I've been using version 4.23.0.1 for a couple of weeks and save workspace layouts all the time without any problem. I like the feature alot.

Does the saved layout work when you first save it? I don't think there is anything you can setup so it defaults each time you start-up Daz.

    Curious.

    Bad-Mojo

With your figure selected look at the Parameters panel.

Click on the "Arrow and Hamburger" symbol (mine is in the upper right corner), choose "Preferences" and choose "Show Hidden Properties". This will show the greyed-out hidden parameters among all the other ones.

Look for the ones with face, jaw or eyes in the name and try dialing them back one by one. Wonky models will often insert these morphs into the base 8.1 figure. Sloppy work by the vendor.

    Example:

eJCMAlsionEyesClosedL is dialed in at 42.4%

If changing this to 0% corrects the distortion, then you know the name of the model is "Alison". Remove that model and reload your figure. You'll get an error message about not finding the eJCMAlsionEyesClosedL parameter, but you should be good to go.

You can also edit the DSON or DUF file, but that is beyond my skill or interest level.

    Bruh,

    Three things you can try.

    1. Put a file named sephiroth.duf in the Scenes directory. If it is there whatever is looking for it will find it and the message should go away. Lord knows what is happening under the covers.

    2. Look at each of the installation files with a DSON editor. I'm guessing one of them (probably in the Data directory) has a reference to sephiroth.duf in the Scenes directory. Remove the reference, re-save and you should be good.

    3. The daz error file may also give more information about the error. Post it and we could take a look at it.

    Good luck.

    Bruh,

When you installed "Sephiroth" the process changed some settings in your system to look for the Sephiroth.duf file in your Scenes directory when you load something new.

Remove "Sephiroth" from your system and the message should go away. I've seen this from various vendors, and it is due to sloppy work. If you reinstall it the problem will return. If you really want "Sephiroth" installed, then create an empty Sephiroth.duf file in your Scenes directory and it will then find the file.

    Goofy, but true.

    More happy.

I had the older DLL in the plugin folder.

    Thanks for the help.

    Biff,

Go to "Help" and "About Installed Plugins" on the menu and it will give you a list of available plugin applications. Next to it is a place to enter the serial number. I tried most of the serial numbers in the "Serial numbers and Instructions" text file and I couldn't get any of them to work.

Of course it could be a ME issue. I'm a bit of a geezer myself.

    Dabbler,

When you erase the brows on a face it usually creates a new face skin. That new skin must not bee getting associated correctly during the save as a preset.

Does this problem occur after a regular save?

    Post your log file.

I've been using PC's for over forty years and have lost a drive or two. Some were backed up and some weren't. Some backups worked and some didn't. Backing up is good, but you also need to occasionally test the backups.

I now have all my important data on a pair of 8TB drives configured as a RAID 1 (mirrored) array. As long as only one drive goes bad I'm good. I still need to do regular backups to be really covered, but I'm fairly safe from hardware failure.

Hold down the "Ctrl" key when you click on the pose and it will offer you various parameters to exclude when it is executed.

I used to categorize things for a living and never liked Daz's categorization functionality, so I roll my own. I don't touch the DATA and RUNTIME directories and only move the DSON files into a new directory structure.

I identify the DSON file of any product(s) I want removed and use the "Content Gather" utility to generate a list of files in the DATA and RUNTIME directories. It is tedious and open to error (deleting common files), but it's simpler than any other method I can figure out.

The best method is to use the Daz native installers, but I'm too anal retentive for that.

Used WINRAR and all worked well. B1 Free Archiver not so well.

Downloaded the companion texture file (Fashion Sexy Sleepwear) from the same filler and B1 Free Archiver worked fine.

    Go figure.

    Thanks all for the help.

    Cold Beer,

I believe it is the files under "data" that impact the loading times and the files under "runtime" that account for most of the disk space used. If you just delete the files in "Environment", "People" or "Prop" the files under "data" and "runtime" get orphaned and become more difficult to find.

I use "Content Gatherer" to identify where the "data" and "runtime" files are that are associated with a particular ".duf" file in "Environment", "People", "Prop" etc. I can choose a particular product's ".duf" and it will tell me where the associated files are located. I can choose multiple ".duf's" and it will give me a file list I can sort by "data" and "runtime". I then manually delete the directories and files.

It is still rather tedious and I sometimes delete common files, but it helps me manage disk space and loading times. I'd love to hear about other schemes other than DIM.
