Really sad to hear. I know I'm not active as I used to be (Don't really use Daz much anymore, just holding out hope for a handful of requests) but she was always nice the interactions I had with her.
Rest in peace, Anja. Our lives are better for having known you.
May 26, 2026 at 6:51 PM #2175876It all has to do with weight painting, and which bones in the facial rig affect each other. There's also the fact that expressions were motion-captured, rather than being dialed in manually bone by bone.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bgr_UPOXctQ you can see here that the face rig used in the game doesn't have too much more complexity than Daz models, although they are obviously a little simplified for consumers compared to the rigs used by professionals.
The fun thing is, there is nothing keeping someone from redoing all the weight painting within Daz itself. There's just no reason that anyone with the skill level required would do so.
October 18, 2025 at 7:08 AM #2149433I personally think the game dev stuff should be gone onto another site entirely. But that’s me being a Daz addicted gremlin. I don’t even like video games anymore XD
August 19, 2025 at 9:42 AM #2141790Just click on the female expression in your content library while you have a g8m selected. Works for poses too.
July 16, 2025 at 7:02 PM #2136644There is an automated way of doing so. People who fill requests are free to choose not to do so for whatever reason. You're still obligated to respect their wishes in not posting it publicly (for a period of time. I feel after a month or two it's fair game.)
July 2, 2025 at 7:14 AM #2134494Have you tried using female expressions on males? the dial sliders are for the most part identical, might need to manually tweak some things here or there but yeah I usually poach my G8F poses and expressions for men because there isn't nearly as much content available.
June 27, 2025 at 7:47 AM #2133794Should be really easy to kitbash. Any jeans and normal shoes, long sleeved shirt (you'll have to make a striped texture in photoshop but that should be easy, then just overlay blend the pattern over the texture file for the shirt) A beanie that sits on the head like Waldo's will be the hardest part but if all else fails take something like this
https://www.daz3d.com/bw-lucas-everyday-headwear-for-genesis-9
and add a dforce modifier to it and play with position and dforce settings until you get it to fall the way you want it to.
Hair I think something like this would work
https://www.daz3d.com/adamo-flip-hair-for-genesis-9-and-genesis-8-male
but really any short hair that has the flippy bit in the front to stick out from the beanie is what you want.
Finishing touches:
glasses - https://www.daz3d.com/glasses-set-4-for-genesis-8-and-81
cane - https://www.daz3d.com/old-man-poses-and-walking-cane-for-floyd-8
and if you want to go overboard with his gear from the first book, you could start with this backpack and build from there: https://www.daz3d.com/backpack-series-hd-nomad or look around for a messenger style bag that you see him depicted with more often.
June 24, 2025 at 10:56 PM #2133544Gescon is likely what you're thinking of, I've had...mixed results with it. It works best on simpler geometry, and absolutely horribly on complex models. I was using it to try and fragment/damage some armor/spaceships and it just could not do it in a satisfactory manner.
February 8, 2025 at 3:43 AM #2116969Same here, actually.
January 9, 2025 at 6:25 AM #2112715It's definitely that one, and probably just a texture recolor.
December 15, 2024 at 8:39 PM #2108315Daz's feature set targets the hobbyist market (it has almost no commercial use cases), while Daz assets are largely priced for the professional market. This is disjointed and leads to hobbyists not willing to pay those prices, and professionals not willing to consider using the software due to its limited feature set and jank.
That's really the reason why Daz piracy thrives so much. By distributing the cost of assets among a larger user base, hobbyists can use it more easily. Take that away and most people will leave Daz entirely, not convert into high-value paying customers.

December 13, 2024 at 1:30 AM #2107744My only concern is, like I said earlier, I sometimes go weeks/months without getting online (at least on the opsec level I use for piracy and other sensitive online activity), and I have some obscure items on my offer list that haven't been filled for months/close to a year. If someone fills one of those while I'm off in Mexico or working on a paper or studying or working overtime, I'm gonna be worried that I won't have a chance at getting it. Something like that may never get filled a second time, you know what I mean?
December 11, 2024 at 7:26 PM #2107595I went ahead and bought the bundle on here to do some file analysis. It's possible it's using entirely too many/too large texture files, or the morphs aren't optimized.
Edit: Holy shit the materials are poorly optimized. Each "material" file (of which there are like 30+) is a 20MB file. I don't have the stuff in front of me to analyze everything that's being done in each of those files but there's absolutely no reason each one should be that big.
December 11, 2024 at 5:54 PM #2107584If an individual item (not a bundle) is over 2GB installed, it goes on my slower library drive (an 8TB Sata SSD) over my main library drive (a 4TB m.2 SSD). Mostly that drive has billboards, HDRI packs, and a handful of really poorly optimized outfits.
This hairstyle would get a nope out of me unless I was doing a specialized project that it made sense for.
