I'm offering 10,000 points for someone to run a new art competition, and another 10,000 for the prize pool. It's been 2 months since the last one. I'm too busy [lazy] to do it myself. Any takers 🙂?
I think it is a shame we have to entice people with prizes to put there work in the gallery....
When there is a competition, I see great work passing by, but only then.
So I pass, sorry Frank.Not the gallery, the Art Comp.
So if you run the comp yourself the "great work" won't be passed over this time. In fact in the recent comps everyone got prizes.
That's not the point...
There has to be a reward in sight to actually interact so to say.
Put some things up recently ( Been busy to), but I try to keep the gallery " alive". But it is just a few members participating.
There must be more to the community then....." 500 points for Item X"I'd do it, but I have no idea what to do or how to do it. I find I cannot choose when the art goes up, I like it all! 🙂 Last year I tried to get one going for Halloween, but no one would help, by Christmas I was able to talk my dear friend enjoyify, who has since left us, to sponsor the Winter Wonders Contest and it was a great success. Everyone donated and we had a huge prize pool... and everyone voted on the winners.
We definitely need a contest going before Christmas!! So PLEASE someone volunteer to help!! I'll help in anyway I can...just ask. 🙂

NinianePS @Gaver... I understand what you mean, about no one posting without a contest, but that is what a contest is for... incentive to post their best work. People are busy with their lives, work, family... and sometimes it just takes a litte push to get them to post. I've never posted.. I'm slow and by the time I actually get something finished, contests are over. LOL but anyway... think about it, and post for the next contest, please. 🙂

@Niniane Normally I contribute to the prizepot when a contest is organised... Point is it would be nice if people just showed what they made without a contest. I got a lot of comments on my early postings, although critical, it was in good spirit, and I learned a lot because of that. It gave me a chance to get to " know" some people.
If that would happen more often, there would be more cohesion amongst the members, and we all can learn from each other.
But I might be just a grumpy old man 🙂While we are on the subject of Christmas... anyone interested in starting a Christmas Gift Donation Page like they did in what Hunter called "the old days" ? I, again, have no idea what to do or how to do it, but it would nice to have a page dedicated to giving gifted files for Christmas, but only have it up for a week or so... Any interest in this? Anyone know how to go about it? 🙂

@Gaver... it's okay to be a grump old man sometimes. 🙂 It's okay to be you! But I agree, I am beginning to miss the comraradie we shared when sharing files with each other... I'd write at least a thank you, and get a reply and start conversations and get to know people... now it's just request, and get the file when it's filled.
It would be nice, as you said, to have more people contribute to the forums and get to know each other better. Of course, I take into consideration a lot of people do have lives outside the Zone. 🙂
@Niniane LOl a live outside the zone, you mean tiktok or facebook? Sorry could not resist, I must confess I have a lot of spare time.
Maybey it is just a sign of the times, but I remember downing wit 2,5 kb, getting up in the middle of the night because the site where you found that one piece of software had a timelimit... There were no site like the zone back then, we had sites like demonoid. And we had chatboxes where we met people with similar interests. That is how I got a lot of software ( they would upload it for short time to FTP server).
One would expect the same kind of interaction to a dedicated site like the zone for we all make pics I thinkAbout Xmas Idea. Enlighten me, we all buy something from a vendor and post it as a freeby ?

1: try to PM @lapucelle, they organized the last few contests 🙂 Maybe you two can team up.
2: fix the subject, maybe ask for a few ideas on Discord, and choose one that you like.
3: decide the deadline...

5: prize pool, I think we can add a "Prize Pool" request to the new system so everyone can donate points there and I will transfer out the points to the winners after the contest (and if someone tries to "Fill" the request, then I can drink some blood :P)Just FYI @frank22

So just start a 🎄 Christmas Gift Donation (Share files - Only available in December) thread or something, but if you need help again, I can do it for you (but I think it's a bit too soon, Mariah Carey hasn't melted out yet :D)Mariah Carey's voice hurts my poor little ears. 😛

Deadline should be around Dec. 15... maybe start it early ... Mid November so everyone will have time to finish a render or two?? I never seem to finish in time. 🙁 And So we have enough time to finish off the contest, and have the winners ready for @Hunter to put on the Banner Page. OH YEA... last year it was for the Banner... the contest was. I'll speak with @Monkseye to see about this year. 🙂 In that case the Daz Renders should fit the banner.
So we are half way there! Anyone want to add their two cents... a contest name... anything?

Things that have been purchased in the past, or something you bought that wasn't actually requested? Christmas files, or anything really. I think it should only be up for one week though... we'll figure that out later. 🙂
The Xams idea is good. Much better than just giving away points like some of us did last Xmas.
In 'ye olden days of yore' [pre pandemic] the idea was to buy a new item [preferably] and send the link to someone [ I think @Monk was involved??? ] who would then add them all to a single DL link which would be released into the wild for a specific period [say Xmas day to New Years day].
There were some really huge DLs back then.
A great idea - but should not take away from the regular competitions... 🙂
Right, it would not take away from the competition at all. Just a little something extra for our community to enjoy. 🙂 I'll talk to @Monkseye tomorrow about it.. get his opinion on how things should be done, but that sounds great to me.
New items or older items or whatever anyone wants to share will be fine.
