I'm tired of the V4 and M4 stuff that is flooding this site and one of the reasons I barley upload stuff here anymore. Can we make it so that older stuff is posted to a special category and that it doesn't come up when you click on all posts?
July 18, 2018 at 10:24 PM #683515I agree, put the old content on a separate category.
July 19, 2018 at 12:35 AM #683615You do realize that by using Autofit you can use the generation 4 stuff on genesis 1 and higher, don't you?
July 19, 2018 at 5:57 AM #683828can auto fit M4 stuff to G8. But the crotch and shoes will suck.
Id like to see stuff divided by model. 97% of V4s stuff i skip now just to save HD spacr. Ive got a good bit of old stuff and maybe use 10% of it.
July 19, 2018 at 6:29 AM #683855I'm with D0GG0D on this.
Seperate prominent categories for G8 & G3 at least.
Either that or have the rest categorised as Legacy content.
July 19, 2018 at 7:09 AM #683890but only works, if everyone is categorizing correct, which is currently optional.
July 19, 2018 at 7:56 AM #683946A Legacy mention is a good idea : everything preIray would fit the bill. Even if I like most clothing stuff for V4 (less so for M4) they are now clearly out of date in DS4.10. Of course you can use them on new figures but for good results it is rather arduous and sobering, especially as some poses become impossible and most often there is a recent equivalent.... I would be curious to know how many people here DO NOT use Iray (and there are good reasons for using 3DLight but...).
July 19, 2018 at 11:37 AM #684106I would like to see the v4 stuff ya got @Ethiopia i'm still colecting v4 models and assets and i don't know y anyone would complain about free stuff , in that case quit putting shit i don't want on the site lol 🙂
July 19, 2018 at 1:41 PM #684216Its nice to be able to search through all creatures, all animals, all female clothing, all G8 stuff.
Nowhere am i against V4 and a double dog dare you to flood me with it.
Im saying a bit more organization would be welcome.
If atm all i wanted to browse through all G8M clothing then instead of typing it out, i could just stay in his category
July 19, 2018 at 2:28 PM #684259I'll admit that if I see something V4 or M4, even Genesis (if it's a bit ropey) I'll just scroll on by. It doesn't really interest me and there are better recent products available. That being said, organising all the of the posts by generation would be a stupendous undertaking with just getting some framework in place, let alone having to categorise all the posts.
As it is with the site, it's not meant to be an indexed browsing experience, you're supposed to know what you want when you come here and search for it and that works. For the amount of effort it would take to tag EVERY post on the site and the small benefit I personally don't think it's worth it. Unless volunteers step forward that want to index and categorise everything?
July 19, 2018 at 5:39 PM #684430I wouldn't mind if it was divided for the opposite reason: I use ONLY V4/M4 stuff and have no intention of switching to Genesis.
I do a little happy dance every time I see V4/M4 stuff (new or old, doesn't matter, I only discovered Daz a couple of years ago so it's all new to me).

I'm with EvilMonkey here on this subject. When browsing here for product, you are supposed to know what you are looking for. Either by searching with the product's name or a theme really close to it.
If you are really more on a "i don't know what i'm looking for and i'm just swimming in a sea of product to see what is available" trip, what i suggest to do is either go to the Daz store, Renderosity store (or even Renderotica store) and do the product searching there first. Since those website got a better sorting of the product. After all, about 98% of the item posted here are comming from those place. Then, after you have found what you are looking for, you come here and search to see if it's available.
Personnally, i don't mind seeing all the product, old or new, posted all together on the blog section. It's true that most of the old stuff are outdated, and i also generaly quickly scroll pass them, but i still want to just get a quick look at them. Because even if it's true that most of the time, you can get a better and more recent equivalent of that kind of product, there are always a few rare old product quite unique that were never been remade to these day.
Like for example..... RW Sarias Suit !
https://www.daz3d.com/rw-sarias-suit
I didn't made any request for it because i'm just waiting/hoping patiently that it'll pop up here eventually one day, but i've yet to see to this day any product from G3 or G8 comming close to this product's look. And i'm sure there can be example like this for older product from the V4/M4 generation. Especially in the fantasy/exotic categorie of clothing.

Looks like once again, I'm in a different camp here than most. I think the way the site is indexed is fine. This site was not designed for searching on criteria more specific than a name primarily, maybe a few descriptive keywords.
If you want to search and peruse things by very specific criteria, the sites that sell those things have invested the time and money to create such a system and maintain a staff for quality control. To expect either of these things on a site like this one is a bit silly no matter how you choose to look at it.
This site is a repository of links sorted by name with some description indexing as well. It doesn't need to be more than that. But if enough people want to make it into that, the most easy way to get that done is click that little link at the top that says get points and donate some cash to pay for the work as opposed to pointlessly idle threats of "Do what I say or I'll quit supporting you." That line doesn't work very well in legitimate business, why in hell would you think it would work here on a site created by volunteers who donate their time and money for what amounts to little more than a constant outflow of cash and inflow of complaints?

I noticed after my rant, it was sort of not needed as @evilmonkey and @checkit1414 had those bases covered. 😀
July 20, 2018 at 6:33 AM #684979So why is there a section for animals and vehicles as well as several others? Just dump it all in the same spot and remove these pointless categories.
