I want to use DIM to install my zips.
I thought it was a simple thing of putting a zip in the downloads folder.
With DIM, the freebie stuff that i get from the daz site will show up in the ready to download.
Then once downloaded it sits in the downloads folder and will show as ready to install.
But when i drop some other zips in that same folder, even if they have a proper IM number, they wont show up.
November 7, 2019 at 2:37 AM #1317268There are some reasons:
1) That package is installed already
2) Maybe the archive format is .rar ( it should be .zip)
3) Maybe there is a (space or Dot(.) or () or other characters in file name.
There are some reasons for when the package shows up but can't install for example if the archive is corrupted or has no Manifest file inside of itNovember 7, 2019 at 3:42 AM #1317313For packages to at least be listed (no guarantee they'll install, that depends on what is inside the zip-file), the following must be true:
They need to have an "ID" (IM for the DAZ files, but it can be anything, up to 5 characters, IIRC). Then it needs to have SKU, which is 8 digits (00012345) followed by the number in the list of packs (the -01, -02, -03) followed by an underscore, and then the name of the package you're installing, which can ONLY be characters and digits - no other character is allowed.
So, for a Renderosity asset, the following will be a proper name:
RO00124225-01_ItemFromRenderosity.zipThe following would be wrong:
RO0124225-01ItemFromRenderosityFor Genesis 3 Female.zipNovember 7, 2019 at 5:52 AM #1317414If you drop your zips into the Content Package Assistant program (in settings turn off the auto clean support directory if it is a DAZ file with that directory already populated) It will ensure everything is proper for use with DIM. You may have to populate things that are missing.
NOT sure if CPA is on here or not, If not, let me know and I will upload it. (I am pretty sure I have it in the DIM Format)
November 7, 2019 at 6:59 AM #1317459Inside the zip file should be "Manifest.dsx" and "Supplement.dsx" files. One of those isn't exactly necessary per se, can't remember which though.
If you're making your own zips with content from sites other than Daz, here's a tutorial on how to use Content Package Assist, (mentioned by ShadowHawk):
And CPA itself:
November 7, 2019 at 10:42 AM #1317640Supplement.dsx isn't necessary - it's only a way for DIM to fetch a title for the asset to display in DIM, and when installing it, that might differ from the actual name of the file (which will be used if it isn't there). Sometimes you might see an old asset (Genesis, V3, and so on) in DIM having a name like
ThisIsAnAsset DSinstead of justThis is an asset- that's because the supplement.dsx file is missing, and it's just pullig the name directly from the zip-name.November 7, 2019 at 9:27 PM #1318450Thanks everyone for the response.
Well its been a learning curve but atleast I have better understanding of the way dim works.
Now i seem to be on the right track after your help and more things are showing up.
Content already installed was part of a problem, thanks MJT.
The naming of some zips was also part of another issue, thanks Errilhl
SHadowHawk and Nobdy, i was not aware of such product so thanks for that info.
Most certainly if i run into any further problems then i will get that CPA for sure. -
