I think that has suffered somewhat with the new changes but number one IMO. Not a fan of the expiring points idea either.

So, its been a few weeks now since these changes. The million dollar question is: Did these changes actually make any kind of difference? If everything is still the same, (the shares are still being passed around, etc..), then changes really didnt have the desired effect, might as well switch it back and put an end to it. Or did these changes actually help? If they did, then keep them as they are now (points for logins turned off)

This whole discussion is obsolete not only because you can no longer argue in this medium without discrediting someone as reprehensible in any way, where once arguments used to be decisive. What really strips the number of its meaning is the fact that the real issue is being ignored. The controversial measure is actually not suitable for solving the alleged problem. Rather, it is ideal to vent anger and make as many people as possible suffer by cycling the hammer.
This also suggests that all is not about a countable number of content providers who use the earned points to enhance their platform's offering, but rather to counter the unnatural allocation of funds or goods for which no return has been given. This is also those trolls turn to, for whom everyone is a parasite who would like to continue receiving the benefits promised the time he joined.

Although a wide range of solutions to the problem placed in the foreground would have been so much more obvious and discreet, the chosen way has been to drag the now split community into this trench war and make everyone feel what it's like not to get what is desired -- divide and rule. This way made also sure that remaining foster children are taken care of. Minor popular downloads, reposts, unsolicited software, offers from the moth box and much more is suitable to illustrate a seemingly attractive portfolio for which nothing more needs to be done. Just get the users to provide it voluntarily for points currency withheld on the other side. Besides the fact it got harder to find anything useful among all the rubbish.
In this context, it should also be noted that nothing recognizable has been announced or realized on this front from the official side. The status quo is satisfactory as long as everyone is behaving in conformity. What, if that isn't any longer?

Running out of points? Nasty, isn't it? So do something about it! Saving is a tried and tested method to outlast.
Do you have points in requests that will never be fulfilled? Get the fook out of there!
Do you really have to afford every nonsense? Be more selective!
Do you really want to buy points for currency to get stolen goods copied without loss and effort? Think twice about it!
Do you want to keep supporting someone who tells out of the blue: ‘You're not getting this any more because I don't like what it is used for’? Look in the neighbourhood!
It benefits from the self weakening of a co-provider anyway, even though he contributed significantly to the overall offering. There will always be a way to get.

This may all sound counterproductive. But we went far beyond productivity anyway, didn't we?

Of course you can unless your skills with cogent augment and reasoned discourse are seriously lacking. With the hot-heads and doom-sayers put aside, I've seen some good suggestions put forward and discussed. Isn't this the very point of this thread? Overthinking a situation and making wild assumptions.... tip...if you can't your put point across in a couple of short sentences your just chewing gum mate.

Makes you wonder indeed. I can not see who requested it any more, but at a "sale" of 4000 points divided by 500, there could not have been more than 9 requesters

I don't mind sharing things, but people could at least use there own bloody host.

No, it is not. It started with an attempt to justify a disproportionate measure. There is nothing to gloss over.

I have a minimal participation on the site. The fact that I am not an English speaker and that I use a translator to write these lines. You understand that navigating the site for me and all non-English speakers is problematic due to translation done by Google or other translator in word choices
For the points? Personal this is your site! I thought it was cool. But not having more at each connection will not prevent me from visiting you. If I don’t have the points to invest, no worries, there are other sites around the world.

My retort addressed that and didn't deny your right to opinion, just that nobody wants to read a book for what can be said in some concise sentences, without a bunch of rhetorical questions and irrelevant analogies. Saying less is more in most cases, in fact almost all of them.

@ajrf, In fact, I buy and share here, that's why I said that, because the amount I spend per month is equivalent to an amount between €10 and €30.
But afterwards, as said, I found the idea good but I didn't say that it had to be applied.
I am also trying, like everyone else, to find a viable and honorable solution for everyone.

Economies of scale, people. If buying and sharing one thing for $20 gets you access to 100 things that cost each sharer $20/each, you just got $2000 worth of assets for $20. True leechers don't understand this basic concept. They want the $2000 worth of assets for free. Worse, they attack those who call them out for it. We're all leechers to some degree, but the true leech is someone who contributes nothing, takes everything, and complains about it in the process.
