Beauty is subjective. But... in this case, I do find that some of the Gen 9 models aren't easy on the eyes. Especially when they're using expressions. Nothing screams realism when I'm looking at certain models' smiles.
Another question would be: why do a lot of these Gen 9 models look the same?
Oh...and no more subscription based lunacy, where things we were able to get for free or buy, is now behind a damn paywall.
either go FULL BUY TO OWN like Poser and then just purchase UPGRADES for you program, and then buy assets extra like normal, or STAY FULL FREE TO USE.
People are sick and tired of the MTX sub based model going on in a lot of these 3D programs, and DAZ is one of them...

like no uniqueness to any of them, all looking the same. at least with Gen 3 and Gen 8, the base models HAD UNIQUENESS and were all different from each other...
Been noticing sort of a trend with the g9 models. Almost every single one of them the noses are totally screwed up. Like unnaturally wide and flat looking. Been removing them and using a VDM brush with zbrush to fix them with the multi res hack
@michealbishop - Oh indeed. And like many have said, if Gen 10 is not back to being Seperate Meshes, which I don't think we are getting a Gen 10. I think Daz's days are literally numbered at this point. But if we didn't, it be the end of DAZ too. But I think DAZ's utter demise is coming sooner than people realize.
I mean, the continued push of AI Generated assets, Game RIPS now being uploaded to their site, and this crappy AI Victoria 9, is just 3 more Nails to add to it's already built coffin...
It is what it is. Clearly whoever is doing the developing over at DAZ, has two bricks shy of a load...
Most people are just trying to get a paycheck and have already been down this road so long they no longer feel like bucking the system. Most people in corporate leadership are tone deaf to customer demand and are trying to force products we don't want. This r@pey business model has been foisted on us for the last 25 years, starting with the 0% down SUV push in 2001 when people were starting to demand lower gas mileage cars. I doubt Daz will go down, but they will realize their product isn't selling as much. The only way they could go down is if/when an indie developer decides to release a similar tool that shifts back to what people want. Until then most people will just wait for someone to make a plugin to fix whatever they screw up at Daz. As far as what corporations want, they want that Blackrock money. A guaranteed paycheck in their eyes. If they get on the teat of Blackrock now, that's the ultimate achievement. Not outperforming competition. They think free market competition is beneath them now. Why are they steering things toward AI everything? Because they do not want people to be creators. They want us to be pigs feeding at the slop trough. Many of the ideas in Sci Fi movies from the 80s are coming true today, like the attitude of corporations toward customers. They want mindless wage slaves, just like in Looker (1981). They do not want us pipsqueaks, no matter how small, to provide something people like better than their control. So the best thing to do is reject everything that has AI tacked on like it's the main feature. Some even go as far as to poison the models if they can. I just won't use it. I'm not going to give my traffic to any site that is offering some AI "service". If I want to run anything specialized it'll be locally and very limited in use. Like upscaling or inpainting, but even then I usually have to retouch things by hand. I'm definitely avoiding the AI 3d model world. We need to get back to creating things in spite of the fact that they want to remove that ability from us.
But to get back on topic, I've noticed lately that there's a disturbing trend where A LOT of the character models have pursed botox duck lips. I spent 3 days trying to find characters that didn't have pursed botox duck lips. It's very uncanny valley. And if it's not that, then their face proportions are stretched to be too long. Or too wide. They either use a Jafar morph, or a Shrek morph. Ugh. I'd rather have normal people than some weird clown world idea of what beauty standards are. Some trends need to die already.

Sometimes it's a common flaw in human thinking, where we people assume that others hold similar enough values that things couldn't possibly be as evil as they are. The mind can't seem to leap over that hurdle and see things out to their natural conclusion when they go unchecked. That there are truly bad people in the world, even in our immediate world, and they will not stop doing bad stuff to us if we just keep our heads down. They have to be smacked hard to stop. There has to be consequences, and when the system refuses to oblige the public that justice, it's left to the pubic at large to push back. Once the mind can get over that obstacle, and you realize that nobody is going to stick up for us except us, it's really easy to see things as they are, rather than how we imagine they should be.
@Josie - Freedom is not freely given, it is earned, as they say. And many are too afraid to stand on their own two feet...
I agree with everything you are saying.
I wouldn't say it's earned, it's paid for in blood, tooth and nail, because some people really don't like others having it. There's something seriously wrong with anyone who thinks they have the right to impose on others, control others, or violate others. Especially absent consent. There are very few exceptions where a human being can intervene with someone else, and that's when an individual or group, is actively violent, unprovoked, and needs to be stopped. And no, someone who is preparing to defend themselves is not an act of violence. No, mean words are not violence. Active physical harm to anyone else outside of your own body is. Anything else short of that can be discussed, or those who disagree with each other can just avoid each other. Sadly, even heads of state can't seem to understand this concept in our day and age.
