Mega is great, if you are downloading more than 5 gigs o stuff you'll hit a cap. Pay the few bucks a month to make it like what, 2TB??? stop complaining, you're already 'stealing' software for free, AND if you're hitting the cap, it's probably hundreds of dollars of software a day, so be thankful MEGA has a FREE 5gb a day transfer, and great client software to manage your downloads, and it's FREE.. But it's FREE and very resilient, i'll never stop using it. SOrry. So everybody, please only use MEGA. Thank you.
Honestly, can everybody stop using everything else, when i see a non mega link, i'm like, great.... this will probably fail. lol.
STFU. MEGA IS GREAT. MEGA IS FREE. MEGA HAS A WORKING CLIENT.
September 22, 2018 at 2:36 PM #772371@morlock all joking aside, i feel like you're not telling us everything. It's a 5GB a day transfer limit from mega. But that is based on IP. Is this a home machine, a public internet cafe, work? MEGA does not work well behind NAT Proxy devices, if you are hitting a limit from MEGA and you honestly haven't downloaded 5GB that day, then you are probably sharing your IP with someone else, ie... local NAT to Public IP, as is the case in most companies that use a proxy.
I use my phone and tablet for internet, when i hit the 5gb limit, if i really can't wait a few hours, then in just tether from the other one, and wallah, 5 gb more, and mega picks up w/o skipping a beat.
September 22, 2018 at 2:49 PM #772397I use TorGuard. The second I hit my 5GB cap, I change to another VPN location and restart my downloads with no problems. So, like others have said, there's got to be more to the story than what you're telling us @morlock. Are you dialing in from a public wifi? Are you syncing using the MegaSync app and that's using up all your transfer? Are you using a very popular VPN to try to download? If so, try going through another location that's available. For example, when my Singapore locations fill up, I switch to Bangalore or Thailand.
September 22, 2018 at 4:14 PM #772535Maybe I'm just doing it wrong. It's not like I've tried the VPN trick over and over to no avail; I tried it once or twice and it didn't work and I moved on. I stopped using the MegaSync app a couple weeks ago, when this problem started.
Other than that there's nothing odd about my setup. It's a desktop and I pay for broadband like everybody else. I use Chrome like everybody else.
Guess I'll try switching up my VPN proxy again.

Yeah, that could be it.

I use the megasync app since it came out and since using the app, I've not run into a single transfer cap on mega, not one time.
September 22, 2018 at 4:17 PM #772544And I don't know what you guys are doing wrong, if Google Drive is failing on you. Are you dialing in from coffee shop wifi in Bangalore using an old version of Firefox on a pirated copy of Linux?
September 22, 2018 at 4:19 PM #772550Twinis, I pretty much stay in the "you are out of quota" zone. I basically downloaded nothing yesterday and hit the "cap" as soon as I tried my first file.

I love my Mega account... started with the free one, then went to pro lite, and finally took the plunge and have a Pro I account with 1Tb of storage and I LOVE IT!
September 22, 2018 at 4:25 PM #772567Just took a screenshot from my Mega account:
https://i.postimg.cc/ydstchhN/Mega.jpg
Last time I tried to DL anything from there was like 24 hours ago. It pretty much stays like that, AFAICT.
I also don't like how Mega puts the "save" dialog at the back end of the process. So when it finishes, I'm doing something else, and run the risk of getting ye olde "window focus rape" sitch where I'm clicking on one thing and instead inadvertently save the file in the wrong place.
September 22, 2018 at 4:28 PM #772570Closed Mega tab, reconnected my VPN through a different IP, opened a new Mega tab, nothing's changed, my quota's still maxed out.
This never happens with Google Drive. There is no cap that I'm aware of.
Still haven't heard any reason to put up with this stuff from Mega, over Google Drive. I could see if storage space was an issue for me, then putting up with this would make sense. But it isn't, at this point.
September 22, 2018 at 4:32 PM #772572Have you tried with a recent version of Firefox.
I have only maxed out the 5 gig cap once in 3 years.
🙂
September 22, 2018 at 4:35 PM #772575I guess Morri has it right, because while every single IP I try through my VPN has hit the limit, the exact totals vary each time.
Weird thing is, my limit is hit, even when I turn my VPN off. Which is total nonsense because I doubt I've even DLed 70gb from there in the last month, with any IP.
September 22, 2018 at 4:39 PM #772582Just tried it through FF, no dice. Maybe I should try standing on my head?
LOL.
September 22, 2018 at 4:40 PM #772584I think we are running out of ideas for you :0/
Maybe an ISP issue?
