DAZ assets has always been based on 'extreme' sex stereotypes, which is why you'll almost never see any authentic looking military gear for female characters in the Daz assets. I've seen Daz used for everything from comics to book and cd covers or just for fun so the target audience is essentially anyone and everyone.
Daz characters and assets aren't really suitable for games if you ask me. Sure in visual novels (adult or otherwise) they work, or if you make sprites out of renders or something like that.
Yes, they're alluring for a solo dev or a small group because the one thing programmers usually can't do, i.e. create great looking graphics, comes easily with Daz and Daz characters and that's the issue right there - Daz models, in particular the latest gens, are way too detailed and has too high resolution to work fine in a game where you play 'in real time', such as a shooter. Sure, you can fix it by using decimators in Blender and what not to reduce everything.
You're better off finding assets in the Unity or Unreal asset store - less work with those, but since you're not concerned about piracy which means you're unlikely to release the game, why not just rip characters and assets from a game like Arma or DayZ SA? Both have female characters and both have a plethora of authentic looking military gear.
July 5, 2024 at 5:07 AM #2081909I only use Windows Defender. I don't really download a whole lot other than some games, Daz stuff and video files from a handful of rippers and repackers. That's about it.
I used to use RogueKiller, although never any paid version and never real-time protection, it used to work really well but I can't speak for it now. Nod32 was also one of the go-to protections way back when, not sure how it is now.
May 3, 2024 at 8:57 AM #2073198Just glancing through reddit and similar places, it appears to work well with Blender.
Here's a rather good video of the non-Pro in action (turn subs on if you don't speak Spanish).
The person in the video is clearly using Windows if you look at the taskbar and I doubt it would have changed between the non-Pro and the Pro version.

Could be this one:

I see Daz as more like photography, where the key component is composition and various settings, but I see Blender as more like a tool to create assets and environments.
Now I know that's an over simplification - I know people use Blender to create amazing scenes from scratch. But that's just my way of looking at it.
I chose Daz cause I don't have the patience or time to create the things I want to create in Blender. I've dabbled in Blender, creating small assets (things like coins, wooden planks to make a bridge, barrels, treasure chest, jewels etc.) or following tutorials and in many cases - Blender is so much more intuitive and smooth to use as a program than Daz, however... without countless hours, literally years, of practicing, I won't be able to create a high poly photo-realistic human character in Blender, I can create a low-mid poly stylised room though.
