I wanted to start this thread for a while now.

Let's make a list of vendors that sells G9 characters, but ACTUALLY WORK ON THE BODIES.

There are so much (good) vendors that sells G9 characters that looks very well in the face, but the bodies seem generic and "one size fits all". Everything more or less the same, and when you install it manually, you get the message "there are 19 files with the same names, do you want to replace them?"... Body files.

So, I'll start with the first one I really think that actually work on the bodies, bodies are highly realistic, have a great textures on his characters and the characters differs one from the other. He's deprecated, put in the corner for no reason (maybe I'm just stupid and can't realize the reason, tho).

I'm using his chars, and all are great.

What are the vendors that you respect for their work and use their characters often? Please share the links to their stores in the comments. And share the experience in using their characters and why you prefer to use them.
    Thanks!

@antharaes Imagination is strong in RawArt models, but like you, I'm not using them, so I can't talk more about it. Personally, something is off to me in his models, can't really put my finger on it, but I simply don't really like the textures and overall models.

Some of the most detailed, anatomically accurate, and attractive bodies are made by Daz Originals in my opinion.

@jabaduhut You are right. I have almost all of the Daz Originals models, including the ones from the vendors I never use, such as MSO, Chrryt and others...
But if they're published as DO, I have to have them. Obsessive hoarding 😀

That is the old OCD kicking in, just about everybody here has that to some degree. 🙂

The DO G9 characters have some of the most unique bodies in the generation. I’ve yet to see a PA really take the time to create a custom body morph. About 99.99% of them rely on merchant resource morphs or similar shortcuts and call it a day (https://www.daz3d.com/exart3d). And when they do attempt something original, it often ends up looking like a deformed sex doll, like HH Scarlet or HH Lilith (https://www.daz3d.com/herschel-hoffmeyer), which is a shame because that PA is genuinely skilled.

If I had to pick a character to use as a body template, it would be a DO core character or probably Aleda or Damira because of their JCMs (https://www.daz3d.com/nerdworks).
Uncanny Valet also offers some distinctive masculine body morphs, with body asymmetry sliders. (https://www.renderhub.com/uncanny-valet).
Feng also does unique, detailed and realistic bodies (https://www.daz3d.com/feng)

As for RawArt, I bought most of his G8/G8.1 characters back in the day, but now when I look at his G9 releases, they feel like a major step backward:

The faces seem to have declined over time, as many of them look like they have some kind of undefined syndrome. Even the cat add on gives off odd vibes; it always reminds me of that albino tiger. The tiny irises on every single new character don’t help either, they’re pretty unsettling.

What’s frustrating is that new tech is constantly improving. By 2026, sculpting and texturing are far easier than they were in 2020, yet the textures here aren’t reusable at all.
If you buy a character just for the geograft, you’re stuck with that specific texture set unless you make your own. On top of that, people have been asking for years to split morphs into head and body, but he still refuses, forcing users to rely on Shape Splitter or other clunky tools to be able to mix characters, which is crucial in Daz.
Maybe it’s a holdover from this “make a product in 7 days” era, but either way, the products just don’t look good anymore, and that’s inevitably going to hurt sales.

@eelgoo I can't help that OCD. I made the call to remove all the vendors I've never use, but had dozens of their models in the program, so now I'm left with only a handful of vendors and DO.
    258 models of DO G9. 🙂

    @otero33
You are absolutely correct. For RawArt I feel the same, as mentioned before. Some of his old G8 models are fine, but I've decided to completely move on to a G9, erasing all G8 stuff from my HDDs.
If I remember correctly, there was a thread on DAZ where he announced his retirement from modelling, but I guess he struck some kind of a deal with DAZ and he's making models again. Not my fav vendor for G9, tho.

In my handful of vendors that I use, Feng and NerdWorks are a must have, same as Kooki99. All of their models are taking a lot of space because of the details, but worth it.

I remember that I had some of the Uncanny Valet models, but he's gone from my system, mainly because I have enough of male lookalike models like his. Maybe in a future I'll change that decision, it comes to me impulsive from time to time 😀

[EDIT] Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention - When I collect models from a vendor, I try to collect them all, neverminding the quality of older models, but they need to be there 🙂
Completionist, I can't help that OCD.

@slanna, I try to be optimistic about anything Gen 9 related, but I'm just not a fan of those lazy, dopey-looking bods. Morph-wise, Gen 8 still clears the 9 series, sadly.

3 of the vendors you've mentioned are like my go-to when it comes to morphs. Versus in the Genesis 8 series, I had a plethora of options.

Gee, @slanna, I have done the opposite!

I am much more inclined to delete anything G9 in favour of G8!

    @peepshow45 @eelgoo

I'm using DAZ as a side tool for model animation in Blender. And because I'm not doing NSFW work, body is more or less not that important to me.
What matters to me is high-poly mesh, different shapes, sizes, ethnicities and great looking textures.
Most of the G9 vendors nowadays makes robots - same in size, facial structure, so-so in textures.
But for me, G9 provides exactly the high-poly mesh that I need in Blender, so it's my first choice.
I just want and need to: load model -> apply MATs -> export to Blender -> animate.
Not to mess around a lot with morphs and tweaks.
G8 is good and with a lot of possibilities, but also with a lower poly count. I use G8 for NPCs and even decimate them.

For example - MSO, as one of the top PA on DAZ - I have none of his models except DO ones. If you have one, you have them all. Just a few facial tweaks and new model is there.
But, I still collect his models, tho 🙂
I see that he's trying something new with teen and male models, we'll see how that goes.

Preference is mainly driven by what you are attempting to do, so that makes perfect sense given your goals.

I did, done that before G9 generation. Now I don't have to.

Those """new""" Mouso models are Frankensteins made from their female products with Base Masculine Head applied basically (well, to be fair all of the females are frankensteins of A or B female character already released).

The """"new masculine characters"""" textures are from already existing characters, those """new""" masculine products don't even include Genitalia textures, which I don't use myself but indicate once more the decadence and laziness of those PA's.

The Difusse, Roughness, Specular and SSS are clearly from at least other 4 characters and even merchant resources.

Avoid supporting this kind of scams, they are on the same level as those Shooting Stars Shits recyling Daz Originals.
