    As I said before, I use free email addresses through free email services and sign up for accounts. Some of the hosts don't respond to takedown requests or they take weeks or months to do anything about them. So that seems to be the best tactic.

    I use a combination of Mega, Zippyshare, Workupload, Mediafire, web3portal.com, and web3.storage. Even my 3DUK stuff still has an average of 4-5 working links. The web3portal.com, and web3.storage hosts say they are some sort of blockchain file hosting. So once something is uploaded, its always there.

    The only issue I've had is the takedown requests to the image hosts. Maybe adding the ability for people to easily add a new image would help.

    I agree with @Redflag to use it as an optional download opportunity on blogs. I have a VPN now @tellisD so I'm sure I'm fine now, but the experience just left me weary of torrents in general, so I've stuck with file share sites since.

    Also, as @ethiopia mentioned, there's the seeding problem. There's nothing more aggravating than having %90 of something stop dl due to lack of seeding. Also, after I dl something and put it to Daz, I usually delete it to save space. I'm sure there's work arounds though.

    But yes, as an option to download, next to the other links, that's fine with me. I had a link I put up taken down in the last two days, so I definitely see the problem.

    I agree - I'm fine with it being an option instead of a replacement. As I said earlier, my ISP simply doesn't care. I can always get a free vpn if they do start to care and I need that option.

    @Bavor
    , thanks for the tips. I already had an account with Mediafire, and have signed up for the rest. I'm not exactly new to this place - but up until a two months ago I just leeched. Now I look at my long list of purchases from various sites, see that they're not here, and plan to slowly (so as to not draw too much attention) start sharing more on the blog.

    Mail.com is a great free email site and I know there are others.

    I wish there was a way we could replace pictures.

    I've also had good luck with mail.com because you can create many alias accounts for your primary account. So if an account gets banned form Mega, you can create a new alias and new Mega account quickly.

    Aside from torrents, what about the idea of allowing users the ability to create mirrors of posts to add to the available links of a download. What I mean is, New upload gets posted to say Mega. Some of the downloaders can download that from the link, then post it to another MEGA, and another downloader posts to yet another mega and maybe also post is to google drive, another poster does similar. Now theres going to be plenty of available links always. The orignal poster should still get the points for each new download, regardless of which link was used, but maybe offer a flat-rate for each new mirror link added for like a reasonable amount x number of points to make it worth their time for creating the mirror.

    I didn't know that about mail.com. I'll bear it in mind. You can also do that with hotmail - I have three aliases with them.

    For fun I went through the deadpost category. I find it highly amusing that DM's stuff was pulled, given that at least the male half of the team pirates, but has always thrown a fit when HIS stuff gets pirated. Ah, the hypocrisy.

    Torrents were how I was able to build my library in the first place, so I'm all for this scheme!

    Something just popped on to my mind..

    Where are we going to put the torrent files themselves.. or will it be magnet links..
    .. cause if its going to be torrent files and we need to upload it again to some file host.. back to square one (sort of).. 🙂

    @littlepleasures 😀 I guess I wasn't clear enough 😀

    I wasn't talking about the torrented files, but about the actual .torrent files 🙂

    We would still need to download the .torrent files from somewhere and we would have to again put them up somewhere like mega, mfire or gdrive..
