I'm not sure either. Might have looked at the wrong post. My response was meant to be a general idea anyway rather than calling someone out. Sorry

June 5, 2023 at 10:28 PM #1980881Buying items just to fill requests?
I buy items because I want and need them and these days, I don't need much. I have characters spilling out of the cooling slots in my hard drives and no one makes the clothes I want anymore. All I buy is the few bits of architecture that I like. I bought the White Palace after seeing it here because it's exactly the kind of tacky thing I love. Many of the points discussed here keep coming up with strong support but the mods don't implement them. Maybe we should go on strike?
June 5, 2023 at 10:42 PM #1980883I think the last new things I bought were some Rendo assets. Lately, I've been reposting dead items that I've got on my HDD, because, IMO, there's something so frustrating when you find the perfect item, only to find it's a dead post. 🙂
June 5, 2023 at 11:35 PM #1980884Everything that is done or not done pleases or upsets somebody.
The rules are not immutable, but have to reflect some form of compromise in an attempt to please the majority.
June 5, 2023 at 11:50 PM #1980885@eelgoo, I'm sure the majority will be thrilled when the fillers walk away. I think I've done my last fill here for a while.
June 6, 2023 at 12:32 AM #1980890As others do - I buy items for what I need (or might use at some stage). At the moment I ain't filling any requests (as I reduce how much I spend and some other reasons). Did have over 200 items to install first.
I agree it is annoying when someone posts something that you have filled and someone posts it to the blog.
June 6, 2023 at 3:48 AM #1980916@Queensknight -"When I see someone bumping posts....". The site etiquette is you don't bump unless you're increasing your offer. I quite like the fact that rank and points total does not grant any greater rights than anyone else here. And also note that those who freely give away their points by sponsoring art competitions are usually those who don't have many.
June 6, 2023 at 5:12 AM #1980926When was the last official contest?
June 18, 2018 was one of the last updates to the Hall of Fame.
I remember the days when you pulled up to a gas station and people came out to fill up your tank and wash your window. Now you're required to ring up your own groceries.
Is the site on autopilot?
The most important part of a business is the customer, doesn't matter how great your employees are if you don't have customers you don't stay in business. If you don't have people uploading content then you don't have much of a share site. I think it would be nice to treat people that participate more at least a little better. Not asking to treat leaches like lepers but some form of appreciation wouldn't harm anyone.
June 6, 2023 at 5:13 AM #1980927@bavor, thanks for pointing that out, I suggested ad networks a few months ago, but now I've given up on the idea. Wonder what I will come up with next.
June 6, 2023 at 5:40 AM #1980935@D0gg0d - "When was the last official contest?. It was the one you contributed to a few weeks ago. I'd say we were all leachers when we first came here. Your own "points for sale" record isn't particularly spectacular mate.... no offence.... neither is mine 😛.
June 6, 2023 at 5:47 AM #1980938none taken.
I wasnt aware the contest was sponsored by the site. I thought it was sponsored by the members.
Totally aware of my place in the donation food chain. Not happy with my choice but something I felt I needed to do.
June 6, 2023 at 5:54 AM #1980941Haven't been here long enough to see site-sponsored contests. Member-sponsored ones might actually be better for promoting collegiality.
June 6, 2023 at 11:25 AM #1981170@ethiopia, from what I've seen, hunter is the decider. I don't think we can blame/credit mods for how the site is run (although we have great mods here).
Since @queensknight is doing some coding here, maybe the ability to automate the 'Coming Soon' function so that the filler can put in a date and set up the blog post and the system can auto publish to the blog on that date. The date could be a range from 1 day to 30 days. This would allow request fillers to determine how long they want to wait (up to a month) before posting to the blog and also keep aholes from getting requests filled and then turning around and posting to the blog when the filler decides to wait a while.
June 6, 2023 at 1:55 PM #1981217We had both. Usually every holiday was a site contest. Occasionally a contest to change to splash page. Then personally ran contests. Participation varied but seemed to be more then, it started dropping off. I ran a few and donated occasionally. I had way more points then. I left for a bit and dumped my points. Old friends gave me some when I came back.
Maybe its just me but I felt more people were involved in the community then but it could be I'm just out of touch. Things we're posted before people got points. Over years I recall 2 issues with 2 people not paying points. So it was a non-issue from my perspective. Mods could have seen more of it than I did but posting slackers in the forum was a way to get them blacklisted.
Most of this mess with holding content started relatively recently. I can't recall once having issues with my bounties. Reposting content was still an issue though. When a few members started the movement of exclusive backdoor trades and holding content I quit posting and deleted my links. It's not as bad or as blatant as it was when I stopped posting. I think a couple people took notice of what was going on but the damage was done. Pretty sure site contest were gone by then.
Talking to a few others I came in at the end of the golden age. Just in time to see it die.
