This is a stupid and irrelevant question, but I can't stop myself from identifying people's personality with their avatars. I don't think it affects how I treat anyone, but the disturbing thing is that I'm not 100% sure. So, I was just wondering. Has anyone noticed a difference in how they are treated when they change their avatar?
December 26, 2021 at 8:18 PM #1761458Not a stupid question at all jon kin. I like to change mine quite often. I get bored with my computer background too and change that every few months. Your avatar is just a picture to me and I don't read anything into it.
December 26, 2021 at 10:08 PM #1761474I absolutely believe the avatar matters as it is the visual representation of a member. If it sends positive vibes, then... etc
There is an admin at DAZ3D that has an avatar with an angry old lady holding something looking like a wooden club, that is exactly how I see "her"!
December 26, 2021 at 10:33 PM #1761482"There is an admin at DAZ3D....." there was, shy died last month.
December 26, 2021 at 10:53 PM #1761486Wow @frank22, way to piss on the campfire. I guess she will be fondly remembered by some as an angry old lady with a stick. At least if I die today, my avatar will be accurate.
December 26, 2021 at 11:16 PM #1761491BTW my current pic is Saya from when 3D people started to get hyper-realistic a few years back.
December 26, 2021 at 11:17 PM #1761492"Frank, you gotta change yours." I agree, but for the opposite reason.
It makes me want to say things I don't want to say. However, I'm familiar with that avatar. Something about the girl who doesn't existDecember 26, 2021 at 11:20 PM #1761493"Frank, you gotta change yours. I keeps me from saying what I really want to tell you."
LOL what do you really want to tell me? I can change it back to Eddie if you want.
On a related note - about 15 years ago I used a 3D anime pic for my avatar for Rendo. A few days later I got a PM telling me not to use it... apparently from the person who made it. I suppose he thought others might think I was him due to the picture... fair enough, identity theft and all that, didn't argue. The pic was from an tiny obscure Japanese site, but these days you never know who's watching.December 27, 2021 at 5:19 AM #1761556Oops! Didn't know she has died... Anyway, her attitude was like her avatar....
December 27, 2021 at 5:47 AM #1761560Well that's not the truth. She was kind and liked and respectful, very Welsh and therefore didn't suffer fools, and as a result now has more than two and a half thousand on Daz commemorating her death. I'd be likely to only get one at my funeral, to piss on my headstone, which I utterly deserve BTW.... not that I'd know anyway since I would be dead.
December 27, 2021 at 6:32 AM #1761564I change avatars cause I sometimes get bored of my previous one and I wanted to change it up.
December 27, 2021 at 7:03 AM #1761567Ooh! Maybe it's the power of the avatar that made me interpret her in a certain way.
December 27, 2021 at 7:29 AM #1761573Totally agree @Thatramendude, that's what they're all about. Some read avatars into seeing the face of the child Jesus appearing in their bowl corn flakes, or their slice of burnt toast, a revelation into more deep and meaningful stuff. (I have rice and natto in the morning BTW.)
Jesus fucking wept, it's just a picture that someone likes and wants to adopt for a few weeks, it's not X-Files, or grassy knoll or moon landing stuff. Not everything has to mean something deep.December 27, 2021 at 7:34 AM #1761574@frank22
Yeah I think that's going a little deep. The question was more in reference to a subconscious level, and not so much a spiritual, meaning of life kinda thing.December 27, 2021 at 7:42 AM #1761577So when I'm shown a skull avatar I should think more about anatomy rather than death. Yeh, I can work with that. No problem for me.
