    @sandeep Yes it could be - totally agree. When I saw the possibilities when G9 came out (WOW), where it seemed that they had really taken into account how accurate (it was intended) that a man or woman would normally act/look, regardless of age, gender - because apparently the "whole" was thought of Mass, Proportions, Details/detail Strength etc. so everything is up to "you" because here are all the tools to achieve what most people crave, realism - or at least something that in every way - is ahead of the older Genesis characters that had a fine past in the "family".

    But no - unfortunately nothing has been gained by G9, in relation to sorry I have to - repeat myself in non-positive terms.

    A lot of it is perception, like what the Daz store pushes to the front and shows the user, is typically not the BEST looking characters G9 has to offer. And even when you change the sorting options, it's a stubborn feed. But, I can say that the ratio of realistic G8 characters to realistic G9 characters that I personally would use, is overwhelmingly in favor of the G8 collection. G8 just has more of them. So at that point it's simply a matter of numbers. Since the bulk are in G8, I'd prefer to move everything to G8 so I can have full access to all the poses, wardrobes, and morphs for G8. It's more of the "keep it simple, stup1d" approach. Blanket statements are kinda dumb, and frankly both groups have bad looking characters. It's not an indictment on the few characters for G9 that do look good, it's simply pointing out that G9 doesn't have the same incentive to get me to switch to that entire workflow when there are less realistic looking characters in it's pool. Even though I could use G9 already, if I wanted to.

    Neither faction in this debate are wrong.

    It really depends on what parameters matter to you, and what you wish to do.

    If you are into portrait work arguably G9 is superior.

    For anything else IMO G8 is more robust & versatile.

    @eelgoo - What he said.

    But ultimately, as others have said, each gen had issues. But ultimately, the UNIMESH of G1 and G9, are by far the worst.

    And it was narrative DRIVEN with the Unimesh being brought back. Anyone with TWO WAKING EYES could see it.

    I'm going to use Daz to build character sets that I can export, pose, and render in some other engine. Some of the stuff I can use in Daz, like HDRI and shaders, can be used in other engines too. But I can render faster outside of Daz. I really just want some still images. But the camera controls and a lot of other things are so unfamiliar to me, it would just slow me down to learn an entirely new skill set in Daz. The interface has changed a little since I last used it in 2008-2010 (?) But it's not much different, just counterintuitive to my every day muscle memory.

    By the way, if you guys know anyone who is good with knowing HOW to covnert some of these Gen 9 Characters to Gen 8, I'd be greatly appreaciated if you can send them my way. I tried that one tutorial from DAZGuru I think his name is, but I don't think that is a 100% Sure fire way to convert good. So if anyone knows a BETTER Guide or someone that knows how to do it good, please let me know.

    There are some Gen 9 Characters, mainly their Faces, I would love to have to use on Gen 8.

    I'm surprised that no one has made a script or something to convert from G9 to G8 especially the skin textures I think it would sell like crazy given how many people still use G8

    @itsmeNotYou - Oh indeed, including Morphs like their Facial Morph and maybe body.

    Problem is, they can't post ANY of that sort of stuff over on DAZ Store cause the ones running DAZ won't allow it, and don't expect Rendo to allow it either, cause same ones running DAZ are also affiliated with Rendo.

    3Dshards MAY allow it, and MAYBe Renderhub, although with Renderhub's Ongoing Exodus, I hightly doubt it now.

    Probably this site would have to fund it in a way for it to be made.

    Probably the best way to gain the character morph from a G9 would be to export the G9, then reimport it as a G8 morph, apply it to the G8 base model (male character to male G8 and female character to female G8) Then just apply as close an existing G8 texture to the G8 body that you can find. Doing anything more advanced is going to take some skill and patience in an external 3d program. I don't think a simple script would do what people want it to do.

    I've seen at least two people here who are actively converting characters from Genesis 9 to Genesis 8. Those are @poepogue and @kvitravn

    It would be good to work towards a 'plug & play' script, but that said it isn't quite that straight forward.

    I think input from our experts mentioned above would be invaluable.

    @josie - True.

    @Chpugzi - I'll look into asking them.

    @eelgoo
    - Would be nice, but you are right dude. It's not that str8 forward as many would think. And yeah more input from experts who are already ACTIVELY doing it, would be beneficial. Cause as I said, there are G9 Characters I really would want in G8, and I'm just not that knowledgeable on knowing how to really convert them...

    That is sort of where I am at with the situation too.

    TBH for me, it is more that I do not have the modelling skills to perfect a conversion.

    @eelgoo- I probably will ahve that when I start really self learning Blender/Zbrush, but even so. To truly 1 for 1 CONVERT G9 to G8, it will take more than having Modeling skills. Like you also need probably SCRIPTING skills too. Cause even if you do sort of remodeling on the model to make it look more G8 oriented, scrpting will almost for surely do a 1 for 1 better conversion.

    But again, I doubt we have many in here who are good with script writing...

    As the G8F Mesh has specific female mesh densities, you will never get 1 for 1.
    What you usually get is a slightly better looking character in G8F than you had with the G9 original.

    I'm fine with that.

    🙂
