I guess this is a protective action for the product not to be re-edited?

There are certain products which their certain polygons are unable to select even if the surrounding polygons are selectable, and was sub-grouped by the producer before packed to the market. which burdens users to edit the layers

I need to ask about how to deal with those polygons, I wish to turn them into normal polygons as the others so the entire mesh can be edited/hidden.

Disclaimer: Honestly, I still don't understand how to use it too and I don't understand if you want to deal with the geometry or the material surface, but have you tried using Easy Geometry Hider?

    https://www.daz3d.com/easy-geometry-hider

I still don't understand how it functions, but I use their UV island selection tool to select whole side of surface from an object if I find a surface hard to be clicked normally with the geometry editor.

I think that the problem is that @rottel can't select certain polygons in the mesh. My guess is lousy construction. Perhaps these polys have dual vertices and are therefore not part of the mesh? Then they wouldn't move with the mesh...would they? Could their normals be reversed? Maybe they're a different group?
I'll donate 132 points to whomever solves this...except @rottel of course.

The main problem is that the face-groups are not covering all polys as it shows, there are always some polys unselected even if I tried geometry selection> grow selection/select connected.

Arryn's shoes are my 'go to' as most of them have the functionality of a dynamic morph on the buckles. It gives useful options for dressing/ undressing renders.

The recent G9 output doesn't retain that functionality, as far as I can see, anyway.

@rottel, Can you simply select the desired polys one by one then create a new group?

Hello, I'm no expert and I don't have those shoes, but I'm seeing the "upper" surface selected, and there are clearly a few inner strap polygons highlighted. Those polygons you can't select... are they highlighted when you choose a different surface, even if it's apparently unrelated?

Maybe you could create new face groups or surfaces selecting connected polygons? What happens when you try to do that?

It seems a little too random to be deliberate... I hope there is an easy solution, but this clearly exceeds my skills.

    Best regards,

My problem is mostly like this:
those surface-groups included some polygons being unable to select individually,
    nor to grow select/select connected,
and even if I chose to hide one group(such as sole/heel/heeltip), it may not be totally hidden as those parts are indicated

when I choose to hide the heel, the heel may be shattered that some polygons are not hidden, it only become hidden when ALL groups are hidden, so the only possibility is to hide all surface groups cumulatively, but that is not what I intend to do: to hide only those meshes visible/selectable.

@keab, I noticed that too which is why I suggested that the face normals are reversed.

    @rottel
, Oops, you posted before I saw the reply.
Those individual polys might NOT be part of any group...is that possible? Can you select them on their own if you don't have any group selected in the 'groups' pallet?

    Dear,
no, those individual polys were unable to select even if I had no group clicked (high-lighted as yellow) on the panel, and I tried all the 3 select methods marquee/lasso/drag but none worked.

When I delete all the groups and only <default> exists,
then I select a possible polygon that high-lighted with "grow-select" hot key[Ctrl + ] there can still be some polygons unselectable even if connected with its surroundings.

Hmmmm, I think the next step would be to export them as .obj files to Blender, fix whatever is wrong, then back to Studio.

I'll putting up a 1,073 point prize for anyone who does that, and posts the repaired files here for everyone to enjoy.

Does anything similar happen when you try to select polygons by face groups instead of surfaces?

I suppose then that applying a custom shader to any of those surfaces would produce weird results. Has the product different materials? If so, does applying them work properly?

If both answers are yes, the answer must be somewhere inside that .duf or .dsf (or whatever extension the 'apply materials' has), but, as I've said, that's out of my league. I'm already out of ideas. Whish you luck.

    Dear,
Yes, I guessed Blender may be the next solution, though I do need some orientation with face group creating on blender.

@rottel, Any progress with this? I'm curious.
I'd suggest that you ask in another forum but because it's been asked here, they'll know you're a pirate and probably ban you from the store. This has caught a few others.
