There are 2 Measure Metric files in the download. One is the installer, that I ran first. Then entered the S/N. Then I updated the MM with the 2nd folder (IM00016684-02_MeasureMetricsForDAZStudio423Win64bit.zip) The 2nd folder is the update (I am assuming, it may not be anything different. I am no expert.) of the DLL file that you move to the C->Program Files->DAZ3D->DAZStudio4->plugins folder.
Once again. Did you delete the DLL file in the Plugins folder and delete any hidden app data, then start from scratch? I really can't do much more than this to help you understand file structure in a Windows computer if you are already not familiar with working inside the directories.
August 9, 2025 at 11:56 AM #2140346I am not sure. But you first put MM manually into the program folder. Did you delete those files before running the installer? I am running the same version of Daz3D. I ran the installer. Copied the S/N. Then used CTRL-V to paste. Then I manually moved the updated file into the plug in folder.
I suggest starting the install from scratch if you haven't already. By purging all the MM files. Other than that. I don't know another suggestion.
August 8, 2025 at 10:51 PM #2140276I installed MM to see if I could help. All I did was run the DS4_MeasureMetrics_1.13.0.1_Win64 application. it installed MM. i then cope and control+V (pasted the S/N. And everything went perfect. I suggest using the application and see what happens.
July 4, 2025 at 11:05 AM #2134855I stopped using Daz3D many years ago. mostly because of life changes and, well DAZ has always been frustratingly buggy. I would love to do A.I. art but right now it is inaccessible with my current setup. So I opened up DAZ again.
I think a bunch of content somehow was deleted off my hard drive. But i had most of the main files and elements going back to Victoria 3. I quickly got back into the flow. Started to build my Content Directory. And remembered how frustrating the whole process of organization and using all the tools to fix the bad models and program.
I built 2 different directories, converted poses, kitbashed skins from Genesis 3 to put on Genesis 8. Has hundreds of morphs to make Genesis 8 look halfway real and usable. And that ole Daz3D frustration level kept rising. Then I tried Genesis 9. So I am building a 3rd new Content Directory focused around Genesis 9. I am enjoying the higher level of realism Genesis 9 has. So far, wrestling of too many morphs and too many bland characters or props that don't work is at a minimal. Hopefully i will feel the same after this weekend.
Genesis 9 is pretty, pretty good so far.
July 3, 2025 at 9:18 PM #2134805Thank you so much to take the time for such a detailed post. I have been away for many years and missed the Genesis 9 introduction. It does remind me a bit of the Original Genesis Female/Male duality in one character.
There is such a depth of product with Genesis 8. It is hard to move into the latest. So when I dove back into rendering again, I went right back to that character. Having so many different products for G8 makes it hard to move away. But I have heard that since Victoria 4.
I have to say. Having explored Genesis 9 for the past week, I am fully impressed by the level of realism you can achieve with that model. In the perfect world., I would have a very clean and organized Library system. With two dozen of the best skins and only great HD character shapes and morphs. At this point, I organize the crap out of my directory. I will take individual morphs that I don't like out of my data folder too. I may find the wall and become disenchanted with G9, as nothing is perfect in DAZ3D world.
I will definitely check out your suggestions since I am moving towards using G9 as my main figure line.
June 22, 2025 at 11:11 PM #2133299I never saw Feng before. Very impressive. I went through aan Anagord phase. Some are really great textures. Thanks for the reply.
June 19, 2025 at 1:19 PM #2132842Thanks for the Reply. I have always liked VKY's skin textures. I am glad someone else sees it.

January 27, 2018 at 3:52 PM #474737I seem to look at the textures for realism 1st. I am still doing tests on all the characters.
Right now in my top folder for
G3 Textures : Ariana, CB Imani, Emerie, Esme, Inola, Molly HD, Nita, Nuala, vyktohria characters. Some Anagord characters have great textures.
January 22, 2018 at 2:50 PM #468966@Dragon It is Gen 8 but I can't remember which character. I set it up and rendered it in less than an hour.
January 21, 2018 at 2:56 PM #467796@Ethiopia yes. I work on tv and movie sets these days and watching those lighting guys or DP's work is really amazing.
January 21, 2018 at 2:30 PM #467760@Ethiopia I would say that is proper photographic lighting. Outside lighting will always overpower inside lighting. You need to have some lighting inside to balance out the outside brightness without killing all the shadows. Usually just a fill light. In photographic terms things are measured in ratios. So if your outside light is 4 times brighter than inside that is a 4 to 1 ratio. Your shadows can also be measure in ratios. A darker shadow is created by a higher contrast ratio. A camera cannot capture a 4 to 1 difference in lighting (outside 4 inside 1) without one being blown out or the other underexposed.
When I photographed stuff I would have to add an inside fill light just to get the balance between inside and outside within the exposure of the camera 1st. Then mess with shadows.
January 21, 2018 at 2:01 PM #467730Lighting has always been the hardest thing in DAZ. I am not a master of it in any way but I do have some photo and drawing theory I can pass along.
One of the objectives of 3 point lighting is to get 3 different tones on your model to shape the surface, move the eye around the model or highlight a certain area. It is a basic drawing technique. Essentially photographers draw with light.
I think HDRIs are great but they ruin good 3 point lighting. They throw light everywhere. Very uncontrollable unlike in a studio situation. So for good lighting turn off Dome lighting in the render settings unless that is what you are looking for. All around room lighting.
The render is done with 3 point lighting and no HDRI. Look at the arm and see how it is shaped by the 3 different tones. Or the head has nice 3 tone lighting. If you look at the hand next to her face you see it is flat looking. There is only 1 light hitting it so it only has 2 tones.
This 3 point lighting is 2 spots opposite of each other with 2 different strengths (distance from model can also be used as how bright/sharp a light is) and a fill light softbox next to the camera. I like JM's proper emmisive lights for rather accurate studio lighting.
You could mess around with this for hours and real photographers plan a photoshoot for days. Hope this helps. Or is at least good.
