    @Redflag I noticed that when I was going through the dead links. I made sure to test all links before I posted the products I had. I got ''this file has been removed'' or Google links that stated that the link was no longer public, but I did notice that there were quite a few active links, DM's Enchanted Hill was one of them. I only tested the links to the products I had in my own library. I don't have any Rend3rhub stuff (loads of dead links there, but I think that's mainly due to copyright claims) or any Rend3rotica products because that's not really my thing.

    I saw the schoolgirl outfit there, but I didn't test the link because it's a product I don't have.

    The problem would be easily solved if they just appointed a couple of people as mods whose job it is to test the links. As far as I'm aware there are only three mods plus the admin. I think the fourth mod has left, so it would make sense for them to appoint a few more.

    BTW, I just now tested your link and it's working fine.

    Yes..!
    I'd gladly volunteer (and have said so on this forum and via e-mail to mods) to help go through and cull the dead ones... the REALLY dead ones etc etc...

    but despite being short handed, they didn't take me up on my offer. Maybe its me?

    Anyway... its a little frustrating, but, since I am past caring about points, I just post what i have, or repost what I can find and let the chips fall where they may.

    The only thing that really torques my nut is when I take MY TIME to make interesting graphics to use for a product, and it is used by a re-poster. Especially when the link really isn't dead.

    I can usually tell by the blog art if it is something I uploaded as I tend to tweak or use alternative ADULT CONTENT tape...

    Sigh....

    @Redflag I know the mods have a life outside of here and real life should always take precedence over the online world, so it would make perfect sense to accept help from someone who's willing to volunteer their time in order to make things easier. Did you try contacting Hunter and offering help; because I don't think the mods themselves can make that decision?

    I can sympathise with how frustrating it is when you either spend money to purchase a product and upload it, or convert and tweak an existing item, only to have it appear in the dead link category, when the link is perfectly fine and working properly, and then see it be reposted by someone who already downloaded it.

    For me it's not about points either; I just enjoy the community here and am happy to share what I've got.
    I do think an extra pair of hands is needed because there are so few mods as it is.

    @Redflag The people that report a dead link because it's a Google Drive link really grind my gears. There's one person that's whiny and defensive about it in the comments (and then commented with links to a Phoungdzi site). I actually went back on all of mine that were gdrive and added a comment that it was. So far no more false reports.

    If you respond to the email, Monk gets to it eventually. But it's annoying.

    TBH I've posted several R3ND3R0T1CA items that were almost immediately jumped on by a particular person and had to be removed from MEGA. I have posted items before that have been reposted a couple of days later by another poster and had my post taken down.

    I get that the admins have a hard job to do with all the posts so keeping an eye on new posts would help them.

    Just had one of my posts put up in the dead posts area and then re-upped by someone else despite the fact that the link still works.

    I will put it this way, I RARELY buy anything I cannot test first. If I find an item I like and use often, I buy it. Since Poser came out in 1995 I have probably spent in excess of $20,000 USD on product. Around $1,000 per year. Without the ability to see if I like something or not, I am not going to buy it especially since PAs like to photoshop and use specific lighting to get a specific look and if you don't know the exact lighting they used, there's several times where it doesn't look as good in the images they put up on the item page. They claim they don't use photoshop but I call bullshit. I've been using photoshop almost as long as I've been using first Poser now DAZ.

    @oldwolf: true, and oddly, I often come across a model that looks like utter crap in the promos, and I try it on a lark, and turns out to be much better than expected. You always have to give it a test run to see what it's really like.

    @yanoma
    : I think this happens way more often than it should. Get a hold of a mod, sometimes it turns out to be a temporary Cloudflare or DNS issue or something that makes a link appear dead, or some other minor thing that could be fixed if attention is brought to it.

    So long as I don't get docked points, I don't overly care that someone else has re-upped it, but ZoneGFX might want to look into getting a volunteer or two to check out the Dead Posts.

    Check the email you registered here with (in case you don't look at it often)... you won't get a notification here (WHYYY??) but you'll get an email from site_bot saying you need to give a new link or be docked like 200 points.

    Crazy thing... is Tomsk even a mod here any more? I e-mailed him the fix, cause I thought Monk might be overburdened... but it got bounced back.

    @Redflag - same thing happened to me, so I'm guessing not

    @amberkat
    I did find out about it that way, but when I went to check it, the link was working, so I didn't do anything as it didn't need to be fixed.

    Guess I should have e-mailed them about it though. Lesson learned.

    "Just had one of my posts put up in the dead posts area and then re-upped by someone else despite the fact that the link still works."

    I hope I just didn't do that. I re-upped a requested item that's labelled as dead, but didn't think to check if the old link still worked.
    It may seem harsh but I would put the onus on the OP to remove their ups from the dead section, instead on me wasting 50pts to see if links still works.

    Is an automated notification sent when a post is moved to the dead category? If not it may be a good idea.

    I hope that people aren't falsely reporting stuff as dead so they can re-up it themselves for points. That should result in a banning.

    @Frank22

    Can we even delete dead posts on the blog? I thought that was a Mod right. If a post is labeled dead, it gets that label from a mod. Of course, the trigger is that downloaders report when they get a "dead" link, but I put the onus on the mods to ensure/verify that the links are actually dead, because they are the ones that give it a dead label and move it in to the dead post category.

    They send out an e-mail to warn you that the link is potentially dead, but to point out another flaw in the system, in that e-mail, one of the contact points is a mod who is no longer with ZoneGfx... so, updating the "warning" e-mail would be a great starting point.

    I know, I know, "The mods are overworked and underpaid."
    This would ring a lot truer if nobody was volunteering to help... but I KNOW for a fact that folks have volunteer to help, (I being one) and I didn't even get a "thanks, but no thanks" reply.

    At the end of the day, If its in the DEAD Post section, it needs to get re-upped, by somebody... That keeps the site going and healthy... It is just a shame that some of the posts aren't dead, and the System itself seems to be clogged up and needing a bit of cleaning out.

    Sigh... if we only had volunteers.
