http://images2.imagebam.com/10/f9/6e/ead5cc1117648054.jpgThis expression is so awful you have to wonder how a group of 4 people + however many testers and qa thought it was fine.
February 5, 2019 at 4:02 PM #949034And the torrents are...?
February 5, 2019 at 6:50 AM #948549dump the filenames to a text file (assuming everything is zipped), upload the textfile to pastebin so people can search it for stuff they might be interested in.
February 4, 2019 at 3:46 PM #947784Can't sell it since she didn't make the skin maps.
February 3, 2019 at 11:42 PM #946923This is now a Smithmicro bashing thread lol. I guess most people started off with poser and begrudgingly switched to Daz Studio when it was obvious Poser was not gonna support Genesis.
@feymarcher renderosity has been the "training ground" for people that can't get their stuff approved by Daz for a long time now, be it because the products themselves are subpar or because they can't get their renders up to snuff, if rendo went and kicked everyone that made DS exclusive content they would end up the same way as content paradise in no time, I highly doubt there's enough Poser holdouts out there to sustain an entire marketplace unless they become a much smaller operation ala hivewire 3D.
February 3, 2019 at 6:27 PM #946654Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
Smithmicro is not a very good company, Clip Studio is the most widely used drawing software in Japan, and despite the huge popularity of manga while SM had it, it was considered a joke by most people in the west (they never hired competent artists to do showcase artwork, instead had amateurish looking stuff to promote the software) and Moho had far more animation features than flash when they bought it and renamed it anime studio, then it got stuck in time, flash caught on in features while still being the king of web content at the time, and anime studio became another joke until nearly a decade later someone used it to make an award winning feature film so they chose to rename it Moho again and try to market it as affordable professional software, basically the same situation as with Poser and RWBY.
Given how renderosity is now the de facto official poser content marketplace since they shelved content paradise, and how La Femme is front page and with red text on the marketplace menu, plus the bundles with poser at a deep discount, I insist that at the very least the base figure was commissioned by Smithmicro themselves, at this point that's probably FAR cheaper than to try to catch up with 4 generations of genesis figures.
February 3, 2019 at 5:38 PM #946605Vendors have long deserted to Daz studio, there's a reason why they are at SKU 57k right now when it took them nearly a decade to get to sku 10k in the first place, they are releasing deluges of content every week because everyone is developing for them almost exclusively, and those numbers don't even count all the people on renderosity that develop only for DS either (and a lot of these look like they are on rosity just because they can't make the cut of Daz quality standards or violate trademarks).
Making stuff for Poser is the same as running a specialty store, just because Walmart makes magnitudes more money and has thousands more products, it's not a reason to ignore an underserved niche market.
As long as there's poser holdouts (and there's even carrara holdouts and that software is even more abandoned) there will be people trying to cash in one way or another, and brand new figures will pop up every now and then just like it has been going on since Genesis stopped being poser compatible and Smithmicro did nothing to try and fix it (haven't read genesis license, there might be something there preventing them from adding compatibility).
February 3, 2019 at 4:59 AM #945898Then just zip them up and upload them and let people take a look at what's there for themselves.
February 3, 2019 at 4:21 AM #945872There's nothing noble about it, it's just business. Whatever you make for poser, you are guaranteed a far longer spot in the limelight within the poser userbase than anything you could make for DS which would get buried within a couple weeks.
Given how front and center renderosity put la femme, I wouldn't be surprised if the figure was commissioned by Smithmicro themselves to try and boost sales (or at least upgrades to poser 11).
Their graphics software division must not be doing so hot, they lost the license for clipstudio paint and replaced it with one of many "real media" niche painting tools, and moho while doing better than it was when it was named anime studio it's still a niche tool that's stuck between adobe animate and toon boom with extremely limited learning resources.
February 3, 2019 at 4:09 AM #945863I just joined but one of the few things I have read around was people angry about a deluge of ancient stuff getting uploaded and clogging the site.
Let's be honest, I doubt there's many people interested in getting Aiko 3 stuff around.
If you find something that's really vanished and is still valuable/unique just upload it to the blog.
February 1, 2019 at 8:50 PM #944088Zoom on the image and you can see aliased pixels around the hair and only the hair, and the sharp edges makes it look like this hair is a 2D resource. Even the highlights look like lazy airbrush strokes and don't really match the light source the figure is being hit by.
February 1, 2019 at 8:45 PM #944083I doubt there's anything DAZ can do legally to prevent anyone from making a figure compatible with their stuff, just like Adobe can't do anything to prevent every graphics software under the sun to open .psds
I have never read their license agreement, but every product must be filed with "you can only use this product with official Daz figures" but I highly doubt that would be enforceable, if it was that easy Adobe would have shut down everyone from opening psds ages ago, just like Microsoft tried to block other software from opening word files back in the 90s.
I highly doubt Poser is gaining any new users ($400 barrier of entry to have dev tools, $200 for crappy renders) when Daz Studio is free and does everything it does, has a better built in render engine and that's not even counting the Genesis figures.
New figures for poser are likely just a cash in into the underserviced poser userbase that do not want to move over to DS4, which while much smaller than the DS userbase it receives so little content that anything you do for it is guaranteed far more attention from it than anything you could to for DS which releases a new figure pro bundle every two weeks. If developing content for Poser didn't have a $400 admission I could see people deving content for it while sharpening their skills.
January 28, 2019 at 1:34 PM #938441Tried using an 8K map and got a BSOD, Daz crashed the Nvidia driver and that crashed Windows lol
