Whilst initially being enthusiastic, I find that has totally disappeared once I saw the mesh.
It has no mesh density increments in 'male' & 'female' important areas.
I really dislike the unimesh approach, which only really fits for cross gender, or perhaps even non-human type characters.
I feel if you are looking for a solid male or female viable morphable base, you are going to be let down.
In the fullness of time, I don't doubt aftermarket items will enhance morphable realism, but as it stands I am not buying in.
In the mean time I sincerely hope the mature G8 G8.1 will continue to attract significant vendor support indefinitely.:0/
October 30, 2022 at 10:21 AM #1883867Instead of releasing different generations that have almost no difference, DAZ should work on its software, which has not been updated for almost ten years and does not have any of the capabilities and features of modern software in this field. Unfortunately, this company only thinks about making money from users and nothing else!
October 30, 2022 at 10:47 AM #1883874I'm being selective with what I buy. The Peppa bundle was the first thing that I brought, which I got with thanks to a gift card that I brought on Friday. It's unlikely that I buy anything else for next week or so (trying to cut down how much I spend on 3d stuff)
October 30, 2022 at 10:51 AM #1883875I know that feeling! 😉

I agree 100%. Genesis 9 what they have released is just garbage. After a day of experimenting, I just removed this junk from my hard drive with a pleasant feel.
I will not waste another word on it either.October 30, 2022 at 11:44 AM #1883896I just hope G8 / G8.1 support continues to be strong. :0/
October 30, 2022 at 12:05 PM #1883909The problem with G9 is backwards compatibility.
I have been converting morphs from G8 to G9 and there are problems in the eyes and hands (sometimes the thumb moves weirdly) and I had trouble using G8 hair and shoes with those morphs.
It seems Daz went all in to minimize backwards compatibility as much as possible with the only reason being $$$ and nothing practical at all.
Personally, I have no problem with the unisex mesh, it requires far less products overall, but it will just require installing content in more independent directories, since now both male and female morphs will count towards your total while loading stuff. Also, the mesh is really cringe in the nipple area. Loads of geographs incoming.
On the positive side, G9 has an amazing skin, V9 face looks better than anything Daz ever had (but her body is meh, doesn't even look HD), and the 8k Normals are perfect. Hopefully (?) it will get better the more products are released.
October 30, 2022 at 12:11 PM #1883914Thanks for that input.
It just confirms that I have made the right decision for me. 🙂
October 30, 2022 at 12:31 PM #1883930TBH my friend, I think you are flogging a dead horse with getting Rosity to make Poser properly compatible with recent DS base figures.

October 30, 2022 at 2:09 PM #1883972Here are the common problems with converted morphs through Daz Studio:

On top of that hair becomes messed up, and heels do not convert well on these morphs.
I tried to convert morphs through retopology (with other software) and the eyes and mouth just become a nightmare to fix.
October 30, 2022 at 3:24 PM #1883989And I'm confused. Those who enliven in third-party applications - criticize (reasonedly) with the last words. It looks like the drawing was made:
----only for das and static renderers (animation in daz is a headache)
--and create maximum problems for those who do not trade in the Daz store.
My position is this:
-- If a high-quality character converter from g9 to g8 appears, I will not touch g9.
-- -- If there is no such converter - and the symbols for g9 will be more interesting to me, then I will have to go .... 🙁October 30, 2022 at 3:48 PM #1883995One question - WHY does Daz keep fixing things that aren't broken?
October 30, 2022 at 3:53 PM #1883998Well, it is a business after all, with employees that deserve paychecks for their wonderful creative work. But I hear you - they keep "improving" on things, and the new figures don't always have backward compatibility with old clothing. I was really disappointed when I could no longer use all my V3 and M3 clothing items, and there is very little new content being made for the perfectly good Genesis 2 figures.
October 31, 2022 at 1:19 AM #1884161Tbh, I won't spend not even a penny on G9 content because its worthless for me. With all the G8-G8.1 content I have, I got everything I need right now. I mean, what's the point in having a great (almost real character) and make awesome portraits if the main software its a crap in animation rendering times or animation using dforce stuff.
Maybe when daz developers put some effort in updating their old software I'll start give them my money again.
