You think that's amusing? I think it's disgusting and pathetic! Sorry, but I'm just wired differently.
August 17, 2026 at 5:23 PM #2184938I feel that many have missed one important point, the fun in the creation process.
If you've ever built plastic models you'll know exactly what I'm getting at. I've spent hundreds of hours on a kit making details from scratch and enjoyed every second of it. The finished models sit on shelves and I fondly remember the fun doing it. I get the same enjoyment (and challenge) in Studio. Deciding on an interior setting, picking furniture and props (maybe kitbashing some original prop or gizmo), adding characters, dressing and posing them to interact with each other and the props (or monsters, aliens), then fiddling with lighting is great fun.
Making something in AI skips over all that. I want AI to do the draping (dFarce has GOT to go) and the final rendering (Iray likewise needs an enema), but the fun of creation? THAT's what AI can't provide.August 17, 2026 at 7:29 PM #2184943AI is for lazy people with absolutely no talent. It’s no coincidence that it’s heavily used by that clown in the White House.
August 17, 2026 at 9:13 PM #2184951Let's be honest...DAZ Studio is akin to 'playing in Barbie's digital Dream House'. It doesn't matter if it's Barbies or superheroes or monsters or fashion or pornography. Okay, it's a holodeck, if that helps you feel better about it. Whereas AI is closer to 'every image already exists', and you may ask AI to show you the image(s) that most closely resemble(s) your request. It's essentially that simple. Both scenarios require employing imagination, artistry, and knowledge of the program to produce QUALITY results that are inevitably subject to interpretation. Just like every other creative pursuit; cooking, playing music, writing, acting, fucking, etc. Either scenario requires tweaking, tweaking, and more tweaking to produce a satisfying version of one's vision. Some people (most people?) in both scenarios, couldn't give a flying fuck through a rolling donut hole about quality (and certainly not my definition of quality). The majority of results is...average. Just look at most any image gallery as proof. But what can we expect when the vast majority of people is...average?
But I'm going to presume they have fun making images.
Also...what's with kids these days? That isn't 'music'! And their hair is too long! Get a haircut, you hippy punk! And the gas prices are too high! In my day we respected our elders! I had to walk everywhere in the snow uphill both ways! When I was a kid I mowed lawns all day to pay for my cigarettes at 30¢ a pack! And get off the damn phone!
August 18, 2026 at 10:58 PM #2185042Take ANY scene from https://www.youtube.com/@ChloeVSHistory
and imagine how much it would cost to buy all the models, props, clothes, building models, hair styles, tattoos, etc with Daz.I think Daz is cooked.
August 19, 2026 at 6:06 AM #2185055Ahem..."buy"?
Yes, there will certainly come a point. To quote Agent Smith, "It is...inevitable." AI image generation will exceed its current limitations. It will be able to produce interactive 3D scenes. There's no question about it. And yes, DAZ3D will be forgotten like spats and pantaloons.
But when? Tomorrow? Next year? In five years? That was your original rhetorical question.
And so what? What's the point of your prediction? Are you suggesting we should all abandon using Studio in favor of AI image generation? Because...no. I don't want to.
August 19, 2026 at 9:16 AM #2185085are you saying that grok can actually create 3D models? so if I asked it to create various clothing that would fit the genesis 8 female model that is something it would be able to?
August 19, 2026 at 10:32 AM #2185090Folks are already using AI to create 3D models. The one AI utility I know of is called Meshy.
( https://www.meshy.ai/ ) There's others too. People like Powerage over at Rendo are already using it. From what I've read, the meshes it creates aren't great BUT they provide a starting point for you to fix up. I'm VERY intrigued by this and hope to have the spare time to give it a go. I have a pile of ideas I'd love to try.August 19, 2026 at 11:55 AM #2185102Let's be real. Until AI can create quality porn locally, 3D modeling is going to continue to be around. At least half of what is created with DAZ is porn from what I can discern. Afaik, AI is highly limited on being able to reproduce what DAZ users can create. Seems the best use of local AI solutions currently is to enhance DAZ renders. Admittedly, this is based on what I was seeing a couple of years ago, so things may have changed.
August 19, 2026 at 5:09 PM #2185125This thread got me thinking so I did some snooping. ALL the image or text to 3D require money...except for this one, https://modly3d.app/
It's free, open source and runs on your own computer.
I've downloaded it and will give it a go. I have a head full of seriously sick, twisted, strange, bizarre, warped, weird and just plain messed up ideas I'd like to sick this thing on. There's also a pile of AI generated gizmos I've collected that this 'Modly3D' thingy might have fun with.August 19, 2026 at 5:23 PM #2185126Why not learn to sculpt instead? It's much more rewarding.
August 19, 2026 at 6:11 PM #2185129@supreme-leech There is perchance.org/generators. It's all free and browser-based. Lots of AI generators to try.
