May 20, 2018 at 3:58 AM #611039(Also just to clarify I thought Tootsie was admin at first, thought they said 'us admin' whoops read too fast)
May 20, 2018 at 3:33 AM #611020Anyway, this site has left a bad taste in my mouth with some of the members' mob mentality (burn the witches!) and then the throwing under the bus when someone is attempting to put some things into perspective regarding the points system, and offer up a few solutions (there were two new members that came out and said they were confused about the wording on the site 'create post' ).
There are many other ways to get content either than ZoneGFX if people look hard enough (like closed free groups that I'm a part of, that open up once in a while), and none of it requires any sort of point system which I think may be clouding the natural creative community of sharing and respect. I regret making any posts at all and will give my remaining points to random new members I see appear, and be on my way @Tootsie
May 20, 2018 at 2:55 AM #610989@Tootsie I'm just trying to think of solutions to prevent future upheaval/exaggerated complaining from members over mistaken posts. If there's anything that will prevent me from caring about this site and the administration, it's comments like you just posted, which I feel do nothing to solve anything.
May 20, 2018 at 1:34 AM #610922Just had an idea since the site is allowing members to upload material to the site, why not let the market decide and let members set their own price for content that is custom or not that's uploaded, with a cap on content that's uploaded that isn't custom (like 150 pts), and no cap on those uploading their own custom content. If I'm modelling a two headed dinosaur that can blow fire in Zbrush and then put the work into texturing and rigging it for DAZ, I'd probably want to ask 1500pts for it if I'm going to upload it here (but I also like the idea of keeping good to the spirit of sharing art and putting stuff out for less, or free)
If somebody doesn't want to buy something because it costs too much and a person isn't getting any points for it, then they have the choice to lower it. I'm only suggesting this because I've seen or downloaded things that I think should be a lower or higher point value. I think this would also help people parse out the actual value of tools and materials, and/or find ways to use what they have instead of obsessively hoarding (come on we've all been there). When up-loaders can use their common sense to determine a fair value for items.
May 20, 2018 at 1:11 AM #610909And yes I'm going to own my own turd and say it is my fault for not reading more on how the posting works, or asking more questions. But by the same stretch all of you complaining about refunds or getting your money back for stuff you'll get returned in less than a week anyway just by logging in...
It says right next to the button you press to buy the content, how much it costs but you clicked it anyway.
May 20, 2018 at 1:01 AM #610905@Amber if we want to split hairs here about defrauding, the 150 points is 2/3 free from a site visit, so free after a day and a half. If going by the 'get points now', 1000 for $5, then even if people were seeing the cost and still willingly paying 150 points for the software I posted, which costs $199 on steam It literally costs them less than a dollar
People need to stop treating other members like they are breaking the law when all of you complaining about this technically already are.
@illithod:
Please do note that there are two we separate links to upload content;”Add Post” and “Add Custom Content”. One will not do the other’s function, so if the intent is not to defraud, then BE SURE to hit the correct link.
IMHO, I think Custom Content should remain as-is, but must be approved by a human admin. This shouldn’t be a problem given that actual CC is few and far between, and generic content easily discerned.May 19, 2018 at 11:04 PM #610814@Tootsie excuse my ignorance, but this thread is about a 500pt custom content, I thought the gradation from what I've just been seeing works something like 500pts for custom content, 150pts for software/tools/plugins, and 50pts for items or assets? I don't really think it's pure and simple because I know what I clicked, and it was 'tools/plugins' and not custom content.
Wait a minute... I see that the custom content button is right beside the upload post button, maybe it would help to move the custom content button across the navigation bar
I can see how I might have clicked it accidentally
I think that it should be clarified by changing the navigation bar to.
ADD CONTENT
ADD CUSTOM CONTENT
As it is now, it's confusing seeing 'Add Post' when post is normally associated with adding a post to a forum or something.
You got the 150 points because you uploaded it to custom content. Now that it has been put in the correct area it now is the 15 points. Pure and simple.
May 19, 2018 at 8:52 AM #610018And to be honest @Amber, I'm not entirely sure how the points system works on this site yet anyway; it seems like after a number of items are sold it defaults down to 15 points, so right now I'm getting 15 points for Akeytsu if that makes you feel any better in case you were thinking there's some conspiracy going on to abuse the point system.
Agreed that custom content, should be from creators themselves which can take a deal of time to make.
May 19, 2018 at 8:15 AM #609980Hi Amber, I hit the 'tools/plugin' button when submitting Akeytsu, I am very orderly when I submit things and I apologize if some kind of glitch ended it up in the 'custom content' section.
I'm a graphic designer/artist and also take time to assemble custom content in hopes it benefits other artists and creators, I'm not here to try and abuse anything. When I saw the scaling of price (150 for a software/tools/plugin) it seemed reasonable at the time since I see 50 points being made over a small item or utility in DAZ, when something I took time to package and submit which I found really interesting and cool that I hope more people pick up and learn. (and btw I hate how companies like Maya charge so much money to use their software, and have dominated the world of animation in 3d).
Akeytsu is a 3rd party software widely available, even on Steam

This should DEFINITELY have been posted under tools/plugins, and not as Custom Content… unless the poster can provide compelling evidence he/she is the developer… in which case, WHY would you pirate-sell your own paid-for product?!?!May 6, 2018 at 10:10 PM #596038Not bad at all, I like the environment and setting, though I feel it could benefit from some spookier lighting to bring out the foreground models and areas of interest, maybe dim red/orange dawn or dusk, or even eerie white moonlight that casts sharp black shadows.
The pastel 'sickly' purple in the sky and around the image actually works nice, I just think there needs to be more contrast on figures against the background; so imagining them as graphic shapes, you can choose to make them more silhouetted against the backdrop with parts of them slightly illuminated (like a band or tip of light across her forehead/eyes while her lower body is cast in shadows)
Or illuminate the foreground models a lot more and have her entire upper body banded with light, and the zombies have just tips or parts of them showing in the light.
Lighting is probably the hardest thing I'm still getting used to, but just trying to help out with some of what I learned while doing formal 2D stuff. I've noticed when dealing with 3D it helps to put up primitive shapes off-camera to partially obscure or block a ray of light, which can allow you to get some nice dramatic lighting; like a building or object is rising up off-screen which can compel the audience to use their imaginations more too!
May 6, 2018 at 7:20 PM #595904Not bad! I really like how the colors and reflections on the water play with the sky.
May 5, 2018 at 10:18 PM #594914Mari is apparently really good but I haven't been able to get my hands on it. Also, I intend to try out Mudbox when I can; while I think Zbrush has much more in the way of artistic tools to shape and manipulate digital clay, Mudbox from what I've read and seen/watched, is more intuitive handling normals (painting real time and seeing the full texture/bumps/specular etc)
May 5, 2018 at 11:06 AM #594356Oh yeah, he was fresh out the door in the first pic and excited for the walk; he makes looks at me if I stop and take photos. It was a crazy day and teased him by taking him part way through the park and pointing out to the vast 2ft snow wasteland and telling him: "We gotta go through this bud!"
Needless to say he happily bounded back through the fissures we created when I'm like: "naw lets go home."
May 4, 2018 at 3:15 AM #592978These pics are from just over a month ago when we got a massive snowfall over the course of a week, and I took him for a walk.
