Yeh but there are probably many reasons for this -
1. Shyness
2. Thinking their art isn't good enough
2. Fear of critisism
3. Too busy hoarding
4. .... add you own reason4 is definitely "all of the above" (I'm in this list and I don't like it)
I can see both sides of the argument here. Daz has become frustrating these last couple of years. Instead of focusing their energy on updating and revamping Studio to keep up with the times, they've stagnated. Also, it seems like they jump on the bandwagon of what they think the current trend is by releasing features that aren't needed; it's like they're throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks.
Meanwhile, Ai has progressed in leaps and bounds in the same time frame, with regard to how it can be utilised.
I enjoy working with 3D and I've come to like creating art with Ai, and there's no reason why both mediums can't be enjoyed. It doesn't have to be an or or an either. However, as someone who draws and paints and doesn't quite have time to do it nowadays, Ai is definitely less frustrating than using Daz, which is in dire need of a complete overhaul. Failure to do so will ultimately end in its demise.
There's quite a lot of purism and snobbery when it comes to Ai. Personally, I was guilty of the same initially and was a part of the ''it's not real art'' brigade. Then I realised how hypocritical I sounded, as I originaly started out as a photomanipulation/collage artist, and traditional artists - especially on deviantArt, back in the day, looked down their noses at us and loved to preach of how we weren't ''real artists''. Now, I see so many of my fellow photomanippers say the same about Ai artists, and like I said, I also initially showed disdain for Ai. And I was wrong to do so. But, ultimately, it;s a case of each to his own. However, if Daz wants to survive, they'll have to pull their metaphorical socks up.
Looks like they're finally releasing a new version of DS (DAZ STUDIO 2025). The current release is Alpha (not even a Beta release). They reworked the interface, added some functionality and (supposedly) fixed the loading all the morphs for your characters, among other things. Based on the feedback in the forums, it's not yet ready for primetime. And, none of the extensions work (except GOZ) because the PAs haven't had time to develop them for the new version. Hopefully, in 6 months, it will be ready. I'm looking forward to the dforce hair tool myself, if it works like they say it will.
Edit to add that @trader2h uploaded a link to a stand alone copy that can be installed without going through DIM. That post is on here somewhere. Don't know how long it will stay up.
When I started playing video games I thought it was cool to bounce a dot from one side of the screen to the other.
We've come a long way and it's only snowballing. By the time your computer parts arrive in the mail they are outdated.
I can't predict the future but supposedly Microsoft fired 4% of its staff to invest that money in AI. So I'd say its a safe bet AI will be part of it.
I messed with photomanipulation awhile ago.
Thing about "art" is its a form of self expression and and argument could be made that cutting grass is an art form.
While I've seen some amazing manipulations, AI generations and Daz renders, I don't consider a lot of them "art" in the purest sense of the word.
You have a point in saying that, but for me, photomanipping served as a gateway to learning how to draw and paint - a talent I didn't think I had. So,whether it's messing around with Ai, or Daz, or cutting out, blending and overpainting photos to build a scene, for anyone who develops a liking, or an aptitude for those mediums, it can lead to creating ''real'' art. So, IMO, all starting points are valid.
Not trying to say it doesn't take skill or talent, or say it won't improve as you practice and grow.
I'm at this weird view of AI/Daz. To me Daz is like a crutch to help you walk. Ai is a Stephen Hawkins wheelchair with a nurse.
Art should take effort.the less effort the less I value it. A well done photograph of a person takes less skill and effort that a well done painting but bad art could take a week where a talented person might finish it in a day. Difficult to explain it guess.
I was in the list but ultimately broke my fears. Posting improved my perspective because the feedback both positive and negative showed me things I would normally overlook.
Im sure a lot of people do it for themselves. Imagine if when they made the LotR trilogy they only allowed 5 people to see the finished product.
I guess if that "does it" for you that's your thing but it's kind of a waste IMHO. Like making a nice meal and tossing most of it in the trash because you've nobody to share it with.
It's not like many people know who I am and posting a pic will affect my normal life unless the person is a depraved sicko. If you don't want to post for that reason, seek help.
Scratch any "normal" person and you'll often find some sort of depraved sicko inside. The more holier-than-thou the more that's likely.
I like to take my demons out and play with them now and again. I'm ashamed at how much of Perverted'Otica's stuff I own.
The problem is when I have to put the demons away....sometimes they put up a fight.If you average the population then there could technically be 1 normal person. Probably female for example since there are more of them. I doubt this female is contemplating the cannibalism of children while waiting for the next comet to hitch a ride.
Every one is a little off but I'd suggest that normal people probably wouldn't wack off in the middle of a major highway while wearing a flamingo suit.
I'll also suggest that sharing some demons with the general population would get people committed or at least shunned. Im sure at least a few people here would probably be banned or imprisoned for their hard-drive content and I'd rather they not post and get help. However it would be nice to see more renders from "normal" people
I'll have to admit to having some fantasies or art I doubt my parents, wife, children would be proud of.
How normal these thoughts are is probably difficult to pinpoint. Based on my perspective of what I think people would consider acceptable/abnormal behavior few cross the line of sicko. If you feel it's to odd to share then it probably is.
I'll wait until AI programs are more free.
The free ones aren't all that good and are generally limited in resolution.
The pay ones don't often give you enough Tokens. So they try to scam you into buying even more.I'll stick with Daz for now.
AI quickly becomes boring, there is no freedom of creativity in it, and primitive promt is definitely not for me. And AI pictures do not mean anything to me, because neurocity was stupidly fed tons of data, now all the creative work is done by AI instead of a person, what is the point now?
English is not my native language but I also decided to leave my opinion on this matter. Now I am not against AI, I have already come to terms with it but the creativity of AI people is less valuable to me than any other art
