I see. It really is a complex problem; and solving it is hard, specially if you have to find a solution which can be implemented by a workforce way smaller than what I implicitly assumed last time I made a proposal. If leveling items would be also useless that means there are infiltrated high level accounts, so I reckon that going private would not solve the issue either. This is not simply a problem about weeding bots out, but literally mole hunting; intelligent agents capable of finding loopholes in any algorithmical solution and with enough resources (points) to do so.
I have something in mind but, before irking anyone with another wall of text I have a technical question: obviously there is a log with everyone's purchases but is there, or is it possible to build, a log with everyone's clicks on a download link, regardless of whether it is a new purchase or a redownload of an already purchased one?
EDIT: forget my question. I've found a loophole in my idea. I'll have to think harder about it.
November 7, 2024 at 5:59 AM #2100947Hmmmm .... Why punish everybody with the point removal.
Those 'parasites' probably have more points than some of us.
It is quiet pointless to remove free points.
Best site anyway !
November 7, 2024 at 8:29 AM #2100973Ive said multiple times rank should have a benefit. Being able to get an item a week early vs 3 would be a nice bonus for people that share often. Little things like that IMHO incentivize people to participate more. You can literally fill one requested item and be set for months unless they expire. But if they expire you've gave me a reason not to give a F### about getting a lot of points.
Why fill a 50K request if 3/4 of those points will rot?I rarely render anything anymore. Most content is repetitive. Daz is changing apparently. Now I skip stuff I might not use even though its free. Whatever you decide is going to have to be fine. its not my site and Im pretty much argued out about certain things. My suggestions are to improve the site for everyone including me.

November 7, 2024 at 8:53 AM #2100974Hello again, I’ve been reflecting a little more about this. I was browsing the site and found a small HTML error on a post which let you see two decryption keys (I’m sorry, I’m dumb and moved on, so I don’t remember which post was it but it is recent) and that gave me an idea. So, while I don’t know the technical details, I guess there are a few basic fundamentals on how this site must work:
-Every post, as every user, must have some kind of identifier, a string or a number.
-Each download link is associated to its post, and that link has one -or several, as it seems- decryption keys. So, we have a “chain” of linked data (post-->download link-->decryption keys). Maybe it is not the link but the post who is associated to the keys; I don’t remeber it properly, but I think I have sometimes revisited a purchased item which had its link updated. I’m not sure about this.
-When we browse a new post, we see the green download button and when we purchase it we obtain those keys and can see the link decrypted. From now on, whenever we revisit that post we will find the download link already decrypted. So I guess somehow the user, the post, the link and the decryption keys are now connected.
Before boring you to death with any new ideas ¿Am I right so far?
November 7, 2024 at 10:13 AM #2100984You guys have done an exceptional job at recreating capitalism. And cultivated a strong elitist community. Why should you share the item you bought with your hard earned money with someone who you decided don't deserve it? Well, why do you share it in the first place? You're not getting anything out of it. These points mean nothing. They're numbers in a database.
You get upset that the item you bought gets shared on other sites? You are taking real money away from the artist that created that asset, and you get upset that the thing you're sharing with others for free, is being shared with more people and you're not getting your imaginary points for it? Do you have any idea how that comes across? You're behaving like the thing you bought belongs to you and you get to do with it what you want. No. It doesn't work like that.
Do you think everything shared here doesn't come from somewhere else? All the hordes of Iclone, UE5, and Blender content comes from people who bought the content? They're not just simply reposting it to try and get points? Everyone shares things from other sites.
If people want more points, they should spend $5 to $10 a month to fill a request. Then why don't the person making the request just spend the $5/10 to buy the asset themself? We're all here because we don't want to spend money to buy assets, and your solution is to buy assets to get imaginary points, to have the privilege of being able to download other content?
This site is going to get flooded with garbage posts of people trying to get a little bit points so they can continue downloading more stuff.
The pirate world is comprised of "leeches" and a few very generous people willing to share the content they bought. You don't get to decide who has access to the thing you're making available for free. If you don't want people to share it, then don't share it yourself. With all that said, here's my suggestion for a change. Making the site subscription based. You pay $5 or $10 monthly subscription. The admins use that money to pay the servers and what's left, they buy assets and share them here. That way you know your money is still going to the site and sharing content. Individual people can still also buy content and share them, but there's no point system. Remove the point system entirely. Then the elitists also know the people having access to their pirated content paid toward the site and sharing more content.
November 7, 2024 at 11:06 AM #2100990I think I liked it better when we could see a persons full history , what they are/were doing here you could tell if ppl had multiple accounts.
FYI - just because I'm nosey - lol
November 7, 2024 at 11:26 AM #2100992I would like to see the minimum point limit of a post go to 0 or 1 point for non DAZ assets. I only post iClone conversions. This is because there is a shortage of iclone assets. By creating a post I can see if they are downloaded and that I am creating the right asset. I don't need any points at all. If I just share the link, you usually don't get a response.
November 7, 2024 at 11:51 AM #2100999Aren't these iClone and Blender assets available in several other sites?

🙂November 7, 2024 at 2:37 PM #2101029Even with just the moderating seeing that info, it would still be good. If they spot someone behaving oddly, they can either take the hammer to them or take the civilized conversational approach. I, for one thing, think that most farmers would automate their procedure for the sake of ergonomy. A dozen or more accounts created in a row should incite scrutiny and if there is any tool that can allow the mods to get a warning about this, I say go for it.
The way things are going, only the "already made" members will survive in the long term. Like it or not, the daily points system is in a large part responsible for the site's popularity. And at the risk of having stones thrown at me, most of the people I've seen applauding the new choices are above level 1 and often much higher than that already. It's easy to tell people to swim harder when you're chilling on your boat. Even if it is a well-earned boat.November 7, 2024 at 3:24 PM #2101042@keab
I think I have sometimes revisited a purchased item
You can revisit the item for up to 30 days, and still be able to DL it
[Unless that is to be altered as well??].From now on, whenever we revisit that post we will find the download link already decrypted
After the 30 days you would have to 'buy it again' - which would give you fresh access to the link. The only other way to get updates is if the OP sends you the link after updating.
I did this with a request a while ago as DS made a hash of some of the included bundle files - so each time they notified me of any changes I altered the content that the link referred to and just sent them out to the list of requesters [ mainly because the errors lasted well over 30 days and I did not need the extra point from making them pay again - also added a few DS freebies that they gave by way of an apology].November 7, 2024 at 3:43 PM #2101047Hmmm, these changes can improve things or unfortunately damage things. Preventing people from sharing with other sites won't stop. I mean we wouldn't be here now if people weren't taking this stuff from Daz3D, Epic Games, Renderosity and sharing it. I only really donate through PayPal for points and download content. Mostly just a quiet user. Expiration of points would drive me nuts to the point I would just abandon ship. I don't agree with the removal of daily points, but understand it's a curtesy. Those daily points set you apart from 3D-Stuff which instead of free daily points, offers free downloads on some new arrivals. It's also really nice having that daily 100 when y'all's services are down and I want some items. I believe what you got now is good. Trying to combat pirates is just going to stress your honest users. I mean look at EA Games back in the 00s with PC cd keys. My opinion on this.
November 7, 2024 at 3:44 PM #2101048The idea of paying 5, 10, or 15 $ or € (I'm French) per month seems to me to be part of the solution.
