Ive got so much stuff and characters on my HD that ill die before I use them all and im still adding to it almost daily.
Ive even considered re-re-wiping my Daz folder and just installing 20 or less characters but, I probably wont do it seeing that Ive still got a ton of room for more
It would make my choices easier.I downloaded some stuff for the current contest that I might use again but may never use. I download stuff I never install, just incase I might want it some day.
Downloaded a bundle just to get one item.Only contest I think that would give me trouble getting stuff is a toon contest. I dowload almost no toon stuff.
March 27, 2018 at 10:00 AM #547573I loved the contests where you had to use a freebie. It wasn't as restrictive as people said it was. It was fun, imo.
Also, about this contest, the voting would be anonymous for sure now. People seems to much uncomfortable voting for their friends. Having this kind of voting process is about constructive things to the artists so they can improve and do better.
If you prefer the poll where you choose your favorite artwork, feel free to tell me.
March 27, 2018 at 11:55 AM #547669@Aftyr Byrn......Great content management advice, i have 5 libraries but never thought of contest/stage testing only libraries.
@Miarka...You sound like you think using freebies has been banned. If your hosting a contest you still have a choice to use freebies if thats what you want.March 27, 2018 at 12:17 PM #547683I don't feel that Miarka thinks that Freebies are banned, just unpopular. Nobody wants to host a contest that might not be received well by the masses.
I never minded the freebies either. I still use that US Flag from the magazine cover contest, and it works GREAT with dForce. The slime freebie was something I had considered buying because of a render I saw on 'Rosity, but it ended up being a freebie as well.
All in all, the explanation @tomsk used for the justification of the freebies was very sound. Say a contest comes up and the theme is Science Fiction. Odds are, the majority of contestants already have Sci Fi renders on their hard drive. The Freebie removed the temptation to pass off your old artwork as new. You had to creatively incorporate the freebie into your entry.
March 27, 2018 at 12:52 PM #547722Makes sense. Other than being pressed for time, not sure why it wouldnt be ok/fair to use an old render.
The contest so far are pretty inventive enough to force most people into new renders. Not many have rendered record album cover I bet. Only a couple might have already rendered a zodiac.
For me it gives me focus and inspiration.
Ive got several ideas floating around and half made scenes not finished.March 28, 2018 at 12:58 PM #548834yeah, got lots of half made scenes, but i've never gone back. I think it's the A.D.D. in me.
March 29, 2018 at 1:37 AM #549505I'll buy a shirt that doesnt match anything i own.
4 months later Ill buy shorts that dont match anything I own. (at least ive forgotten i own)Then one day i go to pick out something other than work clothes and they match perfect.
That's kinda what i do with my render ideas. Ill have something i want to do. Ill work up to a point znd stop since im stuck. Then Ill see something that would complete it and poof its done.
Contest force me to focus and get it done reguardless.
Its not always what i want but, i try.
I also try to get it done asap cause I dont like it weighing on my mind. Do it, post it, hope for the best. I might try to break that habbit.March 29, 2018 at 2:36 AM #549580Same thing I feel I collect more than actually use 😂. My computer is old anyway so can't render with iray like I wish I could so I'll put a scene together and just save it and wish for the day I can get me a clean render 😭
March 29, 2018 at 10:07 AM #549939Just a reminder that the competition closes April 1st.
March 30, 2018 at 9:59 AM #551126Friends,
I would like to introduce you to a great man in my world.
__Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi__
Born 2 October 1869
Died 30 January 1948 (aged 78)Born and raised in a Hindu merchant caste family in coastal Gujarat, India, and trained in law at the Inner Temple, London, Gandhi first employed nonviolent civil disobedience as an expatriate lawyer in South Africa, in the resident Indian community's struggle for civil rights.
Employing nonviolent civil disobedience, Gandhi led India to independence and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world.
The honorific Mahatma (Sanskrit: "high-souled", "venerable") applied to him first in 1914 in South Africa is now used worldwide.
In India, he is also called Bapu (Gujarati: endearment for father, papa) and Gandhi ji, and unofficially known as the Father of the Nation. After his return to India in 1915, he set about organising peasants, farmers, and urban labourers to protest against excessive land-tax and discrimination.
Assuming leadership of the Indian National Congress in 1921, Gandhi led nationwide campaigns for various social causes and for achieving Swaraj or self-rule.Gandhi's birthday, 2 October, is commemorated in India as Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday, and worldwide as the International Day of Nonviolence.
we can see many Gandhi Jayanti status around the world.

March 30, 2018 at 2:11 PM #551343Update on the voting process.
After a long internal process, I choose to make a survey similar to the Film Noir Contest. I will be using a Google Form (you don't need to subscribe or anything) and I will share the link April 2nd. If the form doesn't work for you, just pm me and I'll give you an alternative.
Each sections of the survey will be featuring an artwork that you will judge on a 1-10 scale for the technical and creative score and I'll give a place for you to write comments/analysis if you want to. It will be an anonymous process. Results will be announced April 5th. I will publish the technical, creative and the average scores, but not the comments. I will send the comments to the artists and ask for their permission to publish them.
Here's an example of what the survey will look like.

If you have questions, comments or anything, please don't hesitate to pm me.
March 30, 2018 at 2:12 PM #551348March 30, 2018 at 2:23 PM #551360@robf4g210 : It took me a while to find what I wanted/needed but I'm pretty pleased with the result. Since it's a close-knitted community, a couple of members asked me to make the voting process anonymous. I subscribed to a couple of free polls/survey but I never got what I needed till someone on a website suggested Google Form. Easy to use for the members, no subscription, a place for comments and it comes with a spreadsheet for the results. Yay! I'm very, very pleased with this contest!
March 30, 2018 at 2:25 PM #551365Just to clarify, you have till the end of April 1st to submit your artwork.
March 30, 2018 at 3:47 PM #551453Thats pretty interesting.
