Hey guys, new to the forum but I've been here for years.
I haven't even loaded 8.1 yet. My work is non-photorealistic anime style stuff, so although I do love the better facial movements of 8.1. I've yet to really delve into usage. I just don't have a lot of time these days.
One thing that caught my eye is that it's supposed to be better for animation? But I tried searching for info about that and couldn't find anything. What exactly makes it better for animation?
I had a slight frustration about using G8 for animation until I FINALLY learned how to use IK chains effectively (I found that I have to lock the translations and rotations of the IK Chains to keep the feet firmly in place). So now I'm a happy camper with G8.
At this point I have years of work ahead of me converting old V4-G3 morphs with Gen X and Xtransfer to Genesis 8. So unless Genesis 9 has something really amazing to offer, I'll be sticking with G8.
My opinion is unchanged as yet, because there seems to have been little improvement in the basis of what G9 is providing.
If anything, as a result of that, my opinion is hardening against it.

haven't even downloaded G9 and i don't think i will, there's just no G9 stuff i want to have ...
No, not anymore.
The apparent quality comes only from the high quality textures.
The geometry of the model is a joke, it makes sense only if t's used at maximum resolution.
The chaos of the "duplicate name" morphs only added to the frustration.
I deleted G9 entirely, as I forsee that, one year from now, the product will be a useless mess if things go as they went until now.Yep @Frederrick. My plan for tomorrow is to go through and delete everything associated with G9, except for a few bits I can use with G8.
Daz has still probably made a profit with G9. Obviously not because it's any good but because their development team consists of 2 or 3 low paid workers who couldn't really give a fuck, like their customer support team.
I don't understand why there isn't more characters and skin recourses coming out, for a new generation line things seem to be moving very slow in that department . 😮
The whole thing has been half ( more like quarter ) assed from the get go.
What is worse, is there is no apparent effort to address any of the many issues.

Dev Team - should we really release this thing considering it has so many problems? People won't be happy.
Sales team - fuck them, think of all the profits we're going to make from getting the stupid arses to re-buy all the stuff they already bought for G8.
Daz cheer squad- what a great new model, my art will look a million percent better with G9.... throws hard-earned money down the drain.

But - I LOVE the Daz studio app. - AND LOVE G3, - the G3 family ROCKS!

Yes, I agree.
TBH I really liked G3F.
It took me a short while with G8F to get used to her behaviour,
but now I am happy enough with G8.1F.🙂
Dear @eelgoo - I like G8/8.1 also - but I convert most of the content I DL for G8 - to G3, I'm happy w. G3. It's simple, and not at least light weight/easy to work with.
Not really interested with G9 anymore. Most of the models that I use are G8. Made a few G9, but slowly converted them to G8. Still gonna get G9 models, but won't use them much at the moment. It's different with clothing and the hair, as they can be used with G8 models quite easy.
I'm still hoping to see a script character converter from G9 to G8.
I doubt it will be a Daz item, though. :0/
