    @3danimenut you prob already do this for oc but MSI Afterburner with a custom fan profile will run the GPU fan higher all the time, can be loud but it has kept renders on the GPU which would go to CPU before because the GPU hit its temp limit when the fan was running at stock low speeds

    I'm using Afterburner now with the new GTX 980, thing sounds like a jetliner set for take off when i really kick the fan into overdrive, 980 is also 2.5 times more powerful in terms of CUDA cores & Gigs from the 760....lol

    with the old 760 I was just running Nvidia's GPU and fan controls pack, it worked fine, until i really started overclocking the GPU way beyond what it could take.

    My rig

    Intel i7 4770K @ 4.3Ghz cooled with a Corsair H105
    32 Gb DDR3 RAM @ 1600 Mhz
    A couple Intel SSD, a couple WD of HDD
    EVGA 1080TI FTW3 11 Gb

    The 1080TI is a beast

    My main PC system is pretty old, but enough for small scenes

    This is what I have for running DAZ Studio 4.10.0.107

    Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EX38-DQ6
    Memory 8 gbs
    CPU Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9650
    overclocked CPU fb 417.0 MHz (original: 333 MHz, overclock: 25%)

    Graphic card NVIDIA ZOTAC GTX 670 4GB
    Driver 388.31
    OpenGL renderer: GeForce GTX 670/PCIe/SSE2
    Multi Processor Count: 7

    I currently have 3 systems.

    An Acer Z1-621G Touch Screen with an 1.83ghz Intel Celeron B2940 dual threading Dual Core with Turbo Boost and Intel HD Graphics with 4GB's of ram running Windows 8.1.
    (CPU is seen has and acts like a Quad.)

    An Acer V3-731 laptop which I have upgraded to an 2.7ghz i7-2620M dual threading Dual Core with Turbo Boost and Intel HD3000 graphics with 8GB's of Ram running Windows 7.
    (CPU is seen has and acts like a Quad.)
    This CPU has the same power and termal specs has the original B960 that was in it. I want to upgrade it to a full 16GB's. It's sits on a fan powered cool pad AND has an fan over the CPU port to help suck out the air. For the most part it stays fairly cool.

    And my newest addition which I am still setting up.
    An Dell XPS L702X laptop with an 2.2ghz i7-2670QM dual threading Quad core with Turbo Boost and HD3000 Graphics with 6GB's of ram running Windows 7. It also has a nVidia GeForce GT 550M with a I think 1GB of RAM all to itself.
    (CPU is seen has and acts like a 8 Core.)
    I want to upgrade it to 16GB's. It sits on a cool pad and I will be getting another CPU vent fan for it has well.

    I also have a nVidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti with 4GB's of ram which I was going to hook up to the V3 via an external PCI slot but I think I may instead hook it up to the Dell.

    I am running DAZ Studio v4.8 and all of my runtimes reside on a networked drive.

    @Starryeyes, Laptops all over the gaff! <:D

    @Tagore
    , if it works, it works!

    @irsnout
    , 1080ti is definitely a beast and I'm a little jealous but I just couldn't justify dropping that much on a graphics card. Especially because I'm broke. 😛 How does rendering leverage your ram? Does it utilise it all on renders or does it just stick with a fraction?

    @evilmonkey I don't think anyone can justify spending than much on a graphics card unless you can make money out of it. I'm not. For the moment at least.

    VRAM usage depends a lot on the scene, as you certainly already know. But it uses a good chunk of it. It usually sits around 7-8 GB while rendering and goes up to 10 GB on occasions. So far I didn't run into a situation where I needed more VRAM but of course it will eventually happen. Just a matter of time... At least I don't have to worry about it too much, as it was the case with the 980TI before.
