@Frank22 This guy does some awesome stuff. Easy to follow too.
I've converted a bunch of G9 character morphs using that tutorial to G8.1 (including Sepideh G9) unfortunately the eyes and teeth/mouth area are almost always screwed up, so I reset them to the default 8.1 features, then have to manually reposition the origin/location/scale + their bones and eventually ERC freeze them in position. It takes a while but you can have the original G9 model loaded in the scene to perfectly position everything.
I'm curious about texture conversions from G9 to G8.1/8, so i'll be watching this closely.
August 31, 2022 at 2:30 AM #1861965Those prices are craaazy. In Canada I can get a 3090ti for roughly 1600~ CAD (before tax). There's one on sale for 1800$ atm, and it's gone even lower. Gigabyte 3090ti's have hit 1500-1600 CAD.

@Gladson1976 True, but we're on a very strange precipice atm. We have all 3 major manufacturers releasing something new in the next month or two. We have AMD's 7000 CPU range next month, Nvidia's 4000 range vid cards next month~ish, and then Raptor Lake in roughly 2-3 months. We won't see a new Nvidia vidcard, AMD/Intel CPU for a while.Nvidia releasing them on a bi-yearly basis (3000 range released in Sept 2020), so you won't see a new card probably till late 2024.
It's actually a perfect moment to either wait a couple of months for something better and won't be replaced for a while (at least a year or two) or to wait for older gen stuff to go on massive sales (just like the AMD cpu's just did).
@enjoyify If something bad where to happen between China and Taiwan, only AMD would be largely affected. 99% of Intel prefab's are location in USA (California mostly) and Nvidia's are located in South Korea (if they're still using Samsung's 8mm prefabs). Some of nvidia's gpu's are made in Taiwan, so it would affect themslightly, but AMD would definitely be affected the most.August 30, 2022 at 11:31 PM #1861934Honestly the 4000 RTX range is right around the corner, with early benchmarks showcasing absolute monsters (4090 having more then double the clock speed of a 3090, and scoring roughly 90% faster on benchmarks, albeit being a big power hog). They'll be out late September/October for the 4090 range, and then a few weeks after the rest should be released. Edit: A 4070 will beat a current 3090ti, and be roughly 20-30% faster.
I'm in almost the same situation (I just bought a 12900ks/Z690 Aorus Master/32GB DDR5/Case/PSU at big discounts) and all I was missing was the video card, so I went to the store with the longest return policy, and bought a temporary 3070. My friend has a membership @ BestBuy Canada, so I have roughly 60 days to return it and grab a big 4000 range card in a month or two.
Also assuming the 3000 range cards will drop heavily in price once they officially announce the 4000 range release date, just like current AMD cpu's dropped yesterday a ton when they announced the 7000 series.
If you REALLY want to buy something now, then you can probably get a good high core count AMD cpu for a huge discount. Just know that the motherboard you purchase for it (AM4) will not not work with the 7000 range (AM5). However, if you buy an Intel mobo you'll have the option to upgrade to the Raptor Lake range late this year (same socket LGA1700). PLUS have support for DDR4 AND DDR5 on both cpu ranges, Alder/Raptor Lake, just not both types of ram at the same time.
You have a LOT of choices now, just look up the relevant benchmarks and reviews on them.
Happy CPU/GPU hunting, 😛
March 29, 2022 at 1:21 PM #1789881Not sure where you are getting that from. It’s telling me:
NVIDIA STUDIO DRIVER – WHQL
Driver Version: 512.15 – Release Date: Tue Mar 22, 2022Both on the site and via GeForce experience.
Ah, I was looking @ standard drivers (those stopped being updated last year), DCH are being updated. Honestly I've never used studio drivers (for any of my 3d rendering/modeling programs) so I didn't even know there where variations of that driver set.
March 29, 2022 at 6:56 AM #1789756When you reinstall the drivers, make sure to choose “Custom” and then check the box for “Clean Installation.” This deletes everything before reinstalling. It’s the best method (besides DDU) when upgrading to a new card.
If you're talking about Nvidia drivers, that option only resets driver settings and clears your profiles. It's not a full "delete".
As others have mentioned, clear out your (old) drivers with DDU, then update to the newest ones. They should be "GeForce Game Ready Driver WHQL 512.15 March 22, 2022", they just came out a few days ago.
"Studio" drivers haven't been updated in a while, "NVIDIA Studio Driver WHQL 472.84 December 13, 2021"January 2, 2022 at 9:21 PM #1763287500 points, PM please!
Edit: Damn, did I miss out on this? =(
