So... I believe that the implementation of a selection filter is in order. One should be able to filter out the application and the model one isn't interested in, or the browsing will quickly become cluttered and chaotic.
May 5, 2023 at 11:17 PM #1966637I was thinking along the same lines when going through all of the reallusion additions. For those who use those applications this is a great shares, but if I can't use them in DAZ, which I really wish I could?, then it just gets my hopes up for something I can't use. I'd rather be able to filter out those shares which don't apply to DAZ in particular, or be able to say... filter to look just for Gen 9, or Gen 8 Male or female, characters, clothing or poses, etc.
I have no idea how difficult coding these kinds of filters to the blog would be though. That is something one would have to discuss with Hunter. As I understand it, WordPress doesn't make it easy to implement such changes.
May 6, 2023 at 12:34 AM #1966645Plus it falls onto those who upload the items to make sure they have proper tags then, which in my case I'm guilty of omitting in my uploads as there isn't a category sort to make use of them that I saw.
May 6, 2023 at 1:03 AM #1966653Some of the other piracy sites (including the one I used before I found ZGFX) have filtering by software/generation/asset type; I feel like the limited tagging and categorization we have here (plus people not using the "non-daz/poser model" tag for iclone/blender stuff) means it's harder to browse.
I wonder how difficult/time consuming it'd be to implement a better filtering or if there's just too much inertia to change that here (as someone(s) would have to go through the back catalog as well as new stuff that gets posted).
May 6, 2023 at 1:25 AM #1966659.. maybe something like this.. but again, its not much use unless we have the correct tags and the correct category selected in the post.. I can see some posts categorized as "Animals" 😀

There is a way to filter by category.. you can use this URL to see what is available in a specific category.. but right now there is no way to exclude a category..
https://zonegfx.com/category/people/
https://zonegfx.com/category/hair/
https://zonegfx.com/category/clothing-accessories/You just need to give the correct category name.. (and the poster should select the correct category.. 😀 )
.. and you can also filter by tag..
https://zonegfx.com/tag/genesis-8-female/
https://zonegfx.com/tag/genesis-9/
https://zonegfx.com/tag/character-creator/ (This filters the Reallusion ones.. but not all)May 6, 2023 at 5:07 AM #1966713I'm beginning to see just how important the "tag"s are...
I knew about the All Post filters... I was just in a wishing stage to find JUST G9 and G8 and G8.1 Male stuff. 🙂 So little is available for the male characters that you have to sort through a zillion and one female products to find one good male one. Ah, I'll live with things the way they are, because I enjoy it. Even the sorting through the zillion and one things! Because I love the people here, their willingness to help, willingness to share, and even their willingness to listen to silly wishes like mine. 😀
Have a great weekend everyone. Happy rendering!
May 6, 2023 at 9:32 AM #1966866It would be very useful if it were possible to implement Mandatory fields within the post submission.
Only for those that are absolutely essential and relevant to the product - so that it could not be submitted unless they were filled in [and if later reported to contain rubbish info, just to get posted, then remove the item and points received.May 6, 2023 at 10:03 AM #1966911Topic has been brought up multiple times over multiple years. Easily implemented by someone with the knowledge to make different upload sections. They either don't care or can't program it.
May 6, 2023 at 2:45 PM #1967016Just select "hair" in the menu, see what you get... A chaotic mix of models, generations, applications - no order, no sense.
Searching is already a messy experience and the menu choiches are a nightmare.
Searching by tag is not implemented. The top menu doesn't have submenus.Oh, wait... Did someone mentioned a SUBMENU?
May 6, 2023 at 3:04 PM #1967018It is easy to say what is missing, or needs to improve. Do not forget the Zone is run by voluntaries, that have a life next to the zone to.
IF you need something, you can always open a page extra with DAZ or Rendo on it, search there and copy paste name and look here.
I do get what you say, but it is a lot of effort to manage a site like this.
So give the admins some slack, and put in a bit more effort. Or make a generous donation so your requests can be filled 😀May 6, 2023 at 3:30 PM #1967025I think asking for multiple sections for G3M Hair, G8F Hair, G9 Hair ect is a to much to ask.
I don't believe asking for a section for Photoshop, RealIllusion, Poser, Daz3d is asking to much from people that run the site and, in some cases, have been here years. Sections like Hair, Clothes would even be nice but seeing people upload 1000 PS brushes separately or 300 RI items gets a bit old if you don't use them.
I've never moderated so I've no idea what's involved. I can say that approved post are posted with nude thumbnails, broken links, double posts, etc.. and are taken down after people complain not before. So that time doesn't appear to be dedicated to verifying posts. They also use to sponsor contests every holiday and haven't in a while. So other than making sure the site functions Im not aware of what's involved. If you have more knowledge of how difficult it is to run this site I would enjoy learning and getting a different perspective of my current view and opinion.

WELL SAID.
If members do not use/add the correct Categories and/or Tags then nothing is going to work.
Have a look in the "Animals" Category, "Animals" is the default "Post Category" and alot of people can't be arsed changing it.
I was doing Blog Post moderation for about 6 months, the amount of work involved in it is overwhelming. I have no idea how @monkseye copes with it.
BTW, The Blog Post moderators do not PUBLISH posts on the blog, They only modify the posts AFTER they have been PUBLISHED on the blog.May 6, 2023 at 5:34 PM #1967069Easiest fix I can think of is to change the add post form to have no default category, and have 2 "required" fields, one for "what category is this in?" and "what software is this for?"
If people *have* to put in their category/software and can't leave it blank or revert to default, I think that clears up the mess for anything new that gets posted. Then it's just a matter of going through the back catalog and ensuring content is properly tagged (which I know is a lot of work but tbh that's the kind of busy work I enjoy doing and it can be a longer-term project).
May 6, 2023 at 6:35 PM #1967086IDea is ok, but if you are talking about blank fields, that will not work. Misspellings, typo, or just naming something different make it hard to program. Hence the dropdown lists . Then you are back to square one, if someone is lazy and always takes the first item on a list.
As said before, if we all use the proper options we already have, things do not get all that messy.
As Sonytony said, check the animal category, and you will find lots of stuff that is not animal related....
We gotta keep the house clean oureselfs.....Mum and dad gave up 🙂 -
