I just wanted to say that after using the new Request system at the front of the site, I can easily say it's amazing. Love the work you guys have done. Great job. Makes requesting and filling 100 times easier.
Get the essentials and the basic figures for starters. Genesis 9 is out so I suggest you update to 4.21 and get that as well.

@enjoyify that's exactly what I was talking about. Thankfully the site comes back each time, but having a place where we can all discuss things and keep the community going, in case the worst happens, would be nice. I am not saying to make the discord server into a pirate hub where people share links and openly talk about piracy and illegal stuff, but just discussing things and having an alternative network for the community is something.
@littlepleasures Nah, you assume wrong. I don't really care. I just thought that the site would benefit from a private server with known people. If you personally don't like to use Discord then absolutely nobody is forcing you to do so, lol.

What prevailing preference?! The ~3 people that took their time to debate with me on this? I doubt even 5% of the people visiting the site saw this topic because nearly nobody goes to the General chat in the forums.
Who tried what and how did it fail exactly? I see absolutely no valid reason in @littlepleasures explanation. He only said he uses Discord for 1 on 1 chat with clients. I have a feeling most of you haven't actually used discord enough to make a compelling argument on why this is a bad idea, outside of the potential trolls and vendors which can easily be avoided if you make it a private server with private invites.
I am not going to argue with anyone though. I see there is not enough interest, so I drop my case. This topic can be locked now so I don't get notifications anymore. Thanks.
@ethiopia If I had the time to moderate one I wouldn't have made this topic to begin with. But I see nobody else cares. Unfortunate.
Well, discord needs a functioning community for it to work properly. But I am confident there's enough people here who are regulars and who would love it if they gave it a shot.
Making a new discord account takes literally 1 minute and you can easily switch between different accounts now as of last update, you don't ever need to logout. You can even use web browser, you don't need to install the app.
There's already moderators in the forums, they could easily be moderators in there as well. As for how to verify someone and weed out potential trolls/vendors is by having only one person give out invitation links to the server via PM here on ZONE only to people who are known to the community. It's really not that hard.
I am not saying Discord should replace the forums. I am saying it should be an addition to people who are active and what to chat about similar topics, either vendors, models or otherwise. It's far more convenient. Also, the scrolling thing is only a problem in mega servers where there is over a thousand people who chat all the time. That won't be the case with 100 or less. Also, discord server channel separation makes that easy to not have a cluster of topics in one place and build up spam.
But why?
For chatting, for discussing stuff around daz studio, for sharing stuff, for having a backup server with zone members in case something happens to the site. You know? A safe haven.
It's far simpler to send a message in discord than opening a thread here and waiting for a response that might never come. Discord servers are far more active and usually only people that care about the topic are in them.
A simple example: A few weeks ago, Anja warned us not to reply in a topic about the infamous 3DUK, because it brought bad attention for the site in Google searches. This will never be a problem in a discord server as they are a private thing. Also, even if a discord server is in trouble, it won't make trouble for the main site.

Below is normal banner taking 100% of the screen and above is banner removed with adblock. I find the first photo to be much better looking.
@amberkat I have nothing against the current banner art. It just takes a lot of space when you just want to enter the site and check the new posts and not be presented with a banner that takes 90% of the screen (at least on my PC browser).
