September 4, 2018 at 4:12 AM #744295I love these vehicles but they're kind of difficult to work with if they're not rigged. It'd have been nice to be able to turn the front wheels a bit or maybe drop the driver's window mesh onto the side of the car. Any ideas?
September 4, 2018 at 5:07 AM #744321I can tell you a way to cheat. Load two versions of the model. Hide all of he second model but one of the front wheels. Hide the front wheels on the first model. Position the second model so that the one front wheel that is showing, is where it looks like it belongs to the first model. At least you can then render with it appearing that the front wheel is turned.
Other than that you have to learn a bit about modelling to turn the wheel part(s) of the mesh.
BTW the model does look good 🙂
September 4, 2018 at 5:13 AM #744326I would have tried that but the whole model is one piece. You can't delete bits and pieces lol! And I was on the asset's site and it's like $129 haha! Well it definitely looks great in the render but come on! Oh well I got it for 50 pts so I'm not complaining, just funny.
September 4, 2018 at 5:14 AM #744329But you can turn surfaces to invisible 🙂
September 4, 2018 at 5:47 AM #744356Hmmm! I'll get back to you!

You're going to run into that issue with most of the vehicles uploaded recently, they aren't daz files and they aren't rigged at all.

After a little experimenting, it was achievable =) Thanks!
September 4, 2018 at 6:21 AM #744412@Twinis Yes, but, they're very high quality, hard not to download them haha!
September 4, 2018 at 5:09 PM #745230NP 🙂 But Twinis is correct. Most vehicles come with the same kind of issues and if you want to render them, especially if you start striving for photo-realism, sooner or later you will be dropping them into a modelling programme such as Blender and changing things. It is not a bad way to get to understand more about how models are created.
September 4, 2018 at 8:44 PM #745430One day for sure! Still an amateur at Daz Studio tho. Can you rig these models in blender?
September 4, 2018 at 9:16 PM #745458Well yes, you can do almost anything in Blender but rigging in one programme to use a model in another can be problematic.
When perusing for vehicle models, look out for FBX files. If the figure is rigged and exported to the FBX format, you can use that in both blender and daz studio ( there are a few exceptions )
In fact if you ever wanted to see how good the render engine in blender is, then I would always advise exporting your figure from Daz studio as an FBX file. Mats go across better, the rig is workable and the scale doesn't matter as much as if you are moving .obj files between Blender and DS. There are a couple of things you have to do when importing to Blender but that is for another time 🙂
September 5, 2018 at 10:00 AM #746247Ok thanks! I don't have blender. I'll check it out tho!
