@LivingPixels I agree, but there are many professional users that use Daz.
Of course, not professional about 3D modeling etc., but about storytelling (videogames, comics, books etc.). They don't care about 3D modeling, and they're much better spending a few bucks on an already made asset than doing it all from the ground.
I think that kind of professional users makes a huge part of Daz income. There's a limit to what amateurs will spend.Daz Studio is going to implement Filament, an open-source real-time rendering engine.
Iray is developed by Nvidia. It doesn't bother me that we have to purchase Nvidia GPUs (at the end of the day, the quality/price ratio is very similar), but it would be cool if it could use system RAM better instead of VRAM, like Blender does.I don't understand why Poser isn't dead already. And the Renderosity purchase surprised me, but I'm not an expert, so they do what they think it's best for them.
If Daz company looks this good after so many years, it means that their model business is working, so, if anyone doesn't like them, he/she's free to use whatever other software!
May 22, 2020 at 6:14 AM #1603689Thank you for the info Kre@tionz!
May 21, 2020 at 3:40 PM #1603593Thanks for the video!
Well, if anyone tested it with pirated packages, let us know, just as a curiosity, if it works no problem! 🙂
And yes, I think nobody could ever prohibit you from having two different accounts for yourself. But they could get suspicious anyway.
May 21, 2020 at 12:04 PM #1603576@Elim I'm surprised by how many people don't use Smart Content! I do, so I definitely prefer to install packages the classic way. It's just too much easier for my workflow. So that I don't find any use in non-smart content products, I never download them, and if in the future they stopped smart-content products, I'd had to switch to buy everything I need 🙁
@Ethiopia Yeah, if we could export easily Daz stuff into Unreal Engine 5, it'd be a whole other story. We'll see what'll happen with Filament.@Kre@tionz Thank you! That'd be no reason in stopping offline installation, if they weren't going to check if you own that product! So that's what I wanted to hear.
I'll stick with DIM until it'll be available. If one day it won't be available anymore, I hope I'll be a billionaire, so that I won't have to worry about their absurd prices!
But, honestly, I think they could already check that. If you take a look at DIM log, it gives you an error when the product doesn't correspond to an order you've made with your account.
Maybe they just tolerate piracy for whatever reason.May 21, 2020 at 9:04 AM #1603526@Phoernik I won't switch until it'll be stable and I'll know for sure that I'll be able to continue using pirated packages! 🙂
@Legolas18 99,99% of my assets are from Daz Store! I didn't know it breaks DIM. One more reason not to switch then.
@AnjaBear It's basically a new DIM that just got out.
@Cage I understand that. I've actually bought many products, and I believe in supporting the developers. Sometimes I've even bought products I had already pirated because they were very good at the right price.
The problem is that often those assets are heavily overpriced, and you can only look at the store twice a year when massive sales happen. But that's all another speech.
@eelgoo I think it's perfectly normal for them to wanting us to pay for everything!
I was just wondering if they're forcing us in that direction. -
