@3demon I understand that; @eelgoo said it better than I did, it's not about the for sale part - I believe firmly in the right to sell things that are fundamentally as presented in terms of utility and all risks are tested and stated clearly so people are informed, an AI generated 3D figure is still a full fledged 3D figure that functions more or less the same in the software! It's about presentation, marketing, and the the obfuscation of how things are created. When it comes to craft goods, even digital ones, how they're built does matter imo and factors into my consideration of worth.
@ethiopia I don't haunt the Daz forums enough; how do the PAs there feel about Daz's hard turn into selling 3D assets for AI training? Actually I should probs do my own research as to if they get to opt out of being part of the dataOctober 2, 2026 at 12:22 PM #2190337Well said 3demon
October 2, 2026 at 12:49 PM #2190340In my opinion the problem isn't “this PA used AI”, but the “you'll never know whether we're genuinely struggling to detect AI during QA” part, or whether “we are turning a blind eye to blatant weird looking / AI products because we can and we don't want to lose sales”.
Then you have a $39.99 bundle full of undisclosed slop sitting there before discounts, shattering any customer trust left. They keep saying “we don't allow AI at all”, while you can find products from 2025 and 2026 with sloppy 3D meshes, textures that look like they've been through ChatGPT or Gemini, fully Chat GPT written descriptions and promo images that have been clearly AI edited. The main issue is the lack of transparency and the fact that customers are being told one thing while apparently getting something else.
Are we really supposed to believe that a PA selling 400 AI products on RenderHub is using a completely different workflow just for their “AI-free” store? I can see this going one of two ways anyway. They'll keep denying everything and saying nothing, like they always do when something becomes uncomfortable, or eventaully they'll pretend to listen and add some kind of tag system. I don't think they'll add one as they don't seem particularly interested in enforcing their own No AI rule as it is, and a tagging system would just mean more work on top of that.
And then... you look at what keeps getting released every day and it's the same stuff over and over anyway."Sales got worse people don't buy" but all I see is less quality for more money, PAs literally releasing the same cookie cutter characters, underage girls every couple of days, cheap clothing, environments that are basically asset flips, AI generated props, endless poses packs... while customers still aren't told which products were actually made with traditional tools or used IA. They won't tell you that either.
Meanwhile some of the products people actually look forward to, like the true DO characters, are getting less frequent and more generic, especially the female ones, and then there's all the petty stuff that starts happening around this whole issue as well.
I don't care if someone uses AI. If that's what they're doing, just say so and apply the same rules to everyone. What I don't understand is having a “No AI” policy while apparently doing very little to enforce it.
It's like a shop advertising itself as “HANDMADE FURNITURE”, then selling cheap IKEA furniture as expensive handmade pieces because they don't want to lose the sale or admit they've been lying to customers. You might not care that it's IKEA, but you should at least know that's what you're paying for.
