Hope our awesome Aussie members had a great Australia Day. BBQ for lunch with my boys and their families, nice bike ride out to catch up with some fellow riders from elsewhere. Lots of sunshine here on the southwest coast

I basically slept through it until the local fireworks woke me up and I ran to see if my fifteen year old cat was in the house. I'm a complete home body, one of these light years I'll manage to make it to the big do in the city.

We don't have fireworks here on Australia day, our council decided that as we have 2 lots on new years eve we don't need any more. The new years eve ones keep us home as they are really close to us and my dogs do the sooky bit so we have to stay home with them, but I can se them from my house so it doesn't bother me. Doesn't worry my cats at all.

I've had dogs that hate fireworks like all dogs usually do but I had one dog that was just interested in them and would sit out on the patio looking up when they were going off. There was definitely something wrong with that lovable little shit, she was so feisty as well.

It's funny with my lot. My white cat was born deaf so the others are freaking out about the noise and she's sitting there going "herp derp, what's everyone jumping about? Ohhhh lookit the pretty lights!"

230 I believe. Australia Day marks the day that the First Fleet sailed into Sydney harbour. It's also known to some as "Invasion Day" due to the actions of the First Fleet towards the indigenous peoples.

Australia as a country though is 117 years old, as it was formed as a Commonwealth on 01/01/1901

We don't really worry too much about snakes or spiders, I think we have a higher death rate from shark attacks. Spiders are useful, they catch the flies and other bugs so it is catch and release back outside.
