While it may not outright kill art or daz it's going to take a huge slice of the cake. Personally I believe in the words of Billy Crystal,

I'll bet my next pension cheque that this is more AI generated slop...

Just symptomatic of the general decline in care & quality.

I follow Sade's Discord server 3D Shards and there was a fun series of posts where she took Daz to task over an obviously AI generated set of robots. The post stayed up for several hours because, I guess, Haseltine was asleep.
This is going to burn Daz at some point since they can only control their own forum.

Quality has been slowly dropping off for the last 2 years, overall the standard of releases have taken a real nose dive within the last 6 to 12 months.

Yes, I think it started shortly after the release of G9!

That is another reason for my extreme dislike of G9 in general. 🙁

Though to be fair I think AI is playing its part in that.

“HURRY! USE THIS COUPON! It’s ONLY worth it if you buy 1, 2, or 3 of the absolute garbage we released today.”

You know, the most boring products imaginable plus Vo and Pendragon somehow managing to release the same characters twice in the same month.

And this one was so funny:
A pose pack priced at $19 the bundle also priced at $19.
Even the person setting the prices clearly had no idea what was going on.

Then there are the morph packs. You download the promos, slide them, and it barely changes anything from the previous pack. Same base, same result, new product number.

At this point, just buy one body morph pack, save presets as single morphs, and you now have infinite store products. If you know how to reuse morphs and save poses, you’re basically a PA already.

I’m seeing more and more annoyed users on other forums. Either people are finally waking up, or DAZ just stopped bothering to delete the comments.

Once sales start to really tank, they’ll abandon the project entirely. They won’t waste resources making incredible products again.

The cow is drying up and instead of feeding her, they just keep demanding milk. Milk. Milk.

@otero33, I feel that the saviour of us and the hobby will be the private site and the semi-hobbyist creator. People who do it because they love being creative AND make a few bucks on the side. It's what the Poserverse was when it started. There where a couple of vendor markets but we also enjoyed more than a dozen creators with their own small sites. There's never been as varied or enthusiastic marketplace. I'm hoping we get back to that.

And as much as I decry AI, as it gets better it'll allow the small creator with a vision and unique ideas to flesh out their fantasies. What we need to do is help these beginners see how they can improve the AI generated mesh so that it's usable.

In the early days it was akin to the game modding community.

They did it because they enjoyed the challenge of doing it & were not looking at it as a source of income.

It wasn't long before they moved away from that though.

Mind you, the game modding community probably wouldn't be able to sell their efforts anyway, due to copyrights.

I happened to see a commercial today for 'Particle for Men', consisting of a man and a woman sitting in an empty bar/restaurant. She says he looks different and then she tries to guess why. With her every guess (hair? clothes? etc.) his appearance changes to include different hair, clothing, and so forth. It was actually funny and clever. And THAT made me suspicious. I couldn't find any proof to confirm it, but I swear it was AI generated. I tried to discover the actors in it and oddly I couldn't. That was the 'tell'. No human actor resists exposure. It's their lifeblood.

    @3demon,

    No human actor resists exposure

Actors and models may get exposure but what they don't get is their names advertised. The directors and photographers get loads of credit but the folks on screen?....nada. There's a site called Bellazon, it's a fan site for models and you wouldn't believe the people in famous ads from print and TV who are never ID'd except through the work of fans. Go through a magazine or clothing site and look for the model's names.

@supreme-leech Perhaps you misunderstand. I'm not speaking of the lack of identification in the commercial itself. Or even on the product's website. For my needs, it doesn't matter who identifies the actor. Your reference to fan sites, such as Bellazon, proves my point. Identification is identification.

Actors live by promoting themselves. It tends to be their nature. AI actors can't do that. They have no agency. And the only images of the AI actor one would likely find are from the source material, because he/she doesn't exist outside of the advertising agency's promotional materials.

I just watched the commercial again, and I am more convinced than ever. Regardless of AI, it really is well-done commercial. I suspect we'll be seeing many, many more.

Quality has declined because so have vendors' revenues. Now we have more products, but of lower quality. If you give me little, I'll give you little; it's very simple. Hoping someone will make good products out of passion is pure utopia; this work takes time, especially if you want to make good things, and without revenue, it's not possible. No one likes or can afford to work for free.

Just found this from two days ago. It's a famous PA's facebook page. He says sales are not going well for him so he is going to release smaller content faster.
