When I said, ..."the onus on the OP to remove their ups from the dead section.." I meant by contacting AnjaBear or another admin to do that when they send you a dead post email.
I guess some people don't because it's old and not worth the points to re-up.
I wonder if they know which member wrongly flagged a post as dead?
I'm sure they could easily do that and should send a "please explain".

What did you people you expect... you should be posting content under a plethora of mirrors... I just can't even

The posts probably end up more dead thanks to the points bartering system that plagues this site. Meanwhile other sites that post daz content with mirrors still have links up since 2016-2017

Just goes to show walled garden systems do not work and only brings out the kind of behavior that kills websites.

I disagree, but only because of a pattern: I notice that (in general, but not in absolute) items tend to appear here first, then within 1-2 days they pop up at all the other sites I cruise to.

The one recent exception I've seen was the plethora of uploads that I know dead-on came straight out of the kemono.party site I dragged through awhile back and posted links to in the Freebie forum (totally not mad about that, BTW - I actually think it's funny. Actually thought of doing it myself, but alas, I'm lazy. Instead I consider it an object lesson for the public in how people should learn to read forums and get a feel for the site at large... most members just go straight for the gusto and never bother).

Okay, back out of the weeds and onto the field. IF you know of a site where stuff shows up before it arrives here, minding corner-cases and rare exceptions, I'd love to know where that (those?) place(s) are...

@cc592 "Walled garden" lol wtf? This site is source for the majority of shares in the wild.

@cc592 It's not really the shared links thing. A lot of the assets that are getting taken down come from sites like Forender and Renderhub, sites that actively send out takedown requests (ironic since those sites are filled with assets designed from copyrighted material). Renderosity, Daz3D, and Rendererotica don't really go around sending out requests.

Some of the links aren't actually dead either, just someone had a problem at a particular moment getting an asset and marked it dead. Other links would help in these cases though, that's for sure.

Other mirror sites should be allowed though as Google and Mega are among the easiest to get things taken down from.

"Other mirror sites should be allowed though as Google and Mega are among the easiest to get things taken down from."

I can totally agree to this, but, well, with exceptions.

siasky.net causes Chrome to whine and refuse the download... you can correct this, but the correction goes away every time Chrome gets an update (or at least it seems that way). Sorry, but it's a raging PITA to roll the dice as to whether or not Chrome blocked it this time.

Sleazy premium-sub file hosting sites (like rapidgator, europeup) that demand premium subscriptions (or else you're time and speed-limited hard)? Those should be banned outright, full-stop.

there are some good ones out there, though, and they should be added. F95's downloads are usually hosted on sites that are rock-solid.

BTW, AnonFiles is slower than dirt due to their design, but whatever you host on it seems nearly takedown-proof.

Saying that siasky is a PITA is a MASSIVE understatement. Chrome always balks, Edge...never going to happen. They shut down for security reasons. I did manage 1 successful download using TOR. Only 1. So if I purchase a file from someone and siasky is their file provider of choice, I know to never purchase from them again. I just wait for the file to show up elsewhere. I know it isn't the end of the world, but why continually get frustrated when it can be avoided.

I do the same thing. I use this site to test products to see if I want to purchase them. I hate having to return items on DAZ and found I was just keeping them rather than do that. Of the items I’ve downloaded from here there’s an awful lot that I’ve deleted from my DAZ Studio. Either my machine can’t handle them or they just don’t work the way I expect them to.

My peeve is when the promo images are awesome, but the actual item looks like 'blah' once it gets on my computer. I wish I wish I wish they had some sort of standard as to lighting, camera angles, and stuff like that. Make all the pretty photoshop-heavy promo pics you want, but at least include plain-jane images from at least front and back views, under default lighting, perspective view, no filtering, default settings everywhere, and a POV far enough back to see the whole thing.

@Pooper - Daz should include one standard scene for the promo images so people can judge a product under unbiassed conditions. This is particularly important for skins that can look completely different depending on the lighting used. As it stands you have no way of telling a skin hue, especially comparing one to another, until you use it yourself. I've seen so many characters look pale in promos only for them to turn out like beetroots under 5000K-6000K (neutral) lighting.

    Oh Heavens this... 1000x this.

If only DAZ (or any one of these stores) had standards that included presentation!

    @Pooper
There's probably a reason why Daz don't do this. Probably the same reason why they don't show release date or product download size despite constant requests to do so. Maybe they rely a lot on impulse buying.

I suppose it is possible some folk may confuse the time out on a download link purchase with the post being dead?
