How hard is it to go through the new posts every day or two?

And yes, I would love a free bike regardless of what parts are missing. I got one two years ago (a Trek) and replaced the chain, crankset and rear cassette since these items wear. Chains in particular only last a few thousand Km even with regular waxing. Tires, brake pads and the occasional rim are also expendable. I just blew $200 on a new headset from Cane Creek for my Specialized Allez. Bike stuff is pricey so I definitely appreciate free bikes.

I had 2 like new bikes I purchased for the wife and me to go out every so often. After sitting for 3 years with 0 miles I sold them for half what I had in them. Really depends on how useful you find what you're given. My 2 yr old is a book destruction machine. Picking up .50 cent books at Goodwill is a bargain. The old saying "One man's trash" ect...

That's how I've amassed my families bike collection. The best ones (carbon fiber or aluminium) I keep. There's a local auction that gets a pile of bikes recovered by the police every few months and they go for next to nothing. I have two +1K$ bikes I got for under 100 bucks. It's so simple to copy a bike's serial number but no one ever does.
