I was curious why people choose Daz 3D for their projects? I'm personally starting out in Blender at the moment, but was curious what the appeal is with Daz over other programs. Does it have to do with the breadth of erotica content for Daz or is simply easier to use?

Great part is you don't have to choose. I like taking Daz assets and rendering them in Blender.

Studio is eeeeeaaaaasssy. I use Blender a lot and have been at it for over 20-some years. I love Blender but it's got a steep learning curve while Studio is much easier. Someone with no experience and little knowledge of 3D can make a decent scene in a few minutes.

And ya, all the weird porn helps.

DS is a very simple prog to learn compared to Blender. Before DS got Iray I used to export to Vue or C4D and that was a seriously convoluted process but worth it for the lighting.
Having a continuous supply of new models is also a positive (so you can hoard them, fill up your drive and never use them 😢)
Edit - I see Ethiopia posted that before I did.

To me, Blender and Daz are two completely different things. I see Daz as more like photography, where the key component is composition and various settings, but I see Blender as more like a tool to create assets and environments.

Now I know that's an over simplification - I know people use Blender to create amazing scenes from scratch. But that's just my way of looking at it.

I chose Daz cause I don't have the patience or time to create the things I want to create in Blender. I've dabbled in Blender, creating small assets (things like coins, wooden planks to make a bridge, barrels, treasure chest, jewels etc.) or following tutorials and in many cases - Blender is so much more intuitive and smooth to use as a program than Daz, however... without countless hours, literally years, of practicing, I won't be able to create a high poly photo-realistic human character in Blender, I can create a low-mid poly stylised room though.

If the question is "Why choose Daz 3D?", it would be better to ask what you are doing here. 😀
Now, seriously: Everyone uses Daz in their own style. From porn comics to, like me, simulations of industrial design objects. But, basically, it is because of the variety of characters you can create, which is quite difficult in other software; Varying morphs, you can have an old man from Japan, or a girl from Zaire.
Having the base of a Genesis (which is a framework...), you can create millions of variations quickly.
And, later, you can animate them to make a small film or a photo for an advertisement in Maya/MotionBuilder, Cinema 4D, Blender, etc... or Daz himself.
The only problem with DS is that Iray is slow. Other programs are open to more powerful rendering engines, but for beginners, in two days you will be bored with how simple it is.
Another problem is its peculiar scripting language, but those things are for some crazy people who are already bored with Python.
