Hi everyone I haven't been inactive and this is what I prepared for those who are still honing in their productions... but so far so GREAT I think
Here is a painting of Film Noir and let's look at it in detail
As you can see all the ingredients are there right from the start we are drawn to the figure and the gun...The ingredients are the figures cars hats overcoats guns the city heavy bridge and ominous clouds and especially the LIGHTING that film noir INVENTED because those guys didn't have enough money for the standard lighting sets..
That's the focal point the figure and the contrast makes it easier to be drawn to him because his face is in full center of the scene and actually at the center line dividing the hero from the baddies but still with the geometry we can say more about the gun the MAN's EAR the ENEMY the SETTING (bridge clouds city survival...)
Here are the geometrical structures used in the graphic artThe vertical center line structure divides the scene in 2 parts as said the goody and the baddies
As the guy is focusing now on HEARING not SEEING the EAR is placed at the intersection of the golden section lines top right
Same Focal Point since this is survival time and survival place EVERY SENSE is valuable and the GUN/Trigger becomes the Focal Point here since the EAR is one too (by the way this is a great idea for an image Ear Gun Trigger ...darkness ...)Look at this artist's placement of the ENEMY..
With diagonals and reciprocals the bridge is so HEAVY and we can feel the STEEL of the city with the cars...and the cloudy atmosphere...
this is composition which should serve the meaning and without the EMOTION all is nothing and emotion is the creativity part to show us something NEW yet seen but NEVER the same. Ask yourself How do the TECHNICAL components that we have seen contribute to the meaning and to what the artist wants to say?
When evaluating creativity we often think of Emotional Impact then ask yourself
Has this image had an emotional impact on you upon seeing it?
To what extent has the artist managed to communicate MEANING?
Is the message strong?
What makes this image powerful/important/effective?Not easy stuff...

That's when the itche between her shoulder blades turned into a skin-crawl.
"Somethin' ain't right," she muttered, exhaling smoke through her nostrils like some odd street-dragon.
She heard the safety click well before she had the split second to turn around.</i>
